Chapter 39: The Clinic Closes

Chapter 39: The Clinic Closes

The strong wind outside the door made the branches rustle, and the swaying tree shadows swayed on the window like hideous monsters.

A loud thunderclap woke Xu Miaomiao from her dream. The wind and rain tonight gave her a bad feeling.

As soon as the wind and rain outside stopped, Xu Miaomiao woke up Song Weiwei and hurried to the clinic to find out what was going on.

As soon as I entered the market, I saw several shop owners cleaning up the remains of their shops with sad faces.

As soon as she arrived at the clinic, she saw that the crowd had surrounded the house in front of her, and Xu Miaomiao was shocked. She squeezed out of an aisle in the crowded crowd, and then she saw the original appearance of the house. The originally standing house had collapsed in all directions. Many herbs were soaked in the rain, causing the air to be filled with the fragrance of herbs.

Song Weiwei, who was following behind, saw that her family's clinic was in a dilapidated state as soon as she arrived. It was shaking in the rain, and the originally intact roof was collapsed.

Xu Miaomiao remained silent and stayed in the rain for a long time.

Song Weiwei was afraid that she couldn't handle it alone, so she kindly put her hand on her shoulder to comfort her: "Don't be afraid, as long as we are still here, the clinic will definitely be able to open."

"I'm fine."

Xu Miaomiao wiped her face, but she couldn't tell whether it was tears or rain.

"Hahaha."

Laughter came from behind. Looking in the direction of the sound, the man opened the fan in his hand and placed it above his head to block the rain. He spoke with a gloating tone, "Doctor Xu, why is your room like this?"

As he said that, he came close to Xu Miaomiao and laughed without any hesitation: "I see why your family is the only one in the house that collapsed here. Is it because you have done too many bad things and this is your retribution? Hahahahaha."

Xu Miaomiao was too lazy to argue with the person in front of her and just glanced at him sideways.

The passersby who were watching the fun felt sorry for Xu Miaomiao's situation. Seeing her being laughed at, they couldn't help but pick up the rotten vegetable leaves washed by the rain and throw them at the man.

"Doctor Xu has done so much for us, she is right."

"Yes, even if God wants to take revenge, he should blame you for deliberately raising the price of the medicine."

“That’s right.”

The crowd rushed forward and surrounded Zhang Zhang, picking up rotten vegetable leaves from the roadside and throwing them at him.

Zhang Zhang was so angry that his face turned red. He put away his fan and pointed at the people in front of him: "You, you unruly people, she went bankrupt, I want to see what you will do if you get sick."

After saying that, he fled in panic.

Xu Miaomiao stepped forward to stop the farce, bowed and apologized to the people in front of him: "Everyone, Jishiditang suffered this natural disaster today, and you are still able to help me. I, Xu Miaomiao, thank you all."

As he spoke, Xu Miaomiao stepped forward and bowed, then took two steps back and said apologetically, "But we no longer have any medicinal materials. I'm afraid I can't keep this clinic going. I thank you all for this period of time."

"No." A woman stepped forward and said, "If Doctor Xu is gone, I'm afraid we won't have a place to see a doctor in the future."

"Yes, yes." The woman next to him responded, "It was you who cured my daughter's infertility. She couldn't have done this without you."

Xu Miaomiao recognized that this was the woman she had visited a few days ago, and she didn't expect that she would speak for her.

He was hesitant in his heart, but when he saw the medicinal herbs in the space that had not yet grown, Xu Miaomiao could only say sorry.

"From now on, if you have any physical discomfort, you can come to me, Xu Miaomiao. But from now on, I am afraid that I can only prescribe medicine and cannot guarantee the supply of herbs for you."

Xu Miaomiao clasped her hands together and said, "Miaomiao thanks you all again."

"Doctor Xu..."

Some people wanted to keep her, but seeing how determined Xu Miaomiao was, they didn't say a word for a long time and could only shake their heads sadly.

Tears flowed down the corners of her eyes. Looking at the wreckage on the ground, Xu Miaomiao felt a pang of sadness in her heart.

Squatting on the ground to clean up, Song Weiwei squatted beside her: "There will always be a way, don't you think about it?"

Xu Miaomiao shook her head. Even if the herbs in the space grew, she would not be able to open the business without the supply of seeds. She didn't want to collude with those people. This road was difficult. She could only blame herself for not considering it clearly beforehand.

After packing up her things, Xu Miaomiao walked aimlessly on the street in dejection.

He didn't notice that the man in front of him accidentally bumped into him.

The man was wearing a long gown, holding an oil-paper umbrella, and holding a book in his hands.

Xu Miaomiao apologized immediately: "My husband, I am so sorry."

Looking at the pages of the book that were wet because of her mistake, Xu Miaomiao spoke apologetically.

The man shook his head indifferently and said slowly: "My wife didn't mean it. I don't care."

Xu Miaomiao asked curiously, "It's still raining, why is this man still studying books?"

"You don't know this. Today is a reading club. Scholars will gather in the restaurant to study books. I have to study hard so that I won't be laughed at by them."

"Book club?" Xu Miaomiao became interested and continued to ask: "Is this book club held frequently?"

The man nodded and said hurriedly, "It is held frequently. I am in a hurry to go. See you later, my lady."

Xu Miaomiao leaned slightly forward to say goodbye to the man in front of her, but she was already making plans in her mind. There were many scholars in this town, and if their reading clubs were held in the restaurant, then the restaurant would definitely make a considerable profit in a day.

Xu Miaomiao was lost in thought. Suddenly, she was stopped by a woman who rushed out and said, "Please, Doctor Xu, save our lady."

Xu Miaomiao recognized the woman as the maidservant beside Gu Yuanniang at a glance. Seeing her anxious voice, she immediately asked, "What happened?"

The woman dragged Xu Miaomiao towards the mansion, chattering as she walked: "It's that Chunhe girl, she's making trouble again."

When Xu Miaomiao arrived, she heard a roar coming from inside.

When she walked in and took a look, she was shocked to see the broken porcelain pieces all over the floor.

Gu Yuanniang fell among the porcelain fragments, and her hands were cut by them. The scarlet wounds looked shocking.

"Miao Miao, why are you here?"

Gu Yuanniang raised her head weakly and looked at Xu Miaomiao with a soft and weak tone.

Seeing her appearance, Xu Miaomiao's heart tightened. He grabbed her hand and immediately took out medicine from the space to bandage it.

"The wound is too deep and needs stitches."

Xu Miaomiao spoke, and the woman said weakly: "Sew it."

"Take this first." Xu Miaomiao took out an anesthetic pill and handed it to Gu Yuanniang.

"What's this?"

"Anesthetic pills can help you relieve the pain."

Gu Yuanniang shook her head and said fiercely: "I just want to remember this pain. I will never forget it for the rest of my life!"

Xu Miaomiao couldn't persuade her and could only take the needle and thread to sew it up.
