Chapter 329 Everyone Who Sees It Has a Share

Ye Weiwei wasn't surprised at all when she learned from Huo Xiao that it was the Zhao family who were causing trouble.

Zhao Mingzhe's family truly embodies selfishness to the core.

In particular, Zhao Mingzhe's mother, Zhou Minru, is most adept at changing her tune depending on the wind and being two-faced.

Back when the original owner and Zhao Mingzhe hadn't broken off their engagement, she played the role of a gentle and tolerant mother-in-law in front of the original owner, while turning around and giving advice to her son Zhao Mingzhe on how to keep the original owner on her to keep her on her to and use her to get benefits from the original owner's family.

Previously, because her second brother secretly arranged for someone to trip up Zhao Mingzhe's family, she had dealt with them. She had just returned to Kyoto, and it was the end of the year, so she thought that these few worthless people were not worth her time to deal with. Who knew that they would become so arrogant.

Since they've delivered themselves to their doom, she'll give them a quick death and deal with them, so they won't be bothered to be jumping around and getting in her way all day.

Coincidentally, the next day, they were going to take their mother-in-law, Liu Guilan, to see the house that Qin Zhang had given them. Ye Weiwei remembered that it was not far from Zhao Mingzhe's house, and should be within the range of her mental power that she could control her ears.

When it came to the house Qin Zhang gave her, her mother-in-law initially refused to accept it no matter what. Ye Weiwei and Huo Xiao persuaded her for a long time before she reluctantly accepted it, but she insisted that the house be registered in Huo Xiao's name.

In the end, it was Old Master Qin who persuaded her, bringing up his deceased wife's name again, and finally convinced Liu Guilan to accept it.

This house is a two-courtyard siheyuan (traditional courtyard house), located two streets away from Ye Weiwei's siheyuan, about a 20-minute walk away, and its size is no smaller than Ye Weiwei's siheyuan.

After all, this area was once home to wealthy merchants from Kyoto, and the building materials used were of the highest quality.

The house is well-preserved, and it's clear that it was recently cleaned. The weeds in the yard have been cleared, the ground has been leveled, and the doors and windows have been repaired.

The house has very little furniture, so if the whole family were to move in, we would have to buy a lot more things.

But they were already quite satisfied with how well it had been tidied up.

Liu Guilan, in particular, was so excited she didn't know what to say.

"I never imagined that I could live in such a big house, especially in a place like Kyoto. This is truly... I don't know how to thank Uncle Qin."

She was originally a servant in the Liu family. When her mistress passed away, she was entrusted with raising Huo Xiao, which was her duty. She never dreamed that she would have such good fortune.

That day, when Weiwei told Huo Xiao that they planned to move their whole family to Kyoto, she was both excited and worried. For the past two days, she had had a very unreal feeling, as if she were dreaming.

"Weiwei, am I being too greedy by accepting such an expensive gift?"

Ye Weiwei sighed helplessly; this was the umpteenth time Liu Guilan had asked her this question.

When she thought about what Qin's great-uncle would say when he sent the medicinal wine, Ye Weiwei shook her head decisively.

"Mom, if he gives it to you, just accept it. They won't lose out."

Not only did she not suffer any loss, but the Qin family's great-uncle also sent someone to deliver a message—he still had quite a few things in his possession, and asked Ye Weiwei to take a look whenever she had time, and to take anything that caught her eye, as long as he could occasionally have some medicinal wine and tea like these.

Liu Guilan was still somewhat incredulous: "Ginseng is so valuable? One ginseng root can be exchanged for such a big house in Kyoto?" "Weiwei, this house is just a temporary loan for you to live in. After my husband and I pass away, this house will belong to you and Lao San."

Ye Weiwei smiled helplessly, "We'll talk about it later. You and Dad still need to live a long and healthy life."

Liu Guilan, however, was very serious: "Mom's word is final, so it's settled."

While Liu Guilan was looking at houses, Ye Weiwei made an excuse to take a walk around the neighborhood. When she returned, she made a tip-off call to the police station.

Because their home was missing a lot of furniture, Ye Weiwei and Liu Guilan went to a scrap yard to see if they could find some old furniture.

The scrap yard here really had a lot of good stuff. They found three large mahogany carved beds, a set of huanghuali eight-immortal table and chairs, and some other usable items. It was a whole bunch of miscellaneous things. Huo Xiao and the driver found people to help them carry it in two trips before they could get everything home.

Before leaving, Ye Weiwei bought all the jars and vases in the corner.

The old man running the scrap yard was easy to talk to. Seeing that Ye Weiwei and her friends had bought a lot of things, and hearing that Huo Xiao was a soldier, he generously gave Ye Weiwei those broken jars and vases as a bonus.

After leaving the scrap yard and getting into the car to return home, Liu Guilan saw Ye Weiwei putting all those things into her room and asked in confusion, "Weiwei, what do you need all these things for?"

If you really want to pickle vegetables, these jars are too small; they can't hold much and it's too much trouble.

Needless to say, the vases were even worse; hardly any of them were intact, some had a missing corner, and others had cracks.

Ye Weiwei smiled mysteriously, "Watch me perform a magic trick for you!"

After saying that, she reached out and picked up a jar, weighed it in her hand, and then smashed it on the ground.

"Why……"

Liu Guilan hadn't expected Ye Weiwei to smash the things on the ground. It was too late to stop her, and she was heartbroken. "Why did you have to smash it! It was such a nice jar, what a waste!"

Ye Weiwei smiled but remained silent. She kicked around in the pile of shards, then picked up something and showed it to Liu Guilan: "Mom, look what this is?"

Liu Guilan's eyes widened in shock: "This is... gold bars! How could there be gold in this jar!"

After she finished speaking, she quickly looked at the pile of fragments on the ground and found five gold bars. She picked them up and said happily, "Weiwei, how did you find them?"

Ye Weiwei smiled and said, "I felt that the weight of that jar was wrong, and I thought there must be something inside, so I bought it to try it out. Anyway, it didn't cost much money."

Who knew they didn't ask for any money at all.

Liu Guilan was completely convinced. "He truly is our family's lucky star. Wherever he goes, good fortune follows! Are there any other like him in these jars?"

Ye Weiwei shook her head, "This one is different."

The rest are just ordinary jars.

Of those vases, two are quite nice; judging by their age, they're probably from the Song Dynasty.

Liu Guilan wasn't disappointed. "This is good enough!"

These were all freebies.

Ye Weiwei took out three gold bars and gave them to Liu Guilan. Before Liu Guilan could refuse, she forced them into her hand, saying, "Whoever sees them gets a share!"
