Chapter 438 The Status of the Rakshasa

Chapter 437 The Status of the Rakshasa

Tbilisi, located between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea, was destroyed by war a thousand years ago. Later, the Temple built this ruin into one of the strongholds to defend against the Orcs in order to monitor the Caucasus Mountains to the north.

Tbilisi is a small city, but it has high walls, thick fortifications, and an elite garrison. It has withstood the onslaught of orcish armies several times over the past thousand years and is the largest temple fortress south of the Caucasus Mountains.

Elder Hines was a senior member of the Temple Council of Elders, second only to Grand Elder Ashif in both personal strength and seniority. However, he did not have the same ambition as Elder Charles. He had guarded the remote city of Tbilisi for decades without any complaints.

But today, for the first time in decades, Hines grumbled at the leader of the reinforcements sent by the Temple.

"Wenger! Did Asif only send a few of you to support Tbilisi? Doesn't he know how many enemies are gathered north of the Caucasus Mountains?"

"Your Excellency Hines, I have brought twenty thousand men, all elite warriors, including two thousand knights alone!"

Wenger Stellia was leisurely teaching his students in the Inner Temple, but a few months ago he was urgently sent to Tbilisi. As a key figure in the prestigious Stellia family of Venice, he also had a temper, and he was very unhappy about being looked down upon by Elder Hines.

“Wenger, you should know that what Tbilisi lacks most right now is not warriors, but strong people… super-level strong people! Can you, me, and those knight commanders withstand three orcish high priests?”

"How could there be three Great Wizards? Have they abandoned the eastern defenses? Elder Ryan won't let any opportunity to storm Moscow slip by!"

Wenger clearly didn't believe Hines's words. The number of Great Shamans among the Orcs was limited. If there were three Great Shamans here, then the long defensive line from Riga to the Black Sea would lack sufficient high-level defensive forces, leaving loopholes everywhere.

“Wenger, I personally went to investigate. Four of the seven orc clans have appeared in the north of the Caucasus, and the Blackrock clan in the east has returned. Do you think we can keep so many orcs in check without three high priests?”

"How could this be? Elder Hines, I'm going back to Rome immediately. The council of elders must know the truth about what's going on here!" Wenger was stunned for a moment, then immediately said he could go back to the temple for help.

A mocking glint flashed in Hines's weathered eyes. Having lived so long, how could he not know what Wenger was up to? In the time it would take to travel from Tbilisi to Rome and back, the orcs would have already attacked.

Desertion is desertion, don't try to act all high and mighty! Not a chance!

"Wenger, I already sent a message to Rome. Since the Elders have sent you to provide support, there must be other reinforcements. We just need to wait patiently!"

"This... I'll go arrange the defenses right away!"

Wenger hurriedly went out; he had to arrange some defensive measures, such as which knight commander would continue to command if he couldn't be found after the battle began.

"You want me to die in your place? Dream on!"

If, as Hines said, the enemy has three great wizards after the war begins, Wenger will definitely be unable to find them. He is not a saint-level expert like Hines, who can be almost unstoppable if he wants to retreat. Once he is targeted by the great wizards, the noble Knight Commander Wenger will basically have only one path left: to sacrifice himself for the light.

"Lord Wenger, Elder Hines requests your immediate presence at the Great Temple!" Before Wenger could even finish making the arrangements, Hines' messenger rushed over to deliver the message.

Wenger felt a little uneasy. He had just started making arrangements when Hines came to call him. Could it be that Hines had seen through his plans? As he followed the messenger toward the Great Temple in Tbilisi, he tentatively asked what had happened.

"What does Elder Hines want with me?"

"Lord Wenger, I was unaware of this, but all the knight commanders have been summoned!"

Wenger was no longer uneasy; if everyone had been summoned, it must be related to the enemy situation.

When Wenger arrived at the Tbilisi Grand Temple, the other two knights, Rick and Medel, were already there. Wenger noticed that their expressions were not very pleasant.

"Rick, do you know what happened?" Wenger and Rick had studied together in the inner sanctum before, so they had some acquaintance.

"I don't know the specifics, but Medel just saw Henkel of the Southern Erwin Knights, and it seems they were in a fierce battle!"

"The Knights of Erwin from the south? How could they be in battle? Would those Persian bandits dare to attack the Knights of the Temple?"

The Knights of Erwin are stationed in Erwin, south of Tbilisi, a vital fortress between Tbilisi and the southern city of Lay. It is unlikely that their knights would encounter a battle, given that no one in this land has ever dared to attack a regular knight of the Temple, let alone a Grand Knight like Henkel.

Elder Hines entered from behind, followed by a high knight of the Templars, whose armor was indeed stained with dark blood.

"Gentlemen, I have to tell you some very bad news. The orc army has appeared in our south and has arrived at Erwin City!" Hines announced with a heavy expression, revealing truly terrible news.

"How is this possible? We have countless outposts south of the Caucasus Mountains. Why haven't we received any news? It must be a small group of orc troops who have secretly bypassed our defenses!"

Hines raised his hand to stop the knight commanders from continuing their nonsense, and then had the high knight behind him explain Erwin's situation to those present.
