Upon seeing this, Su Yi hurriedly picked up his luggage and left.
Jiang Shuwei held her mother's hand and looked at the house in the camp that she had never seen before, her eyes full of confusion.
"Mom, why do you live here?"
Ye Jingzhu opened a cellar and walked down with his daughter.
A dim cellar-like room came into view. The air was moist and heavy, with a faint smell of charcoal and mugwort.
Looking at the simple living environment in front of her, tears gathered in Jiang Shuwei's eyes again.
"Mom, you've suffered so much. I should have come earlier."
Ye Jingzhu had recovered at this moment. Hearing her daughter's crying voice, she hurried to comfort her:
"Stop crying, or you'll have a headache later. Who is this lesbian? Why don't you introduce her to me?"
Jiang Shuwei took the wet towel handed to her by her mother, wiped her face, and introduced Su Yi.
When Ye Jingzhu heard that it was the close bodyguard arranged by his in-laws, he felt extremely grateful.
"Weiwei, how have you been doing with the army these past six months?"
When Su Yiyi heard this topic, he wisely took the wooden barrel and left, leaving the space to the two women.
"Mom, do I look like I'm having a hard time? You've lost a lot of weight."
Ye Jingzhu looked at her carefully and saw that her eyes were open, so he smiled.
"We are fine. We are in good health."
Jiang Shuwei frowned as she looked at the mosquitoes flying around the room. She took out a string of jade-colored rattan needles from her space and wrapped them in gauze.
"Mom, this is rattan vine. It can repel insects and calm the nerves. Even if it dries up, it won't affect its efficacy. Once the vine is broken, it's gone."
Ye Jingzhu hurriedly reached out to take it and hung it on the mosquito net at the head of the bed. This was a good thing.
"Mom, where does Grandpa live?"
The room only had a simple wooden bed and was too small to accommodate anyone else.
"Your grandfather and his family are old and have moved into a dormitory. We've only been here a short time, so we need to take our time to build the house."
"Then I have to secretly make a small wooden box for Grandpa to repel mosquitoes."
Ye Jingzhu looked at his daughter with joy in his eyes, "Are you tired? Do you want to take a nap?"
Jiang Shuwei shook her head and took her mother's hand to let her sit on the wooden bed.
He took out a milk fruit from the space and handed it to her, "Mom, eat it, it's good for your health."
Ye Jingzhu looked at the palm-sized milky white fruit in amazement, took it curiously, and found it magically soft to the touch.
Since Weiwei said she could eat it, she didn't hesitate and kept her eyes on the door, afraid that someone would come.
You can’t stop eating it after one bite. It tastes so good. Ye Jingzhu nodded while eating.
Jiang Shuwei looked at her mother's rough hands with heartache, sighed and looked away.
"Mom, I brought some candies and snacks. Can you take care of them?"
Ye Jingzhu looked at what her daughter opened the package and took out, and nodded with a look of satisfaction.
"Take them all out. I'll distribute them to everyone later and apply for a room for you two."
Jiang Shuwei noticed that there was a separate stove and clay pot in the room, and asked curiously:
"Mom, don't you guys eat in the cafeteria?"
Ye Jingzhu shook his head: "Eat. We in the logistics department cook big pot meals. The stove in the house is for heating and boiling water, and sometimes we can add snacks."
After eating the last bite of milk fruit in his hand, Ye Jingzhu stood up, picked up two bags of fruit candies and walked out.
"Come on, Weiwei. I'll show you around the campsite and help you find a place to stay."
Jiang Shuwei first handed the team leader the list of daily necessities and banknotes that needed to be purchased.
Ye Jingzhu then grabbed a handful of fruit candies and stuffed them into his pocket.
"Thank you, auntie." Several people thanked her with a smile and left.
After they left, Jiang Shuwei raised her eyebrows and looked at her mother.
"Know him?"
Ye Jingzhu nodded, "Yeah! He's a pretty good guy, not bad at all."
Jiang Shuwei smiled and didn't ask any further questions.
