Chapter 3 Who do you want to scare to death?
Jin Siyang was stunned and suddenly remembered that there was one more person in the house.
He lowered his eyes, showing no emotion, walked to the kitchen, opened the refrigerator, took out a bottle of mineral water, tilted his head back and drank one-third of it. He screwed the lid tightly, held it between two fingers, and slowly walked towards the sofa in the living room.
"Lying here late at night, trying to scare someone to death."
Cen Nian waited for a long time and felt a little drowsy. He retained a trace of rationality in his sleepiness and struggled to wake up while falling asleep.
A deep, clear voice came from her ears, and Cen Nian shuddered. She caught a glimpse of a shadow from the corner of her eye. She rubbed her eyes and looked up. Her mind was stunned for two seconds, and then she stood up quickly: "I...I want to wait for Uncle Jin here. It's my first time here, and I want to say hello to him."
Jin Siyang didn't say anything, but looked at him leisurely. His eyes were slightly cold, even colder than the scattered moonlight.
Cen Nian just felt that the boy in front of her was a little cold, different from the one she saw on the train in the morning. He probably didn't like her. Well, no one would like a stranger suddenly living in their home.
"You've waited in vain." In the silent living room, the young man's voice was clear and cool, and there was even a hint of sneer when listening carefully: "He doesn't even remember that you came to Jiang City today. You still expect him to come back at this time?"
Cen Nian was confused and stayed there for several seconds. It turned out that she had waited for so long this afternoon before Uncle Li came to pick her up. The reason was that Mr. Jin forgot about it. No wonder Uncle Li returned halfway after picking up Jin Siyang.
Her expression didn't change. Mr. Jin was so busy with all kinds of things that it was understandable that he forgot such a small thing.
"Not angry?" Jin Si raised his eyebrows slightly.
Cen Nian lowered her eyes and shook her head slowly: "Don't be angry. Mr. Jin is so busy at work, it's normal for him to forget."
Besides, she knew her place.
"Well, that's very sensible."
Jin Siyang's tone was a little out of tune, with the ending tone rising. It couldn't be called a compliment, but rather sounded like a deliberate mockery.
Jin Siyang took two steps forward and paused: "He won't be back tonight. If you really want to say hello, there will be plenty of opportunities in the future."
Before leaving, he added, "Aunt Liu is used to getting up at night. You'll scare people if you sit in the living room."
Cen Nian nodded: "I understand, I'll go back now."
Looking at his back as he went upstairs, Cen Nian thought absentmindedly that since he didn't like her, she should just try not to appear around him in the future. Living in someone else's house, one naturally had to understand some things.
With a click, the light in the upstairs room closed along with the door. Cen Nian walked upstairs. Aunt Liu cleaned up her room. She was standing opposite Jin Siyang. She walked lightly and carefully, trying not to make any noise.
The room was very big, and the bed was also very big, exactly like the princess bed on TV. Cen Nian took out her pajamas from the suitcase and went into the bathroom to take a shower. When she came out, there was a wave of heat around her body.
From time to time, the sound of insects could be heard outside the window. She lay on the bed, which was just the right hardness and softness. She only slept on one small side. She was so sleepy just now, but now she was not sleepy at all.
Cen Nian turned around, got out of bed again, and took out the photo from the suitcase. It was a photo of her and her grandmother. Her grandmother was holding her in her arms, and she was smiling brightly.
She placed the photo frame on the bedside, feeling more secure. Before she knew it, she fell asleep to the moonlight and the chirping of insects.
Cen Nian slept in, and when she woke up it was bright outside. The sunlight shone through the window screen onto the ground. She rubbed her eyes and checked her phone. It was almost eleven o'clock!
She washed and dressed hurriedly, and when she opened the door, she put away her previous panic and went downstairs a little awkwardly.
Aunt Liu saw her coming down and said with a smile, "Are you awake? Breakfast has been kept warm, come and eat."
"Aunt Liu, I'm sorry, I got up too late."
"The little girl is still growing, so she should get more sleep. Besides, she was busy all day yesterday and she deserves a good rest." Aunt Liu said as she placed breakfast in front of Cen Nian.
She thanked him obediently, remembering that when she went downstairs just now, the door opposite her was still closed. Cen Nian pinched the spoon with her fingers: "Aunt Liu, doesn't Jin Siyang want to eat?"
