Chapter 33 Caning
Song Weiwei was stunned for a moment, then turned and left.
When I came in here, I was holding a pair of scissors in my hand.
Song Weiwei clenched the scissors in her hand, sharpened them and pointed them directly at the unconscious man.
"Wei Wei!"
While Xu Miaomiao was scolding Song Weiwei, she looked at the woman's almost crazy appearance and the scissors only a few centimeters away from Xu Shan. She couldn't believe what would have happened to Song Weiwei if she hadn't scolded her.
Song Weiwei reacted, beads of sweat the size of beans on the tip of her nose running down her cheeks, and she slowly handed the scissors in her hand to Xu Miaomiao.
After a while, Xu Miaomiao finished the treatment.
Staring at Song Weiwei who was sitting in a daze on the chair, Xu Miaomiao walked over.
"Why save him?"
Song Weiwei stared blankly ahead and uttered these words lightly.
Xu Miaomiao frowned, stared at her and responded: "He is guilty, but we can't kill him."
"Why! Why don't you just kill him? Do you know how he treated me?" Song Weiwei said as she lifted the clothes on her arms.
The marks of burns and whipping were bloody and shocking.
Xu Miaomiao lifted Song Weiwei's arm distressedly, looked at the red marks, and said with a choked voice: "Why didn't you tell me?"
"Is it useful to tell you? What else can you do besides comforting me? Can you avenge those people for me? Can you kill Xu Shan?"
Xu Miaomiao stood there in a daze, speechless for a moment.
He could only stare at Song Weiwei's frantic look and hold her in his arms to comfort her.
"I know you're sad, but why get blood on your hands?"
Song Weiwei was stunned. Xu Miaomiao let her go and turned to give Xu Shan some medicine.
“Ahem…”
Xu Shan was choked by the water, coughed twice, and slowly opened his eyes.
Seeing that it was Xu Miaomiao, Xu Shan coughed and said excitedly: "Xu Miaomiao, why is it you? What do you want to do?"
Xu Miaomiao picked up a silver needle and looked at Xu Shan, and said fiercely: "Xu Shan, how did you get hurt like this?"
The man's eyes moved, and he turned his head and said, "You hurt me like this. You beat me up when I met a bandit on the road, and you also injured me with that knife."
"Nonsense!" Xu Miaomiao approached him with an acupuncture needle. "The yellowing between your three fingers is obviously caused by frequent dice rolling. You have many wounds, but none of them are fatal. The person who chopped off your fingers even gave you Ma Fei San beforehand. It was definitely not done by bandits."
"You, don't come over here!"
Xu Shan was frightened by the silver needle in Xu Miaomiao's hand and stepped back: "I, I'll tell you."
Seeing that she gave in, Xu Miaomiao put away the silver needle.
"I gambled with someone, lost, and had my finger cut off."
"You refuse to change despite repeated admonitions!" Xu Miaomiao shouted loudly, with a frown on her face.
"Oh, you redeemed her." Xu Shan narrowed his eyes and looked at Xu Miaomiao: "Since you have the money to redeem her, why don't you use some money to help me, your brother."
“Despicable!”
Song Weiwei walked up to Xu Shan, slapped him in the face, and ran away angrily.
"That's not right." Xu Miaomiao said as she walked, "You must have been injured for several days."
Xu Shan was shocked and his eyes widened in fear: "Don't talk nonsense."
"Xu Shan, you dare to go gambling during the period of national mourning after the death of the late emperor."
"I'm not the only one gambling." Xu Shan took Xu Miaomiao's hand and said, "Sister, please have pity on me and give me some money."
"Let go!"
Xu Miaomiao shook his hand away and said in a cold tone: "You have to take responsibility for what you have done."
"I don't care!" Xu Shan threw a tantrum and lay down, starting to act like a rogue: "If you don't pay me, I won't leave. I'll stay at the door of your clinic every day. I wonder how you can continue to run your business!"
"Xu Shan, I have done my best for you. If this is the case, you can't blame me."
After saying this, Xu Miaomiao turned and left.
"Tsk, why are you pretending?"
Xu Shan snorted disdainfully. It was just because he made a fuss that she had to pay the money obediently.
After waiting for a long time, Xu Miaomiao did not come back.
Xu Shan propped himself up and leaned towards Wu Wai, just in time to meet the woman's eyes.
Behind Xu Miaomiao was a group of yamen runners, walking towards the clinic in a mighty manner.
"What is this for?"
Xu Shan looked at the yamen runners who surrounded him and suddenly became frightened and fell to the ground.
"Is it him?"
The bailiff pointed at Xu Shan and then looked at Xu Miaomiao and asked.
"Yes, sir."
Xu Miaomiao nodded.
The leading yamen runner made a gesture and the crowd lifted Xu Shan up: "Someone has reported that you gambled during the national mourning period. We need to investigate thoroughly."
"Hey, no, no, let me go. Why are you holding me?"
Xu Shan wanted to throw a tantrum, but the officers and soldiers were all tough guys. When they saw him resisting, they turned around and pinned the man to the ground.
"Xu Miaomiao, you exposed your own brother. You will be caned. You will be punished."
"Oh, you are brother and sister." The leading man looked at Xu Miaomiao with more admiration in his eyes.
Xu Miaomiao nodded helplessly. There was an unwritten rule in this dynasty that anyone who reported one's siblings or parents would be punished with fifteen strokes of the cane regardless of whether the report was true or not.
Xu Miaomiao was naturally not afraid of the caning, as she had never forgotten their kindness in raising the original owner and that was why she had not reported it to the police. However, her indulgence only resulted in Xu Shan becoming more and more demanding. She could no longer tolerate this evil.
"Madam Xu, please."
The bailiff spoke to Xu Miaomiao, saying that she also wanted to go to the yamen to be punished.
Xu Shan on the side was still shouting. Song Weiwei hid in the corner and watched the scene in front of her. She felt the pleasure of revenge, but tears welled up in her eyes.
Seeing Xu Miaomiao being taken away, Song Weiwei's heart ached.
The doctors who had treated the patients had all left, so Song Weiwei naturally had no reason to leave. She closed the door of the clinic and prepared to go home.
As night gradually fell, Song Wu Shao saw Song Weiwei coming back alone and frowned.
Asked aloud: "Where is she?"
There was always a bad premonition lingering in his heart, so Song Wu Shao couldn't help but look.
"I'm here."
A weak cry brought the two back to their senses.
Song Weiwei saw Xu Miaomiao lying on a stretcher being carried back at the door, and hurried forward.
Just after Xu Miaomiao had been caned, the yamen runner standing by felt sorry for her and called two people to carry her back.
Seeing her like this, Song Weiwei's eyes suddenly turned red and she sobbed softly.
"Okay don't cry, I'm fine."
Xu Miaomiao used all her strength to wipe away the tears from Song Weiwei's face.
"Xu Miaomiao, don't think I will be grateful to you."
Song Weiwei slapped Xu Miaomiao's hand and ran away crying.
Song Wu Shao looked at the woman on the bed, speechless for a moment, and the gloom in his eyes grew deeper.
