Chapter 267 Refusal to Sign
“Your Excellency Audrey, I think you should explain why you have suddenly appeared here. We have only been in Suez for two days.”
“You are a member of the Great Xia royal family, not our royal family. I don’t need to explain anything to you. After I take Shia away, you will never see us again.”
Qin Mo laughed. The aloof woman sounded intriguing, but actually talking to her was awkward and boring.
Do you think... I'd let you take Shia away?
Seeing that the two were about to start fighting again, Shia immediately stepped between them. "Aunt Audrey, can you take me to see my mother now?"
Audrey looked embarrassed. "I'm sorry, Shia, I didn't know where Melia hid your mother, but I've been sending people to look for you..."
"Then...then, Aunt Audrey, I'll stay with Qin Mo for now, and as soon as you have news of my mother, I'll come back to you...okay?"
Audrey's face showed a look of sorrow, and she asked Shia a question in a singing voice.
Shia blushed and nodded after fidgeting for a while.
"Your Excellency Qin Mo, I respect Xi Ya's choice, but I also hope you will treat Xi Ya kindly and not make things difficult for me. If I find out that you have hurt Xi Ya, hehe! I will definitely take your life."
"Since Shia came with me... she has been very happy."
Shia nodded vigorously, agreeing with what Qin Mo said.
"Alright! Now that you've found me, when are you going back to Great Xia?"
"Oh! We're not going back to Great Xia for now; we're going to Rome. We'll write to you once we get there. Let's just keep in touch!"
Audrey's expression immediately changed, becoming very strange, and then turning into anger.
"Shia, didn't your mother tell you that you can't go to Rome?"
“I…I don’t know! Aunt Audrey…my mother didn’t tell me.”
Audrey was even more furious. "How could Debbie be so foolish as to not even tell you something so important?"
"I...I ran away in such a hurry, my mother probably didn't have time to tell me..."
Audrey sighed and said, "Come with me!"
Audrey led the way, followed by Qin Mo and Shia, as they walked along the garden path deeper into the woods, where a riverside mansion was nestled amidst lush greenery.
Audrey reached out and parted a layer of water vapor barrier, revealing the mansion clearly. Upon entering, she saw colonnades, flying eaves, carved stone walls, and an architectural style that differed from both the Western Continent and the Great Xia.
A row of beautiful women were already waiting on both sides. Upon seeing Audrey, they all bowed their heads in greeting, clearly indicating that Audrey was the hostess here.
"Don't be curious, this is my place. After you landed yesterday, some of my people noticed that Shia was different. This morning I went to look for her, but you were out, so I waited for you in the garden."
The hall was very spacious, with a high platform at the far end where a silver chair sat, which appeared to be Audrey's chair.
But Audrey didn't sit in that chair. Instead, she led the two into a small hall and sat them around a long table to show that the three of them were equals.
A beautiful maid came in and served fruit and wine. In this world of ***, being able to drink wine was a truly unexpected delight.
"Are they... all mermaids?"
Looking at the two rows of beautiful women serving outside, Qin Mo's curiosity was piqued. If so many "Little Shia" formed a naval special forces unit, who on the ocean would dare not pay protection money? They could capsize whichever ship they wanted, however they wanted.
“This is a secret of the sea creatures!” Audrey’s attitude remained icy.
“Oh! Lady Audrey, I can leave the other secrets as they are, as an outsider I shouldn’t pry into them, but could you please explain why Shia can’t go to the Western Continent…?”
Audrey glanced at Qin Mo, finally satisfied with his polite and respectful attitude. After a long sigh, she recounted a hidden story from a hundred years ago.
One hundred years ago, the sea creatures lost their last emperor, Oradin the Great, because there was no male heir among the mermaids. Shia's grandmother, Ferrari, succeeded to the throne and became Queen Ferrari.
Queen Ferrari is indeed very powerful, but she cannot create tsunamis and storms out of thin air like Emperor Odin. These two talents have always been hidden talents of mermaids, which most male mermaids cannot inherit, let alone female heirs.
After losing these two powerful, wide-range deterrent skills, the Sea Clan's position has been squeezed by other races, with the Blood Clan and the Temple both coveting the Sea Clan's vast profits and riches.
Queen Ferrari was decisive. She approached the vampire tycoon and the Grand Elder of the Temple, directly stating that she would cede the richest Mediterranean coast and retreat to the oceans.
Both the vampires and the temples must acknowledge the sea creatures' dominance over the ocean, or else a war of annihilation will ensue! All the ports along the Mediterranean coast will be destroyed in the war.
"The vampires and the temple agreed to Queen Ferrari's proposal, and the three parties signed a secret pact. The queen traded the sea people's foundation for temporary peace."
"And so, we sea creatures left the Mediterranean, where we had lived for millennia. We can never return to Marseille, Seville, Alexandria..."
Hearing Audrey reveal the secrets of the sea tribe, Qin Mo still had some doubts, and he couldn't help but ask the question that had been lingering in his mind for a long time.
"Although we abandoned the Mediterranean, why is there no news of sea creatures anywhere else?"
