Chapter 0030 Poisonous Snake
The results of Li Jinghao's physical examination at the Public Security Bureau sent chills down the spines of even the most experienced police officers. The results showed that the fluid extracted from his anus and genitals contained the DNA of more than six men. Since there were no matching results in the database, the case could not find a starting point for the time being.
Li Jinghao's eyes were bloodshot, and he was on the verge of madness. He grabbed his hair in anguish, then pulled the police officer handling the case, his expression somewhat neurotic.
"I know who did it! Investigate him! It's definitely him! It was him!!!"
The police were quite sympathetic to his plight. They truthfully noted down Chen Yan's name and comforted him, saying, "Go home first, take a good shower and get some sleep. We will investigate."
Li Jinghao returned to school. Since it was Saturday, and everyone was a college student, it was normal for him not to return to the dormitory overnight. No one noticed that he had been missing for a day and a night. It wasn't until one of his roommates finished playing a game that he gossiped and asked him why he hadn't come back last night, wondering if he had made substantial progress with his goddess.
Li Jinghao acted as if he hadn't heard, roughly pulled out a change of clothes, and headed straight for the shower room.
Amidst the rushing water, a few suppressed sobs could be faintly heard. My roommate sensed something was wrong. After he finally finished showering, he cautiously asked, "What's wrong?"
This is the insidious nature of Chen Yan. He used the most unscrupulous means to destroy a young man's self-esteem, and was certain that the man would not dare to make a fuss about it. Otherwise, even if his classmates did not ridicule him to his face, their sympathy and gossip behind his back would be enough to drive this proud top student of political science and law university to a mental breakdown.
He was also certain that Li Jinghao would not tell his parents, and might even ask the police not to contact them, because his parents had lost his trust two years ago after choosing to accept the 200,000 yuan compensation for their son's beating.
He only dared to silently relive the pain in the dead of night. The lingering shadow in his heart made him mentally disoriented. Then, he would sneak away from the crowd and call the police officer in charge of the case, hoping to inquire about the progress of the investigation.
The first week, the second week... Twenty days after the incident, Li Jinghao finally came to his senses.
He was trembling with anger and went to the police station to confront them. In the police station's territory, the officer, contrary to his polite tone on the phone, impatiently scolded him: "Don't be paranoid! We all sympathize with you about what happened and are investigating seriously, but it takes time, doesn't it? Even a major national case, with all the resources mobilized, isn't something that can be solved overnight!"
"We've investigated Chen Yan too. He has an alibi, is completely innocent, and genuinely likes women. Why would he do something like this?"
"I understand how you feel, but you can't just blame someone else because you're having bad luck, can you?"
Li Jinghao was furious, "He's mentally ill! Because he won't let me see his girlfriend, he's hiring someone..."
He could barely continue, his voice choked with emotion, two streams of tears flowing down his face, his voice filled with unbearable bitterness: "Why don't you check his call records? He must have had someone do it. He's associated with these people, and he might have done other heinous things too. You should investigate further; you'll definitely find a lot more..."
The policeman's face darkened, and he said coldly, "Are you saying we don't know how to handle cases and need you to teach us? The police have their own procedures to follow when handling cases; we don't just do whatever we want. We can't let criminals go free, nor can we wrong innocent people. You should go back now; we'll let you know if there's any progress."
Li Jinghao walked out like a walking corpse. When he reached the door, he suddenly burst out with a huge surge of grief and courage. He rushed up the stairs and thought, "Does the director know that the people below are handling cases so carelessly?"
Although he was unfamiliar with the layout of the Public Security Bureau, common sense told him that the offices of high-ranking officials could not be on the first floor. He would search for the addresses on each floor from the second floor upwards. He did not believe that a bureau chief would allow his subordinates to protect criminals.
Finally, he saw the sign for the director's office. He suddenly became somewhat timid, yet unable to control his anger, and slowly walked forward.
I could vaguely hear voices talking. The two people talking seemed to be having a great time. One voice was deep and resonant, and the other was clear and pleasant.
Li Jinghao suddenly stopped; he recognized the young male voice.
As if in response to his guess, the door opened from the inside, and Chen Yan walked out leisurely. Seeing Li Jinghao standing there dumbfounded, a contemptuous smile appeared on his lips, but when he turned around, he immediately became sincere and polite.
