Chapter 597 Predator
Thick, dark clouds swirled in the sky, flashes of intense, dense lightning constantly streaking both inside and outside the clouds, forming a massive vortex around a black hole in the center. From the center of the vortex, a bright blue beam of light shot straight to the ground, radiating intense light in all directions. Qin Mo, standing nearly a hundred miles away, could see it clearly.
"According to my father, we aliens seem to have come into this world in the same way. There are many ancient civilizations in this world that we still find difficult to understand, and they can connect to our past world under certain circumstances."
"Then why did you build the royal court here after discovering the temple? Are you trying to open an interstellar passage to conquer the infinite starry sky or something?"
Qin Mo hadn't yet recovered from the shock of seeing the giant pillar of light when she complained to Nelia.
Ignorance is terrifying. Are aliens so easy to mess with? They're all ignorant people who haven't read "The Three-Body Problem"!
Nelia glared at Qin Mo fiercely: "During the eight-hundred-year war with humans, the ancestors of the Elven race all died. We don't know what the ruins that guided us to this world look like. And this temple is obviously not long ago. It is completely different from the 'ancient ruins with history' described by our predecessors. In addition, the World Tree desperately needed a place with abundant star power to be cultivated, so we made a fatal mistake and transplanted the World Tree into the city of the natives."
"You mean these natives have the ability to build 'interstellar tunnels'? That's too fantastical!"
Nelia shook her head, her face dejected: "They simply built the temple to worship the gods according to the methods passed down from ancient times. It must be the World Tree that gave the temple its magical abilities. Alas... in your Great Xia people's words, it's all fate!"
"Fate? Don't you know my fate is in my own hands, not in the heavens? Let's go! Take me to see the World Tree first. These alien visitors have only conquered such a small piece of land after so many years. I think they're just a low-level civilization, nothing special!"
Nelia was displeased and blocked Qin Mo's path with a whoosh, her eyes misting over: "What's so great about it? Do you know how many of our elven brothers and sisters have died over the years to resist them? My father and your mother are still fighting to this day! If it weren't for the elves' perseverance, they would have conquered this continent long ago."
"...I'm sorry, Nelia. I apologize for my inappropriate words and actions. Actually, you should have gone to the Western Continent and Great Xia for help much earlier..."
“We brought this trouble upon ourselves, and we will bear the consequences ourselves. We never thought of running away, nor did we ever think of begging for anyone’s mercy.” Nelia raised her chin and turned to walk towards the temple, her tall and thin figure exuding a strong sense of stubbornness.
After entering the open area, Qin Mo felt the "evil power" that Nelia had described. It was invisible and colorless, but it was truly embedded in Qin Mo's body.
At first, the pricking only made Qin Mo feel a little numb and itchy. As Qin Mo went deeper into the interstellar passage, the numbness and itchiness turned into pain. Finally, when Qin Mo, Nelia, and Allen quietly crept to a place two or three miles away from a black building, an evil force several times stronger finally seeped into Qin Mo's body.
Qin Mo had already instructed Xiao Nieyan to be on high alert. This foreign power was devoured as soon as it entered Qin Mo's body, without even making a ripple. This displeased Xiao Nieyan, who hadn't even tasted whether it was sweet or salty yet!
"Are you feeling unwell? Can you keep going?" Nelia turned to ask Qin Mo, her voice both worried and cold, clearly indicating that she was still somewhat emotional.
"Yes, a little, but it's all over now. Is this the monster's castle you mentioned?"
“Yes, every time they advance a certain distance, they build these castles, and these castles emit this evil power, and then our jungles wither and our people suffer great harm.”
Qin Mo looked through the telescope at the black castle in the distance. It had an imposing shape and size, and a strong evil aura emanated from it, spreading into the surrounding air like a hungry wolf searching for its prey. Nelia and Allen had already coated their bodies with a layer of faint starlight to resist its corrosive influence.
"I need to verify something important: if they break out, will it affect us?"
"You want to test if your rifle can kill these monsters, right?"
"Oh my! Cousin, you're so smart! No wonder you're the clan leader!"
"snort!"
Nelia turned her head away, ignoring her nonsensical cousin Qin Mo, but she was still somewhat smug: "I am definitely smart, at least no worse than you."
Qin Mo quietly crept forward a few hundred meters, finally entering the optimal firing range of the "big gun," and then fired a shot at the castle. He then saw several monster sentries who had come out to investigate.
"He really is a Predator, and he's fucking ugly!!"
What appeared in Qin Mo's scope were several humanoid creatures, averaging two and a half meters tall, with broad frames and a very fierce appearance. Their heads were similar to those of the Predator, with a dozen or so things that looked like braids or tentacles hanging down on the sides of their heads.
These monsters looked similar to the Predators Qin Mo knew, except they didn't wear masks, and their black faces had no lips, leaving only a set of fine steel teeth exposed, with saliva dripping down, which was quite disgusting.
To avoid disgusting herself, Qin Mo planned to send them to the Western Paradise to purify their own evil, and perhaps see if they could be reborn into a better family in their next life and be more attractive.
