Chapter 15 It's Your Own Fault

Chapter 15 It's Your Own Fault

The sky was grey, dark clouds blocked the sun, and drizzles of rain fell.

On the empty street, a woman in a gauze dress sat empty on the steps, letting the rain wash her.

The surrounding shops have begun to close down, and the woman is like a puppet with its strings cut, unable to lift a finger.

Seeing her like this, Dabao's heart trembled. It was autumn and the weather was getting cold, but he felt extremely warm.

"You're looking for me."

Dabao slowly approached the woman, his tone not of doubt or questioning but of affirmation. He admitted that he felt a little heartbroken when he saw Xu Miaomiao sitting on the steps in a daze.

Xu Miaomiao slowly raised her head and rubbed her eyes, then raised her hands tremblingly and gently wiped them on the boy's face: "Dabao? Am I dreaming?"

The woman murmured to herself, still somewhat incredulous, and could not take her eyes off the child who suddenly appeared in front of her.

Dabao frowned, but the little boy had a complicated expression on his face: "It's not a dream."

The cold fingertips rested on the boy's warm cheeks, and Xu Miaomiao finally believed that everything was not a dream.

After she recovered from her shock, she held Dabao tightly in her arms, crying, "Where have you been? You scared your mother to death, do you know that?"

This unexpected hug made Dabao stand there in a daze. After a long time, he slowly extended his hand and hugged the woman stiffly.

Xu Miaomiao took Dabao to a wonton shop and ordered two bowls of wontons. Dabao ate them ravenously, which made Xu Miaomiao feel sad.

Lifting up the boy's hair, Xu Miaomiao said, "What on earth happened?"

Dabao yelled "Wonton" with a slurred voice: "I went to find you, and then someone knocked me out and wanted to sell me."

"Then what?"

Xu Miaomiao's heart skipped a beat. She looked at Dabao anxiously and picked up his little arm to take his pulse.

"I later escaped and reported to the police. The incense they lit had no effect on me at all."

Xu Miaomiao relaxed her frown and understood: she had given the child detoxification pills before, so it was useless.

Xu Miaomiao looked at Dabao apologetically: "I'm sorry, mother will never lose you again."

Dabao looked up and saw the mist in the woman's eyes clearly. His heart felt like it was being pinched.

Dabao nodded stupidly and hummed softly.

As soon as we got home, the second baby jumped off the bed and happily surrounded the first baby, asking him all kinds of questions.

"What happened to Xiaobao?"

Xu Miaomiao carefully noticed Xiaobao's pouting mouth.

Xiaobao grinned at Xu Miaomiao and gestured in sign language: Mother is so great, but Xiaobao can't do anything to help.

Xu Miaomiao touched Xiaobao's head distressedly: "Xiaobao is also very capable, don't worry, mother will definitely cure you."

The boy nodded with a smile.

After returning home, Xu Miaomiao had just changed her clothes when she saw Wu Zhuang coming over with red paper in his hand.

"Mr. Wu, what's wrong?"

Wu Zhuang steadied himself, chuckled and said, "Madam Song, Liu Quezi and the village chief are going to pick up their bride, and I'm here to deliver the invitation."

Xu Miaomiao reached out to take it, and saw that the invitation clearly stated the marriage of Wang Xing'er and Liu Quezi.

Liu Quezi is a well-known deadbeat in the village. He relies on his family's wealth to squander it all day long. He has a mouth full of yellow teeth and a congenital limp, but he often visits brothels. His home is filled with smoke and is a representative example of dirtiness and mess.

When Xu Miaomiao thought of this, she couldn't help but shudder. Marrying Liu Quezi and Wang Xing'er would ruin her next life.

Xu Miaomiao shook her head and handed the invitation back: "Mr. Wu, please congratulate them on my behalf, but I won't go. I have too many children at home to take care of."

Wu Zhuang touched his head awkwardly and stretched out his hand: "Madam Song, the village chief was afraid that you would hold a grudge against me for what happened before, so he asked me to come..."

Xu Miaomiao understood and put away the invitation: "Got it, I will go."

Seeing that she accepted it, Wu Zhuang smiled and left.

After warming up the porridge in the pot, Xu Miaomiao took out a plate of osmanthus cake and chicken and asked the children to eat.

"Mother, aren't you going home to eat?"

Erbao stared at the woman who was packing and asked, Xu Miaomiao said softly: "Mom has something to do at noon, so she will be back later. You guys should take a nap after dinner."

Erbao nodded: "Let's wait for mother."

Xu Miaomiao sighed and took the invitation to go to the appointment.

It’s called a wedding, but it’s just everyone getting together to have a meal.

When Xu Miaomiao arrived, the bride had already gotten out of the sedan chair.

Red silk was hung high above the house, and a festive atmosphere filled the air.

But when passing by Wang Xing'er, Xu Miaomiao only heard a burst of sobbing.

Liu Quezi limped forward and pulled up Wang Xing'er.

The woman moved her body, hesitated for a moment, and then put her hand on him.

Liu Guizi was drooling as he looked at the snow-white, slender fingers. Xu Miaomiao felt her stomach churning as she looked at his eyes and the drool left in the air. Wang Xing'er was afraid that she would suffer in the future.

After the ceremony, Liu Quezi drank the wine until he was dizzy.

Enduring the discomfort, Xu Miaomiao finished her toast and waited for the right moment to sneak away but ran into Wang Xing'er.

"Xu Miaomiao, you should be very proud that I can marry Liu Quezi today."

Xu Miaomiao frowned: "What does your marriage have to do with me?"

"This is all your fault!"

Wang Xing'er was very emotional and stared at Xu Miaomiao: "If it weren't for you, my brother's leg wouldn't have been injured, and my father wouldn't have ruined my happiness for a little money!"

"You have brought this upon yourself."

"Haha." Wang Xing'er smiled cautiously: "I will get revenge."

As soon as the words fell, Xu Miaomiao's legs went limp: "You put drugs in the food."

The only answer she got was silence.

Wang Xing'er moved Xu Miaomiao to the bridal chamber and changed her clothes to put on Xu Miaomiao. She was so excited that she almost burst out: She wanted to see how Xu Miaomiao would still have the face to see people after Liu Quezi slept with her! How would she still have the face to stick with Song Wushao!

Just as she was about to reach out to take off Xu Miaomiao's clothes, she was grabbed by someone. Wang Xing'er was a little surprised and stared at Xu Miaomiao in disbelief.

"A-are you okay?"

"Haha." Xu Miaomiao chuckled: "It's just the most common drug, how could it hurt me? It's you who tried it again."

After saying that, Xu Miaomiao's eyes changed, she held Wang Xing'er's mouth, and slapped Wang Xing'er on the back.

Wang Xing'er was caught off guard and fainted.

Xu Miaomiao helped the fainted woman to the bed and clapped her hands triumphantly: "Wang Xing'er, you can't blame anyone else for what you have become today. It's all your own fault."

After saying that, he was about to turn around and leave.

The wine glass on the table caught her attention. Xu Miaomiao suddenly had an idea. She searched in the space, took out the Hehuan powder and sprinkled it in the wine. She turned around and looked at Wang Xing'er on the bed and said, "Since you like drugging so much, I will fulfill your wish."

After saying this, Xu Miaomiao turned around and went home.
