Chapter 143 Treating Grandpa Lin

The old man in the next bed, surnamed Lin, has severe arthritis. Every year when it gets cold, he suffers so much pain that he has to stay in the hospital to relieve the pain with medication.

In fact, the medications available in this hospital can only provide temporary relief for his symptoms and cannot cure them at all; they are just for psychological comfort.

When Grandpa Lin saw Ye Weiwei giving Huo Jiang acupuncture, he initially didn't take her seriously because of her young appearance. He thought that the Huo family probably couldn't afford a good doctor, which was why they let a young girl like Ye Weiwei do such a thing, probably to save on medical expenses.

However, every time the doctors who came to check on him said that Huo Jiang was recovering very quickly and that they were praising Ye Weiwei, he gradually became more attentive. He secretly pulled aside a doctor at the hospital and asked him about it. He learned that although Ye Weiwei was young, her medical skills were truly amazing. The doctors at the county hospital couldn't have performed Huo Jiang's surgery at all; it was this young girl who did it and saved him.

Grandpa Lin, with a try-it-and-see attitude, told Ye Weiwei about his condition and asked if she could cure him. Ye Weiwei took one look and described his condition almost perfectly. Grandpa Lin was so excited that he insisted that Ye Weiwei perform acupuncture on him.

"Dr. Ye, please have pity on this old man. You have no idea how much this illness has tormented me. Sometimes I even wish I could take a knife and cut off my own legs!"

Seeing Ye Weiwei hesitate, Grandpa Lin immediately adopted a strategy of feigning distress and offering incentives: "I know that a miracle doctor like you won't easily make a move. Just name your price, and I'll do my best to meet it! I only ask that you have pity on me and let this old man enjoy his old age in peace."

When he learned that Ye Weiwei was a skilled doctor, he also inquired about her. He learned that Ye Weiwei had even turned down a high-paying job at the hospital, so he knew that she looked down on the hospital's salary. However, he was willing to spend a lot of money as long as she could cure his leg.

Ye Weiwei held up two fingers and said, "It will completely eradicate the problem."

Grandpa Lin readily agreed and immediately took out a small cloth bag from under his pillow, counted out two hundred yuan, and was about to give it to Ye Weiwei.

Seeing Mr. Lin's state, Yu Huanhuan, the caregiver, was afraid that he had been scammed, so she quickly spoke up to stop him, "Grandpa, this is no small amount. Why don't you discuss it with your family?"

The family in the next bed are just a bunch of country bumpkins. What great abilities could they possibly have? They're just putting on airs and trying to swindle people because they think Old Master Lin is easy to talk to.

She has been taking care of the old man in the hospital for three years in a row. If he could be cured, all the doctors in the hospital would have cured him long ago. She doesn’t believe that all the older doctors in the hospital are not as good as a young girl!

Deep down, she didn't want Grandpa Lin to get better, since the caregiver fee paid by the Lin family was quite high, and the few months she spent taking care of the old man each year was equivalent to her annual income.

Ye Weiwei did not accept the money, saying, "It's not too late to pay after I'm cured."

Grandpa Lin insisted, stuffing the money directly into Huo Xiao's hand, saying, "This old man trusts your character and medical skills, take it first."

"Grandpa!" Seeing that the old man wouldn't listen to reason, Yu Huanhuan was anxious and couldn't help but say to Ye Weiwei in a bad mood, "You'd better be able to cure the old man's illness, or the Lin family won't let you off the hook!"

If they manage to fool the Lin family, they won't even know how they died!

Ye Weiwei smiled faintly: "Oh."

Grandpa Lin frowned at Yu Huanhuan, displeased. "Xiao Yu, just do what you're supposed to do."

Don't meddle in things that aren't your business!

Seeing that Ye Weiwei was unmoved by reason and that even Grandpa Lin was speaking up for her, Yu Huanhuan glared at her angrily.

Ye Weiwei completely ignored Yu Huanhuan.

She wrote a prescription for Grandpa Lin, and Grandpa Lin simply sent Yu Huanhuan to get the medicine, thus sending her away.

"Dr. Ye, please don't take offense. Xiao Yu has been taking care of me all these years because she was worried that I would be deceived. But I absolutely believe in your abilities."

Ye Weiwei smiled and said, "Then I'll give you another acupuncture to help relieve the symptoms and at least let you get a good night's sleep tonight."

"That's great! Hurry, hurry, hurry!" Old Master Lin urged excitedly.

He had no idea how many days it had been since he had a good night's sleep.

When Yu Huanhuan went to the pharmacy to get medicine, she ran back to the Lin family and complained that Old Master Lin had been cheated out of two hundred yuan by a vixen in the hospital, and no matter how she tried to persuade him, she couldn't stop her.

The Lin family was furious when they heard this. The money that Old Master Lin had was meant for them, and with so many eyes watching, if he spent more, they would get less.

Thus, the Lin family, unusually united, went to the hospital together in a large group.

Ye Weiwei had just finished giving Grandpa Lin acupuncture and was about to put the needles away when the Lin family arrived.

A group of people surrounded Ye Weiwei.

"Dad, how could you be so foolish!" The eldest son of the Lin family was the first to speak, looking at the old man with great distress and saying, "What can such a little girl know? She doesn't even know how to read properly, and you dare to let her treat your illness!"

"Dad, I know your leg is really painful, but you can't just rush into anything. You should at least find a reliable doctor."

“Your grandson asked you for money to buy a bicycle and you said you didn’t have any, but you’re generous to strangers, giving them two hundred yuan right away.”

"Dad, your retirement savings can't withstand your extravagant spending!"

The women from the Lin family immediately turned their anger towards Ye Weiwei: "Little girl, how old are you? Did you even graduate from junior high school? You're so young, why don't you do something else but become a swindler!"

"Where's the money? Hand over that two hundred yuan! You've swindled an old man out of his money; your heart is truly black!"

"..."

Huo Jiang was completely stunned by the Lin family. When he realized what they were there for, he was so angry that he was about to get out of bed to argue with them. Fortunately, Ye Weiwei noticed in time and quickly held him down, preventing him from moving around.

Old Man Lin was so angry with these people that he couldn't speak, and his hands were trembling uncontrollably.

Ye Weiwei put away the silver needles from Old Man Lin's leg, then looked coldly at the Lin family members, "Have you all finished talking? Loud noises are prohibited in the hospital. If you're done, you can get out!"

The Lin family members were all stunned.

They never expected that Ye Weiwei, a young girl, would not panic at all when surrounded by so many of them, and would even dare to confront them head-on.

"Where did this ignorant brat come from? Is this how you talk to your elders? You have no manners or upbringing at all! Today, I'll teach you a lesson on how to speak properly on behalf of your parents!"

As Sister-in-law Lin was speaking, she reached out to slap Ye Weiwei, but Ye Weiwei grabbed her wrist and with a little force, Sister-in-law Lin's scream could be heard throughout the entire hospital.
