Chapter 122 Brave Alai
Liu Renguang did not search for three years; he found the copper ore that Qin Mo needed a few days later.
Since the plan was to build Luzon into a city, there had to be no hostile forces within a radius of a hundred miles, not even hostile wild animals. Liu Renguang personally led the cavalry to carefully search the surrounding jungles and plains.
In the fifth phase, Liu Renguang approached the vicinity of Qin Mo's large lake and finally discovered a huge village.
This village could even be called a town, inhabited by many indigenous people who wore bark clothing, with a few exceptions who, unfazed by the heat, wore animal skins.
The town had no walls, but there were several tall trees whose names I didn't know. When the sentries on them saw Liu Renguang and his group, they sounded a dull blast of their horns.
The natives rushed out in a swarm, men and women, all dark yellow, carrying wooden sticks and stone spearheads.
They were visibly stunned when they saw Liu Renguang and his men. They had never seen cavalry before, nor had they ever seen such beautiful clothes.
Liu Renguang and the others did not wear armor, but rather thin cotton and linen blend clothing. This was inspired by the Elven race's research on fabrics at Qin Mo's request. Now, the Elven race has taken a liking to this kind of research, mixing and weaving various different fibers together.
"%&……%¥#!@%%" The leading indigenous chieftain shouted at Liu Renguang and the others.
"Boss, what are they doing?" one of the guards couldn't help but ask Liu Renguang.
"How would I, the governor, know? I only know that those who don't speak our Great Xia language are barbarians, they are bumpkins."
Alai was the chieftain of the indigenous people, and also the strongest among them. He looked at Liu Renguang's clothes with great envy. Although being shirtless showed off his strong physique, which set him apart from the other tribes, it didn't keep out the ever-present mosquitoes and flies. Liu Renguang's thin, dense clothing, on the other hand, was clearly a high-quality item.
"This is the territory of the valiant Alai. Everything on this land belongs to me, Alai, including the clothes you wear..." Alai remained cautious about the unfamiliar cavalrymen, intending to use verbal intimidation to subdue them.
Looking at Alai, who was speaking in gibberish, Liu Renguang cleared his throat and announced loudly, "This is the territory of His Highness Prince Heng of Great Xia. I hereby declare that you have become subjects of the Governor-General of Luzon under Prince Heng's rule, including your children..."
“@#¥¥%%……&*” Alai said.
“@#¥%……&*” Liu Renguang said.
"As expected, he's a bumpkin. Fine, to catch the thief, catch the king first. As the prince said, 'The truth lies in the fist.' Let's see whose fist is harder."
Alai's voice was hoarse from shouting, and his patience had run out. He picked up the stone axe in his hand, ready to teach the other side a lesson. They only had a few dozen people, while how many did he have on his side? Several thousand, I suppose. That was the tribal shaman's count; only he could count the heads.
Before Alai could move, the dozens of people opposite him started moving. Judging from their direction, they were clearly coming towards him. Alai became excited. He had killed countless tribal chiefs and warriors. Today, he would let these strange-looking people taste his power.
Alai discovered that the enemy was much faster than he had imagined. Their horses were running incredibly fast, and the weapon in the enemy leader's hand was also strange—dark and gleaming with an odd light.
Alai's battle axe clashed with Liu Renguang's horse-slaying saber, and then... that was it. The cavalry formed a cone, clashing back and forth, maintaining their speed. The natives, who had never seen a cavalry charge, didn't understand that a dense formation was needed to slow down the cavalry. The outcome of the battle was predictable.
A bucket of cold water was splashed on Alai's face, leaving a bright red mark—clearly caused by Liu Renguang's slash. He shook his head, still seeing stars, while pondering what to do next.
"Bang!" A large green stone was thrown in front of him, right next to his eyes where he was standing on the ground.
“@#@%#@¥%…” The cavalry leader said half of it to Alai.
"Bang!" Another pale green stone hit the side of Alai's head, giving him a clear view.
“!!#@!%@#¥…”
Listening to the other party's gibberish, Alai was extremely anxious. He wasn't stupid; the other party was trying to force him to reveal something, such as where his treasure was. But why was the other party showing him these broken stones? These kinds of stones were everywhere on the mountains over there. Brave Alai had good taste and wouldn't collect such junk.
As Alai watched his opponent gradually lose patience, his not-so-large hand gripping the terrifying weapon, Alai knew he was doomed. His hardest stone axe had been cleaved in two, and his head would surely be split in two as well.
“There are many stones like that over there. I don’t have any at home. I only have shiny stones…” Alai finally made the wisest decision of his life. He pointed to a big mountain behind him and kept begging in his hoarse voice.
"They're all a bunch of damn bastards, but they're not entirely useless. At least they can't find the...copper mountain in this jungle." Liu Renguang arrived at Alai's place and sighed deeply.
Qin Mo personally came to the foot of "Copper Mountain". Looking at this huge porphyry copper mine, he said to Liu Renguang, "Renguang, you have accomplished such a big thing in just a few days. It seems that I will be able to fulfill my promise and let you return to Dayuan in a few months."
"Your Highness, I was foolish. Your Highness has appointed me as governor of such an important place, which is a sign of your cultivation. I will definitely protect this land for Your Highness until my dying breath."
