Chapter 378 The Price of Being a Saintess
The deep night has finally passed, and dawn has quietly arrived.
Elisa waited another night.
She was very anxious; she wanted to prove herself as the most suitable candidate for sainthood as soon as possible, so she had a strong yearning for the light.
Yesterday she tried to comprehend the Book of Light again, but the results were very poor... she actually fainted!
Elisa had never hated her own cowardice so intensely for wasting such a precious opportunity.
The Book of Light cannot be comprehended at any time. Each comprehension requires prior application, and the book can only be made available for study after it has been filled with light.
"You're too hasty! Don't come again this month!" This was the advice given to her by Knight Commander Lymandor of the Temple of Light.
Elisa knew Lymando meant well, but she couldn't help feeling resentful because she felt the effects of the *Book of Light*... weren't as effective as Heather's on-site guidance. And now, with restrictions on the number of times it could be used, how could she not resent it?
The Book of Light can convey the feeling of light to Elisa, but that light is harsh and awe-inspiring, filling Elisa with awe.
The light that Heather gave her was gentle and intimate, making it easier for Elisa to feel the true meaning deep within the light, and that light was more likely to merge with Elisa's consciousness.
If it weren't for the unpleasant incident a few nights ago, Elisa wouldn't have wanted to study the Book of Light at all. If she had just followed Heather's guidance, she would surely have comprehended the light and become the next saintess.
"It seems that Princess Heatherine still cares about this white gauze robe that symbolizes purity and holiness, but how can you blame me? It's not like I forbid you from wearing this kind of dress anymore."
Now, Elisa's feelings toward Heather have changed slightly. She is unwilling to lose Heather's guidance, but she also wants to interact with her as an equal, which puts her in a very difficult position.
"well!"
Elisa sighed softly, got up to go eat, and felt rather uncomfortable waiting all night.
Are you very tired?
Hearing that familiar voice, Elisa felt a surge of joy, knowing that His Highness had arrived silently as usual.
Elisa finally decided to lower her stance a bit more. In order to comprehend the power of light as soon as possible, she had to give up some pointless insistence.
"To receive His Highness's instruction, Elisa only feels honored, how could she feel tired?"
Elisa gave a soft reply and turned to look at Heatherine behind her.
Then she froze, and then envy, jealousy, and resentment began to creep into her heart.
As the dawn broke, the light streamed into the hall. A white veil woven from fine silk draped over Heatherine's body, its shimmering light creating a dreamlike effect.
"What kind of outfit is this?" This was the only thought that remained in Elisa's mind.
When Heather saw Elisa's completely bewildered expression, a strange feeling welled up inside her. She knew what this feeling was; Qin Mo called it... a little smugness, a little pride.
The voluminous skirt cascaded down to her ankles, concealing her matching white high heels. Her slender waist was adorned with delicate shimmering threads, and her arms were covered by a thin veil of silk.
The flowing veil concealed the olive branch crown on her head, fulfilling her promise to "smile only for someone."
This is a dress that doesn't reveal a single inch of skin, yet it's breathtakingly beautiful.
Even more amazingly, Qin Mo gave her an idea, telling her to let out a sliver of light, and the gauze skirt woven from a special material immediately took on a misty, cloud-like effect.
"Are you ready, Alyssa?"
"Uh!...Your Highness, I'm ready!"
"What have you prepared?" Heather asked playfully, suddenly finding Elisa's bewildered expression quite amusing.
“Oh!.....I am ready to accept Your Highness’s guidance. I need to find the power of light!” Elisa spoke the truth; she really needed Heatherine’s help.
"Hmm...be patient!"
A ray of light seeped into Elisa's body, causing her excruciating pain. Strangely, she was completely out of sorts today, seemingly unbearable even the usual pain. Her mind was filled with curiosity about the white gauze dress.
The dress was simple in design, but every fold and turn was perfectly beautiful. Compared to it, the gauze robe I was wearing looked like something only a country bumpkin would wear.
"That's all for today's lesson! You've been working too hard these past few days and need to rest! I'll come back in three days!"
After speaking, Heatherine walked towards the door. At that moment, the sun was rising, and the sunlight shone on her gauze dress, making her appear even more holy.
“Your Highness…” Elisa couldn’t hold back any longer and called out to Heatherine despite the burning pain in her body.
"Um?"
"Your Highness...where were your clothes made?" Elisa asked shyly.
Heatherine paused, a sweet feeling melting in her heart, then looked at the timid Elisa and said, "Since you're going to be a saint, then... you won't wear this kind of dress anymore!"
"Why? Why can't I wear it?"
Elisa's resentment erupted, and she raised her voice to question the figure that was about to disappear into the sunlight.
"Because this is the price of being a saint!"
The reply, carried from afar, startled Elisa. After a long pause, she angrily retorted, "The price of a saint? Does that mean a saint can't wear a dress?"