"Si Yang went out early in the morning, saying he had plans to go out with his classmates."
Cen Nian felt even more ashamed, because she was the one who got up last.
Aunt Liu is very gentle. She likes Cen Nian as soon as she sees him. She has been married to Uncle Li for many years and has a son and a daughter. Because of the Jin family, her children are studying in universities abroad. She treats Jin Siyang and Cen Nian as if they were her own children.
"Nian Nian, after breakfast, let's go out and buy some daily necessities." Aunt Liu cleaned up the kitchen: "It's a good time to go shopping in Jiang City."
Cen Nian nodded in surprise: "Okay!"
The summer in Jiang City is extremely hot. The vast land is like a huge steamer, and all living things are steaming under the scorching sun.
The sun was so bright that Cen Nian couldn't open her eyes. Aunt Liu was driving a cute van. Seeing the curious look on the girl's face, she said, "Summer here is very hot, like a steamer. Spring and autumn in Jiang City are the most interesting. Wait until the National Day holiday or late autumn. There's no better time to visit Jiang City."
After hearing what Aunt Liu said, Cen Nian couldn't help but feel excited. She had one more hope in her heart, which was to see the autumn in Jiang City.
Aunt Liu drove the car to the underground parking lot, and the two took the elevator directly to the first floor. The cool air-conditioned wind mixed with a faint scent of perfume hit their faces. Cen Nian looked around curiously. The shopping mall was very large and the decoration was very luxurious. The white marble floor was spotless and so clean that it could reflect people's shadows.
The perfume is also different from the pungent ones of inferior perfumes, but has a light, elegant and long-lasting fragrance.
Cen Nian looked at her reflection at the door. She was wearing a simple white short-sleeved shirt and casual sweatpants. It was obvious that she was quite old. She looked out of place here. Cen Nian felt a little timid for no reason.
They first went to the supermarket and bought some daily necessities. Later, Aunt Liu took her to the women's clothing floor and picked out a lot of clothes.
"Aunt Liu, I don't want the clothes. I'll be wearing school uniforms after school starts." She looked at the label on the back of the clothes, her palms burning. The clothes Aunt Liu picked out were almost all worth four figures. They were too expensive.
Aunt Liu insisted: "This is Mr. Jin's order. If I don't do it well, what will happen if Mr. Jin finds out?"
"Mr. Jin has helped me so much, I..."
Aunt Liu just stuffed the clothes into her arms considerately: "Go and try them on, these clothes are very suitable for you little girls."
Cen Nian had no choice but to walk into the fitting room. The soft material stuck to her body, feeling comfortable and breathable. When she came out, she looked at her brand new self in the mirror and was stunned for several seconds.
The person in the mirror was wearing a long white dress, and her fair calves and arms looked even whiter and more tender against the backdrop of the dress.
Is this still her?
Aunt Liu nodded with satisfaction: "Nian Nian is so beautiful, her skin is as white as milk."
Cen Nian blushed slightly: "Aunt Liu has good taste."
Aunt Liu really has a good taste. The clothes she picked are very suitable for Cen Nian. Cen Nian is a little flattered. She doesn't know how long it has been since she felt the feeling of having her elders choose clothes for her.
When my grandmother was not feeling well, she usually bought clothes for herself, but she rarely bought clothes, so most of her wardrobe was filled with clothes that my cousin didn't wear, or clothes that my cousin bought that didn't fit her.
Her cousin's style was very different from hers. Cen Nian looked at herself in the mirror. It was the first time she had worn such a skirt. "Aunt Liu, you have good taste. This skirt is very beautiful."
Aunt Liu was so delighted by the compliment that she narrowed her eyes and said, "You're so sweet! That's because Nian Nian is a clothes hanger."
Cen Nian's dimples were slightly curved, and she suddenly thought of the young man. Although his clothes looked simple and casual, they exuded a sense of elegance and fashion, which was very nice.
"Aunt Liu, did you also pick out Jin Siyang's clothes?"
Aunt Liu laughed and sighed, "How could that be! Si Yang chooses all his clothes himself. He buys them all by himself. He has very high standards. There's nothing in his wardrobe that doesn't look good."
