Chapter 350 The Free Spirit
Gina ran with all her might, and neither ditches nor streams could stop her. She ignored the small branches blocking her way and smashed them off.
If she hadn't been like this before, she would have gracefully shifted her position to dodge, like a gentle breeze in the forest, never harming a single blade of grass or tree.
But she couldn't care less today. Her brother was still fighting behind her, and he had given her the only chance to escape. She couldn't fall into the hands of those people.
Gina felt a sharp pain in her heart as she thought of her brother who had always loved and cared for her, but she did not shed a tear. As a free spirit of the jungle, she had long since run out of tears.
Gina abruptly stopped in her tracks, her birch bow already nocked an arrow. She tried to suppress her grief and calm herself down, because if she was agitated, her accuracy would be greatly reduced.
Several figures gradually emerged from the dense forest ahead, and commotion came from the side and behind. She... was surrounded, surrounded by a group of elves just like herself.
“Gina, I remember the last time I saw you, you were only this tall. Even then, you were already stunningly beautiful. We all thought you were the most beautiful flower in the Amor tribe.”
A strong male elf stepped forward, gesturing to his waist with his hand, and spoke to Gina with a smile, as if they were chatting casually among relatives and neighbors.
"Look at yourself now, barely clothed, with dull skin, and wielding a weapon that even savage orcs would despise. Do you still deserve the noble title of the Silver Moon Clan?"
"The Silver Moon Clan? We have been unworthy of being called the Silver Moon Clan since the Silver Moon Clan left this land six hundred years ago. Since you succumbed to those filthy orcs, you have been unworthy of being called elves!" Despite being in danger, Gina did not hesitate to retort. Even in death, the free and noble elves would not lower their noble heads.
"It seems we can't reach an agreement. So what should we do with this 'free spirit'? What's his name again? Oh... his name is Harrens, your foolish brother!"
A blood-covered figure was thrown out, his left thigh and right arm in an unnatural shape, clearly broken.
"Kobir, you traitor to the Elven race, you bastard of the Onses tribe, your despicable acts will one day incur the punishment of the Moon Goddess..." Halens, lying on the ground, endured the excruciating pain and cursed at Kobir, the leader of the Elven hunting party.
"Harens, your folly has brought endless disaster to you and your sister. You could have lived happily in our tribe, but you chose to exile yourselves, leaving Gina, this beautiful flower of Amor, to suffer in the wild with you. And now, you have made an even more foolish choice."
Kobir's two long ears began to twitch. Elves familiar with him knew this was a sign that he was about to unleash a killing spree. As the most bloodthirsty elf in the Onses tribe, he would never leave his enemies with intact corpses.
"Buzz!"
Gina, who had been crouching on the ground, took the initiative and fired three arrows at Kobil's head, throat, and chest. With this archery skill alone, she was worthy of her identity as an elven archer.
"laugh!"
Kobil let out a mocking laugh, his figure slightly dodging the two arrows aimed at his head and throat. He then drew his longsword, deflected the remaining arrow, and shot towards the frail and short Gina.
Despite the danger, Gina remained calm, nocked three more arrows, and retreated rapidly. Midway, she aimed at the rapidly charging Kbil and steadily fired the three arrows.
Kobil deflected one arrow, paused slightly to dodge two more, and once again caused Gina's attack to miss. However, he also stopped his momentum and distanced himself from Gina again.
The key to the duel between elven archers and elven warriors is distance. Archers will try to maintain distance, while warriors will desperately try to get close and kill.
Kobil was furious that he couldn't win against Gina cleanly and decisively. There were more than a dozen of his teammates watching him. If he couldn't win decisively and beautifully, what right did he have to be their captain?
Kobil lunged forward again, and Gina gritted her teeth and began to desperately maneuver around him. The confined space limited her performance, and the rough birch bow was not powerful enough, resulting in insufficient arrow speed. If Kobil had not been unwilling to suffer even the slightest injury, she would have been caught in close combat long ago.
Gina circled around the area marked out by the elves. Unlike a true elven archer, she couldn't advance or retreat as she pleased, because she had no way out and could only put up a futile resistance.
Gina already knew her fate. After the last three arrows left the bowstring, she didn't even look to see if they had hit their mark. She simply pulled a delicate dagger from her waist and slashed it towards her own neck.
This dagger is the only item passed down in the family. It is said to have been forged by a real elven blacksmith when the elven royal court existed. Even when the siblings were at their lowest point, they were not swindled away by greedy smugglers.
The dagger was sharp enough, and Gina's timing and location were perfect. She was sure she could slit her own neck and die peacefully. As for her brother, Harrens, whether or not she was sold, there was only one ending awaiting him.
The dagger touched Gina's skin, and the surrounding elven warriors began to gasp in alarm. Kobil was furious, but he had just dodged Gina's last three arrows and was too late to stop her "suicide."
The dagger was gripped in her hand. Gina felt as if those long, slender, white fingers had appeared out of thin air, leaving no trace whatsoever.
