"They're here!"
Just as Qin Mo couldn't help but want to tell a joke to comfort her, the Holy Maiden pointed to the distance, and a figure quickly approached in the night.
The newcomer was very thin, making him appear very tall. In the chilly early spring, he wore only a robe commonly seen on people from the West, like a destitute beggar in a slum.
"He is Prometheus, the ascetic of the temple, a man worthy of respect," the saintess explained to Qin Mo, noticing his unusual gaze.
Qin Mo suddenly realized that the ascetics of the temple had a long history. They would choose to live a very poor life and do things that ordinary people could not do in order to achieve spiritual purity and liberation, and to make themselves stronger.
"Hatherine, I didn't expect them to send you. Who is this?"
Promi came up to the two of them, and was clearly surprised to see Heatherine. Then he looked at Qin Mo with a puzzled expression.
Qin Mo was also observing Promi; it was the first time he had ever seen an ascetic.
Promi's face was hidden under his hood, as if he didn't want anyone to see his face clearly. He didn't exude any aura of a strong person, but Qin Mo felt an extreme sense of danger when she looked at him.
"This is Lord Qin Mo, a cultivator from the Great Xia Dynasty who came to the Holy Temple. The Riga Defense Zone is about to start a war, and we are short-handed. Qin Mo has experience in going deep into the snowfield to kill orcs, so Elder Rhine chose the two of us to cooperate with you."
Promi politely pulled down his hood, revealing the face of a handsome middle-aged man. He nodded slightly and said, "Welcome, young man. Thank you for coming to help the Westerners resist the orcs."
Qin Mo returned the greeting simply, smiled and said, "Our Great Xia is also threatened by the orcs. They are our common enemy. I am actually fighting against the orcs for ourselves."
The handsome middle-aged man, Prometheus, gave a knowing smile, nodded without saying anything, and then began to speak with Saint Heather. They were speaking in Latin, and very quickly, so Qin Mo could barely understand them.
The two discussed until dawn before Prome took his leave, and Saint Heatherine then turned back to explain to Qin Mo.
“Promi discovered unusual activity by the orcs in the northern White Sea. It seemed they were building some kind of altar. He tried to sneak in to find out more, but failed each time, so he asked the temple for help.”
Heatherine, fearing Qin Mo might not understand, continued, "Prome has been operating in the orcish rear for over a decade, killing many orcish powerhouses and providing us with a wealth of valuable intelligence. He has never asked the Temple for help before; this is the first time."
"Hasn't returned to the temple for over a decade? Has he been cultivating here in asceticism all this time?" Qin Mo gasped, filled with admiration. He knew he could never do that.
"He was once the most outstanding knight in the temple, but he was heartbroken and chose to become a monk."
"Damn it, who is so cruel as to hurt such a devoted and handsome strongman?" Qin Mo looked at the figure disappearing into the distance and felt a surge of indignation.
