Chapter Ninety-Seven: The Abnormal Orcs
Kong Yue was in a tough fight. He had single-handedly taken on three orc generals. As for how he did it? It was too easy. The troublemaking ability of the spoiled brats in the capital was no joke. With a barrage of contempt and mockery, the three orc generals took him under their wing and had no eyes for anyone else.
The orcs chose to launch their main attack on the defense zone of the Wu Ning Army in the southern city, targeting Kong Yue's regiment. As the highest-ranking officer, Commander Kong had no choice but to lead the charge and boost morale. Not only him, but the orcs were in the same boat. Two leading orc overseers surrounded Commander Long and kept hacking and slashing. If they were allowed to charge into the ranks of ordinary soldiers, the situation would quickly collapse.
Kong Yue recruited the three orc generals because he feared his own captains wouldn't be able to hold out. If they were wounded, maimed, or killed, morale would plummet. After the morning's battle, the ordinary soldiers' stamina was already waning, and their battle formations weren't as coordinated as before; they were barely holding on.
The long-awaited reinforcements finally arrived, and one of them was a well-known figure... "the weakest Xuan Realm expert in history." But Qin Mo swiftly killed a warlord in a few flashes, much to Kong Yue's delight—his savior had arrived...
Qin Mo glanced at Kong Yue and simply said to him, "Hold on for a little while!" Then she broke off the fangs from the orc warlord's head, cleaned them, and put them into a special bag. These were all money.
Kong Yue started cursing inwardly, "Can't you see I'm about to die? And you're still wiping your fangs?"
He dared to provoke three orc generals because he was hoping that the Grand General's Mansion would quickly send troops to his aid. The majority of the noble private army, which was a reserve force, consisted of cultivators. As long as reinforcements came, they would first resolve their own predicament, because the orc generals' military merits were much higher than those of ordinary soldiers!
Kong Yue had just uttered a couple of complaints when he realized Qin Mo had vanished. When he saw her again, she had already charged into his battle circle. He swung his broken axe, sending an orc general flying with a single blow. Then, Qin Mo's elegant figure caught up and chopped off the orc's head with another axe strike.
Kong Yue saw it clearly this time: Qin Mo's strength, speed, and combat skills were all top-notch. From breaking enemies with brute force at the beginning to chasing them relentlessly later, her combat skills had been honed to perfection, even more effortlessly and naturally than when she killed He Jin in Wulan City.
"Thank you for your help, Your Highness. I'll treat you to a drink after this battle..." With one of the orc generals dead, Kong Yue felt much less pressure and loudly thanked Qin Mo.
"Inviting me for a drink? You've got your eye on my Da Yuan's strong liquor, haven't you...?" Qin Mo teased softly as she cracked her fangs.
"I... Your Highness, please wait a moment. I'll deal with these two generals first, and then I'll explain everything to you in detail..." Kong Yue was a little anxious. The strong liquor was indeed intoxicating, but he was also a playboy in the capital and had some good stuff on hand.
Two muffled thuds followed, and an orc general collapsed beside Kong Yue, blood streaming from his nostrils and his limbs twitching. Apart from still having a breath, he was practically dead.
"Take your military merits." Qin Mo said this and left, leaving behind the stunned orc general and the somewhat dazed Kong Yue. Kong Yue looked at the "military merits" on the ground, thought to himself, "So righteous...", and then roared and charged towards the last orc general.
After the main force arrived at the south city wall, the situation quickly eased. Qin Mo targeted the strong members of the orc race, and the cultivators in the Wu Ning army were freed up to shout and call their subordinates to form a battle formation to defend against the enemy. The arrival of reinforcements also boosted the somewhat low morale.
Qin Mo's elven followers were the real force that turned the tide of the battle. They fired arrows filled with rage at the city walls. Ordinary orcs were easy targets. With their sharp triangular arrowheads and superb archery skills, even elite warriors were repeatedly hit in vital areas and fell to the ground.
The Elven Royal Court was once so powerful in the Western Continent, protecting all the elves and ensuring their happy lives. But now the elven race is reduced to such a state, and the culprit is right before their eyes. Filled with vengeance, the elves scattered, leaping onto the rooftops near the city walls, reaping lives with their sharp arrows.
Qin Mo's two thousand heavily armored soldiers finally arrived at the battlefield, but the city wall was crowded with people, making it difficult to replace the Wu Ning army's soldiers. They had no choice but to push forward from the back and have the elven archers cooperate as much as possible.
After the Da Yuan army and the orcs engaged in battle, the situation on the city walls was finally reversed. Aside from the exquisitely crafted, abnormally protective armor, the sheer number of cultivators in the army was enough to make anyone envious. Compared to the Wu Ning army, the cultivators in the Da Yuan army were like nobles and bumpkins.
Within a single brigade of the Great Yuan Army, there are several cultivators at the Human Realm, and each battalion has at least two cultivators at the Yellow Realm. Qin Lan has fought for the Great Xia for decades, and his abundant military achievements have been exchanged for 'medicines', which is how he accumulated so many cultivators.
The several groups of orcs on the city wall were finally driven back, and a large amount of oil was poured onto the fire ladder, and the raging smoke and fire obscured the entire section of the city wall.
"Your Highness, we owe you a great debt this time. If it weren't for your timely assistance, I would have lost my position as commander." The commander of the Wu Ning army drove the orc overseer off the city wall and came over to greet Qin Mo.
"Let's put that aside for now and see how to defend ourselves!" Qin Mo pointed to the orcs outside the city and said calmly.
Long Ba looked in the direction Qin Mo pointed. Smoke and fire were swirling around the city walls, but he couldn't see anything wrong with it after looking for a while.
Qin Mo sighed, "They're rearranging their forces. All the Rakshasa have retreated, and the front row is full of orcs. Looking at this 'color,' it looks like we're in for a tough fight tonight."
