Chapter 84 Two Jars of Fine Wine
The phoenix-eyed creature couldn't understand why Blackham would choose this place for Ner'zhul's rebirth. It only knew that if Ner'zhul were reborn, the orc race would inevitably undergo a major change, and humanity might once again face a catastrophe.
Blackham carefully took out an object, which was surrounded by a hazy light, making it impossible to see its exact shape. Even with his sharp eyesight, he could only barely make out that it was a... container.
He placed the container on the platform at the very top of the bone tower, then raised his hands and began chanting an obscure incantation. Streams of life began to emanate from the bone tower, like liquid, slowly flowing down the bones into the container at the top.
Blackham's incantation continued, life force continuously flowing into the container. Finally, a reaction occurred within. A desolate sigh emanated from within, causing Dan Yan's heart to stop. It was like an ancient pressure, irresistible to her.
The sighs gradually transformed...rising in pitch, becoming roars and howls, filled with resentful rage. Black flames began to spread around the container at the top of the tower, the immense heat causing the shaman and apprentices on the bone tower to sway precariously, and even Danfengyan, who was quite far away, was scorched.
Blackham roared and changed the incantation, and everyone on the bone tower began to chant along. Ice flowers began to climb all over the bone tower, dissipating the intense heat from the container's surface.
Deep beneath the bone tower lies a massive skeleton that extends to the bottom of the outer lake, channeling the heat emanating from the containers at the top of the tower into the water. The lake water begins to boil, aquatic creatures have long since fled to distant places, and the ice on the lake surface is rapidly melting with a creaking sound.
The roar from within the container grew weaker, as if it were growing increasingly anxious, unable to withstand the onslaught of heat. Its voice began to fill with thirst; it needed more life.
The orcish high shaman's eyes revealed exhaustion. The being within the container was far too greedy, absorbing so much life force yet still unable to escape. He glanced at the terrified Great Xia people in the plaza, and with a wave of his hand, a faint line of blood appeared on each person's body, flowing into the container.
"Awooo..." A satisfied howl emanated from the container, the previously weak roar regaining its strength. Meanwhile, the people of Daxia in the square let out shrill screams, their lives being brutally torn away while they were still conscious; the pain was unimaginable.
Danfeng watched as the container began to shake violently, knowing that the terrifying being inside was about to break free. Since the cultivators had not yet arrived, she felt she had to do something.
Danfengyan drew her heavy sword, put on her helmet, and removed her face shield. She took a deep breath, and her dantian reacted rapidly, with domineering vital energy once again spreading throughout her body.
At the same time, Blackham, who was struggling to hold on at the top of the Bone Tower, suddenly looked in this direction and also noticed the fluctuation of vital energy here.
A figure swiftly rushed out of the window, swept across the rooftops, and leaped into the crowd in the square, beginning a brutal massacre.
Tears began to well up in her phoenix eyes. Her heart was hard, even now it remained hard and resolute, but she couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face.
As the swift and domineering figure with phoenix eyes moved, the shrill screams abruptly ceased, lives were ended, and the blood threads connecting the container at the top of the tower vanished. The being within the container let out a mournful wail.
“Despicable human… Ah! I will tear you to pieces…” Blackham roared furiously. He did not leave the top of the bone tower, but an invisible pressure enveloped Li Fengyan, making it difficult for her to move.
With all her might gathered, Danfengyan hurled the heavy sword in her hand. The sword, like a living thing, circled the square, reaping lives one by one.
Danfengyan's armor began to shine brightly. She struggled to break free from Blackham's hold, grabbed the greatsword that had flown back, and charged towards the outer city.
Blackham hadn't expected this human to break free of his control. The armor she wore was no ordinary object; he could actually sense the aura of a powerful expert on it.
Blackham smiled contemptuously at the departing phoenix-eyed man, his hands slightly bent, and boundless earth power surged from the ground, enveloping the phoenix-eyed man.
Danfeng felt the oppressive aura pressing down on her. She steeled her resolve, and the heavy sword in her hand emitted a dazzling light, as if it were on fire.
Reluctantly, she tossed the greatsword into the air. The greatsword let out a mournful cry, transforming into a streak of light that crashed into Blackham's Earthly Might. The greatsword, its phoenix-shaped eyes gleaming brighter and brighter, grew until it was impossible to look directly at it.
A muffled rumble of thunder echoed in the sky, and a magnificent cloud appeared out of nowhere. An invisible wave of energy spread outwards, causing all the houses below to collapse and large numbers of the pursuing orcs to fall.
Danfeng coughed up blood and fell forward onto the ground. Ignoring the burning pain in her chest, she gritted her teeth, got up, and stumbled out.
Blood flowed from Blackham's eyes and nose. Just now, Danfengyan had detonated his greatsword to block the earth's power, but this had also caused him to suffer a backlash.
He should actually be called a war shaman; he's an anomaly among the orcish great shamans. His talents are all manifested in his physical body. His control over vital energy and mental strength are weaker than other great shamans.
He had sparred with Zhao Qirui several times before, and Zhao's vital energy couldn't harm his powerful physique, while his own indestructible physical strength made Zhao wary. This had once made him very proud, but now he finally felt his strength was insufficient.
The being within the container was still anxiously demanding from him. Unable to leave the bone tower, he could only exert constant pressure on the figure from afar. But the frail human always managed to escape his invisible cage thanks to the extraordinary magic arrays on his armor.
