Chapter Sixty-One Evening Moon
After Dak's death, the Cossack cavalry went into flight mode, fleeing in groups of several dozen in various directions. Meanwhile, the Great Xia cavalry began to emerge from both flanks and converge on the center of the battlefield.
The regrouping of the Great Xia cavalry was not going smoothly. Most of the new soldiers had no experience in controlling horses in the snow. They had switched to being sled drivers after leaving Ulan City, and now they were suddenly riding on horseback again, which was very difficult for them. The veteran cavalry unit, which had always been used as scouts, plus Qin Mo's personal guards, numbered no more than a thousand men. They were simply not up to the task of surrounding a group of Cossack cavalrymen who were determined to escape.
Qin Mo didn't allow cultivators above the Yellow Realm to participate in the encirclement. While a one-sided victory was exhilarating, it wouldn't hone the sharpest edge. Countless examples of the weak defeating the strong told him that only an army with unwavering will and conviction could create miracles. These Cossack cavalry were the perfect whetstone.
On the chaotic battlefield, men and horses were falling everywhere. Cossacks and large armies were all mixed together in a chaotic mess. It wasn't until both sides slowed down and the Japanese spearmen intervened that the Cossacks began to surrender. Without speed, the chances of cavalry surviving the thrusts of a dozen sharp spears were obvious to anyone.
"Grab him, don't let him get away... Damn it... Why didn't you stop him..." A furious voice startled the victorious army, who turned to see a green figure rushing out of the edge of the battlefield at incredible speed, about to disappear into the distance.
Xinsa discarded his battle axe, his throwing axe—everything he could throw away—all to increase his escape speed by even a tiny bit. "These damned Great Xia people! For these lowly Cossacks, they actually used such despicable means to frame my noble orc general, Xinsa..."
Xinsa had already escaped the battlefield, silently cursing himself. He vowed that after this escape, he would never fall for the tricks of the Great Xia army again. He would just follow the orders of Governor Kanas, after all, he was his distant cousin and wouldn't betray him.
Xinsa glanced back. The large army of soldiers was still chasing him frantically, and nearly a hundred cavalrymen from both sides were rushing towards him. Unfortunately, against the orc general who had burned his life force with his special ability, they were destined not to even catch his shadow.
"Where do you think you're going..." A sharp shout struck Xinsa like a thunderbolt, making his mountain-like body tremble. A figure clad entirely in black iron armor, with only his eyes visible, blocked his path. The person wielded a two-handed heavy sword, his figure as imposing as a mountain, and his aura alone made him a formidable opponent.
Without his battle axe and without any energy, Xinsa turned and ran, disregarding all the dignity of the orcs.
Qing Ning was stunned. She had been lying in ambush in the snow for half a day, and hadn't even fought yet... and they'd already run away? ...This...how could this be?
"Stop right there... Military merit..." Xin Sa ran for his life, and a woman chased after him with great effort, like an abandoned wife chasing after her husband.
Everyone was stunned. "What's going on? Are they trying to steal credit?" By the time they realized what was happening, Qing Ning had already chased after Xin Sa and gone far away. Everyone went crazy and started running wildly, following the backs of the two of them. As they ran, they began to take off their iron armor. As for why, didn't they see that Xin Sa had thrown away his big axe?
It was nearly dusk, and the afterglow of the setting sun still shone in the west. Everyone was captivated by the brilliant red sunset, but no one noticed that the bright moon had quietly risen into the sky.
A beam of light flashed by, like the bright moonlight. At the end of the moonlight... Xin Sa's figure suddenly paused, then fell down... never to rise again... and then the belated moonlight pierced through the space above his body... continuing forward until it disappeared.
Qing Ning turned around in horror. He had just felt a terrifying suppression of power, the source of which was in the main camp of the Da Yuan army, a full six hundred feet away from him. To silently take a life from six hundred feet away... could only be achieved by a cultivator at the Earth Realm. It was obvious without asking... only Allen in the Da Yuan army possessed this strength.
Allen has always been very mysterious and low-key. Only the royal family and the powerful families of Great Xia know about him. The source of their knowledge is Qin Lan's evaluation of him: "Allen can contend with all the strong below the realm."
Allen silently put down "Evening Moon." Xinsa had run too far, and ordinary arrows were no longer effective. For the first time in front of everyone, he used the hidden skill of "Evening Moon." The arrow formed from his energy spanned six hundred feet and pierced Xinsa's heart.
Watching Qing Ning's expression shift from shock to exasperation, Allen remained expressionless. "Stealing credit right under my nose... Heh! Let me show you the Elven race's unique archery skills." He turned to look southwest; those were the opponents he needed to take seriously—or rather, just seriously.
The warriors chasing Zinza severed his head, shouting with joy as they ran back. Two thousand Cossack heads wouldn't be worth as much as this orc's skull. The Empire's military merits were always demanding, but also generous; this one head was enough to exchange for a third-tier merit, and nine tiers of merit would allow for a promotion.
The warriors respectfully raised Xinsa's head above their heads, presenting it to Allen. Allen's attack had completely won them over. Although they all knew Allen was strong, and Old Wang and Qin Lan praised him highly, people's impression of Allen was mostly of his handsome face and cold, foul temper. Now, they knew what the myriad magical powers of a powerful Earth Realm expert truly were.