He reached out his hand to the bureau chief, who was flattered and returned the gesture with both hands, beaming from ear to ear.
"Thank you very much, Director Jiang. When you have time another day, I'll have my uncle invite you to our home for a casual meal."
Director Jiang uttered a string of polite words, but his face betrayed his undisguised longing...
The bureau chief was extremely enthusiastic and insisted on personally escorting Chen Yan downstairs, but Chen Yan politely declined.
"I saw someone I know. I'll chat with him for a bit. Director Jiang, you're busy." Chen Yan approached Li Jinghao with a smile, stretched lazily, his joints cracking. He let out a comfortable sigh and asked Li Jinghao with concern, "Old classmate, what brings you here? Did you get into some trouble? I happen to know the director here. Tell me, and I'll put in a good word for you."
Li Jinghao stared blankly at a point in the void, offering no response.
Seeing this, Chen Yan patted him on the shoulder: "What's wrong? Your face is all pale, you look so pitiful."
He smiled slightly, slowly approached the trembling person in front of him, and whispered his true feelings, word by word, in a voice only the two of them could hear.
"Watch your mouth and your stinky tongue. If you dare to get close to her again, I guarantee that this lesson will feel more like a reward than anything else."
Li Jinghao's lips trembled. My God, what kind of venomous snake is entangled with Xu Ruyi?
He admitted that he was afraid...

A month later, Hao Jing came to Jingzhou to visit Ruyi and, while doing so, fulfilled her promise by personally treating Li Jinghao to a meal to express her gratitude.
She sent a dinner invitation on WeChat, but Li Jinghao's reaction was indifferent. He said it was no trouble at all and declined the invitation.
She felt something was amiss and told Ruyi about it.
"I hope he doesn't have a problem with me?" Hao Jing wondered, biting her milk tea straw.
Ruyi hesitated for a few seconds and said, "He deleted and blocked me."
"Huh?" Hao Jing was incredulous. If she remembered correctly, Li Jinghao had a crush on Ruyi in high school. Even now, even though Ruyi has a boyfriend, it still can't stop all sorts of boys from secretly liking her.
"Has he lost his mind? We're from the same school, this is too much! Did you offend him? Or is he in a relationship and his girlfriend forbids him from seeing other girls?"
Ruyi shook her head, indicating she didn't know. Since he had blocked her without saying a word, it meant he didn't want to have anything to do with her anymore, so she didn't go to his school to find him and ask him for an explanation.
But she had a vague suspicion in her heart. Now that Hao Jing was here, and there was a third person present, she wanted to find him and ask him face to face, regardless of whether he was distancing himself from her because he had a girlfriend.
After asking several people, I finally found Li Jinghao in the library of the China University of Political Science and Law.
He was silently reciting legal provisions at the corner of the stairs leading from the first floor to the basement, and he looked much thinner than he had a month ago.
Upon seeing Ruyi and the other person, he was startled and froze for a moment before quickly packing his schoolbag and squeezing through the gap between them to escape.
Hao Jing sighed a few times, and Ruyi quickly stepped forward, grabbed Li Jinghao, her expression filled with worry: "What's wrong with you?"
Li Jinghao seemed to be frightened by her, and said in a trembling voice, "Please don't come looking for me, don't talk to me, please!"
If you see this, and still have any questions, grab his arm tightly and whisper, "Was it him? What did he do to you?"
Li Jinghao was wearing a short-sleeved shirt, and the two of them were skin to skin without any barrier. What would have been a suggestive touch in the past was now nothing short of a death warrant for him.
He forcefully shook her off, the movement quite exaggerated, then nervously glanced around before yelling at Ruyi, "Don't talk to me, just get out of here! Get out!!!"
Ruyi and Haojing were both stunned by his appearance. Ruyi stood there, frozen, when she heard Haojing yell, "Has he gone mad?"
Then he pulled Ruyi aside and comforted her, "He's crazy, don't pay any attention to him, let's go."
Hao Jing was unaware of the inside story, so she sided with her friend. But Ru Yi knew that it was Ru Yi who had harmed Li Jinghao, and that she was not innocent.
