Chapter 94: Love Can Change
After sending Cen Nian to the gate of Peking University, Gu Yihuai opened the car door and said with a sincere look: "Niannian, it's my birthday the day after tomorrow. Is it convenient for you to come? You can bring your friends. If it's not convenient, that's fine too."
"The day after tomorrow?" Cen Nian asked. She thought for a moment and said, "It's convenient."
Gu Yihuai smiled even brighter: "Okay, I'll send you the address, you can bring your friends over to play."
"By the way, the theme of this birthday is a no-gift birthday party, so you don't have to prepare a birthday present for me!" Gu Yihuai said to her again: "Remember, I'll wait for you!"
"I've made a note of this. Be careful on your way back."
Gu Yihuai smiled and waved: "Okay!"
He got back into the car and heard a cold voice from the back seat: "Your birthday is the day after tomorrow? How come I didn't know that?"
"Yes!" Gu Yihuai picked a piece of music: "Aren't you flying back to the United States tomorrow? I didn't tell you."
Jin Siyang was silent for two seconds: "The schedule has been changed, and the matter in Beijing is not yet completed."
Gu Yihuai looked back at him with a smile: "That's perfect, you have to come to my birthday too!"
"Um."
The next day.
After Cen Nian finished her class, she followed the crowd to the cafeteria. Song Ze had been waiting there for a long time. When he saw her, he quickly waved, "Little Niannian, I'm here!"
The two stood at the cafeteria door waiting for Zhu Zhiyao. Zhu Zhiyao had fewer classes today, so she wanted to come to the Beijing University cafeteria for free. A few minutes later, Zhu Zhiyao trotted over to them and asked, "Have you been waiting long?"
Cen Nian shook his head: "No, I just got here too."
"Let's go. I'm starving." Song Ze said while touching his stomach.
There were a lot of people in the cafeteria, especially at noon after school. There were long queues at each window. The three of them looked left and right, and they were still struggling for a long time before deciding what to eat.
Cen Nian's mind had been a bit confused the whole morning, and now when he was choosing food, his mind was wandering somewhere else.
It wasn't until Song Ze yelled "Fuck" that she came back to her senses.
"The boy next to Qin Zhouyan is Jin Siyang?!"
"What! Let me see where it is!" Zhu Zhiyao shuddered and looked in the direction Song Ze was looking. Qin Zhouyan was tall and good-looking, and was also famous in Peking University. The boy following next to him was also tall. He was holding a plate in one hand and walking in the crowd.
Cen Nian stared blankly, hearing the conversation between the two people.
"Why do I feel like Jin Siyang has grown taller?"
Zhu Zhiyao: "Maybe it's because we haven't seen him for too long. Can he still grow taller at this age?"
Song Ze always felt that there was something explosive in Zhu Zhiyao's words, but he couldn't figure out what was wrong, so he could only say: "He seems to have become even colder."
Zhu Zhiyao continued to retort: "He is just like that, like a big iceberg."
Cen Nian looked at the familiar person. Because her teacher was there last night and they met again after two years, she was in a highly nervous and panicked state, and it seemed that she did not have time to observe Jin Siyang carefully.
He was still dressed casually, and his noble and aloof temperament was more obvious than two years ago. Perhaps because he had lost some weight, his facial features became more three-dimensional and his jawline was slightly sharper.
Although he looked a little more indifferent when looking at people, he was still the focus of the crowd. Many people glanced in his direction, but only Jin Siyang was indifferent and kept out of everyone's sight.
Qin Zhouyan was also quite clever. He spotted Song Ze and the others right away. He glanced around curiously, "Isn't that Xiao Niannian? Judging from your expression, could it be that you've already bumped into each other?"
Jin Siyang didn't say anything, just glanced at him indifferently.
Qin Zhouyan was as excited as if he had discovered a new world: "Oh my god, I guessed it right, Si Yang, accept your fate, maybe you two really are destined to be together."
"Actually, every time I pass by those young couples at Peking University, I think, if you two came here, it would probably be the same, going to class and leaving get out of class together, you would wait for her in the teaching building, and then have dinner together, and go on a date when you don't have classes." Qin Zhouyan put his arm around Jin Siyang's shoulder and said with a sigh.
Jin Siyang frowned, trying to control the emotions in his eyes: "You don't have a partner either."
"Oh my god, is there anyone who treats brothers like you?" Qin Zhouyan said bluntly: "Since we've met, let's just find a table and eat together."
He made a gesture to Song Ze. Although they didn't see each other often, they had a tacit understanding. Song Ze made an OK gesture and went to find a seat.
After finally finding a seat for six, Cen Nian ordered the food in a daze. She went to get the soup, Zhu Zhiyao went to buy milk tea, and Song Ze brought their food to their seats.
"Jin Siyang, it's really you. I thought I was seeing things!" Song Ze said with a smile.
Jin Siyang nodded and curled his lips politely: "Long time no see."
"It's been quite a while. Is America fun? I heard you went to Stanford, a very famous university."
Jin Siyang responded to every one of his words: "Not bad."
Song Ze placed the plates and looked at the sweet and sour pork ribs in the bowl. He suddenly frowned and asked, "Why did Xiao Niannian order sweet and sour pork ribs?"
"Doesn't she like it very much?" Jin Siyang replied subconsciously. It was not until the three of them were silent for a few seconds that he realized that what he said was wrong.
Qin Zhouyan was undoubtedly a good brother. He spoke to the rescue: "Yeah, I remember she really liked sweet and sour pork ribs, hahaha."
Song Ze swapped his meal with hers. He ordered beef with scrambled eggs today, which tasted pretty good. After hearing what they said, he explained, "She used to like it. She ordered it every day during her senior year of high school, like she was obsessed with it. Then one day, after eating it, she had a stomachache all day and even vomited. From that day on, she never ate sweet and sour spareribs again."
Jin Siyang could barely hold the chopsticks in his hand. He looked at the ribs in the bowl and remembered the man who followed Aunt Liu and kept muttering, "Aunt Liu, I want to eat sweet and sour spare ribs."
At that time, he often joked with her: "Cen Nian, don't you get tired of eating sweet and sour pork ribs every day?"
She bit into the ribs and swore, "Of course not, they're so delicious. I'm a very loyal person. If I like sweet and sour spare ribs, I'll like them for the rest of my life."
Two years is enough to change a person a lot. How much does he know about her now? Thinking of this, Jin Siyang laughed at himself.
Tastes change, and so do preferences.
Cen Nian was holding the soup, muttering, "Hot, hot, hot!" She ran back in small steps. The heat on her hands made her fingertips hurt. There were some oil stains on the floor. Her feet suddenly slipped, and a strong hand grabbed her arm to steady her body.
Some of the soup spilled out and Cen Nian was scalded. The man calmly took the soup and put it on the table.
Jin Siyang's tone was helpless and a bit anxious: "Cen Nian, be careful."
