Knowing that her uncle was coming, Ye Weiwei was in a particularly good mood these past few days. She cleaned all the guest rooms in the house, washed and aired out the blankets and sheets that needed to be washed.
However, the task of washing the bed sheets was taken over by her mother-in-law, Liu Guilan, who said that although the weather was hot now, the water was cold and she couldn't touch it during her postpartum period.
Even though Ye Weiwei said that she would be out of confinement in three or four days and that doing this little bit of work was fine, Liu Guilan still wouldn't allow it no matter what.
A week later, his uncle Zhang Changnian arrived, accompanied by his orderly and two other people.
One of the young men, who looked to be about the same age as Huo Xiao, was extremely weak. He was out of breath after walking just a few steps from the car into the yard.
Ye Weiwei saw that his face was ashen and was really worried that he would die from a sudden illness.
The other person was a bit older and seemed to be taking care of the young man.
"Uncle!" Ye Weiwei saw Zhang Changnian and ran out of the house happily, grabbing his arm and acting coquettishly, "Why did you take so long to come? I've been waiting for you at home for days."
I thought he was already preparing to leave when he called Huo Xiao.
Looking at Ye Weiwei, whose cheeks had become a bit rounder, Zhang Changnian said indulgently, "Do you think I can just come over whenever I want? I'd better arrange all my work first?"
Ye Weiwei snorted twice: "All you do is work all day!"
Then she saw her uncle's orderly unload several large packages from the vehicle and exclaimed in surprise, "Uncle, did you bring all of these for me? My aunt sent a lot of things last month, why did you bring so many again! I told you, we really don't need anything here, you've come all this way, it must be tiring!"
Hearing his little niece speak, Zhang Changnian felt a warmth in his heart. "This isn't just for you. I only brought two packages. They're for your aunt's three children. Children grow quickly, so we definitely need to prepare more."
Ye Weiwei glanced at the several large packages and thought that even just two packages contained a lot of stuff.
The uncle and nephew were chatting animatedly when they were suddenly interrupted by a cough.
Zhang Changnian quickly introduced Ye Weiwei: "Weiwei, this is the son of an old friend of mine. His surname is Chu, Chu Zhao. You can just call him Brother Chu."
Ye Weiwei greeted him with a smile: "Hello, Brother Chu, I am Ye Weiwei."
Chu Zhao coughed twice more, clearly trying hard to suppress it, his face turning an unnatural red. "Hello, I'm sorry, I... cough cough..."
As soon as he opened his mouth to speak, Chu Zhao could no longer suppress the discomfort in his throat and began to cough incessantly.
Ye Weiwei put two fingers together and quickly tapped his chest and throat a few times.
Chu Zhao felt a rush of blood to his head, and he spat out a mouthful of blood, his body swaying precariously.
"What are you doing!" Chu Liang, the slightly older man beside Chu Zhao, immediately supported Chu Zhao upon seeing this, his gaze sharp as he looked at Ye Weiwei, full of vigilance. "What did you do to Young Master Chu?"
Zhang Changnian was also startled by Chu Zhao's sudden vomiting of blood, but he naturally stood unconditionally on his little niece's side. Seeing Chu Liang's unfriendly attitude, he said with a stern face, "Chu Liang, calm down. Don't forget why you came here!"
Chu Liang's face darkened. Of course, he knew what the purpose of his visit was, but even though he had known for a long time that Zhang Changnian's niece was very young, he still couldn't help but feel suspicious when he saw her in person.
She's so young.
If he didn't know she was already a mother of three, he would have doubted whether this young girl was even an adult.
Although he wasn't one to judge a book by its cover, and had investigated Ye Weiwei beforehand and knew she was a skilled doctor, he couldn't help but be nervous because she had caused Chu Zhao to vomit so much blood.
You have to understand that Chu Zhao's body is now completely unable to withstand any more strain.
"Chu Liang... I'm fine." Chu Zhao pulled Chu Liang back, lest he offend someone because he was worried about her.
"Young Master Chu, how... how are you?"
Chu Liang looked at Chu Zhao with concern when he heard him speak.
Chu Zhao looked at Ye Weiwei gratefully and said, "Thank you!"
Ye Weiwei waved her hand: "You're welcome. I just noticed you had chest tightness and blood stasis, so I helped you catch your breath and make you feel a little more comfortable."
Chu Zhao took a few more gentle breaths and, sure enough, stopped coughing. He looked at Ye Weiwei with delight and said, "As expected of the renowned Doctor Ye, you can tell she's a master with just one move."
Ye Weiwei laughed and said, "Don't tease me. Besides, this is only temporary. It's not a cure. It will take some time to fully recover."
Upon hearing Ye Weiwei's words, Chu Liang excitedly asked before Chu Zhao could speak, "Dr. Ye, can you cure Young Master Chu?"
After he finished speaking, he realized his mistake and quickly bowed to Ye Weiwei to apologize: "I'm sorry, I was very rude just now."
Ye Weiwei waved her hand, not taking this small matter to heart. She could tell that Chu Liang was just too concerned about Chu Zhao.
"Weiwei, your uncle is standing outside with the guests. Come inside quickly, have some tea, and rest for a bit."
Liu Guilan was finally able to chime in, greeting everyone with a smile.
Zhang Changnian quickly greeted Liu Guilan and then introduced Chu Zhao and Chu Liang before entering the house.
"Weiwei, take Chu Zhao's pulse. I'm going to check on my little grandchildren."
Upon entering the house, Zhang Changnian didn't even bother with tea; he rushed off to look after the children.
After Chu Zhao sat down, Chu Liang quickly went to the car to get the prepared gift for Ye Weiwei.
"I came in a hurry and didn't know what you like, so I brought a small gift. I hope you won't find it offensive."
Seeing the several large cans of milk powder and malted milk powder, the white fungus, bird's nest, and red dates on the table, as well as a few exquisite little wooden boxes, Ye Weiwei said reproachfully, "You're being too polite. With my uncle bringing you here, do you think I wouldn't put in the effort?"
Chu Zhao looked relaxed and smiled sincerely: "How could that be! I only heard from Uncle Zhang that you just gave birth, and I thought you might need these things, so I prepared some. If you don't like them, or want something else, I'll prepare more."
Ye Weiwei smiled and said, "Thank you for your trouble."
It's clear that Chu Zhao put a lot of thought into preparing these things.
Especially those milk powder and malted milk powder, she must have prepared so many cans because she was worried that her three children wouldn't have enough to eat. There are also white fungus, bird's nest, and red dates, which are also good for nourishing the body.
Chu Liang smiled and said, "I drove here this time, so I can only bring this much for now. Please use it first, and I'll prepare more when you're done."
Ye Weiwei knew they needed her help, and if she was too polite, they would feel uneasy. So she stopped being polite and readily agreed.
Sure enough, Chu Liang secretly breathed a sigh of relief when she nodded.
