Chapter 065: Snake on Desert Island (4)

Chapter 065: Snake on Desert Island (4)

Tao Xing had recovered by then. He had planned to go out to look for it after taking a shower, but he didn't want to meet it here. He cleared his throat and whispered, "Are you... okay?"

The snake did not respond, and there was even some sadness in its big eyes. It dived into the water again, and swam away with its head down.

"I didn't mean to chase you away." Tao Xing walked along the water's edge. "I just couldn't... Hey, are you listening?"

There was no movement in the water, only a string of water splashes. Tao Xing looked out and saw that the snake had already swam away.

He quickly walked forward, but could no longer see where the snake was, so he raised his voice and asked, "I really didn't mean to do that. Are you feeling unwell?"

No response.

Tao Xing had no choice but to walk forward and look for him: "Can you come out?"

We searched all the way into the jungle, but still there was no movement.

He sighed and turned around.

The snake quietly poked its head out from the dense and hidden leaves, looked at the departing figure, and slowly crawled in another direction.

The snake's first courtship attempt in its life ended in failure.

The snake had no hope in life and crawled around aimlessly.

Tao Xing went back to take a shower, change clothes, take a knife, flashlight and lighter, and go into the jungle again.

080 heaved a sigh of relief when he saw this: "I thought you, the host, were not going to look for it anymore."

"Of course I have to look for it, but I still have to take some precautions when entering the forest." He stepped on the soft fallen leaves and occasionally saw crawling marks on the ground and trees, but they were intermittent and he was not sure whether they were left today. However, it was better to have them than nothing. He followed the marks all the way to the end of the jungle, and in front of him was the small hill again.

Based on the experience of the past two days, those monsters basically moved around on the other side of the hill. Before knowing it, Tao Xing had planned not to provoke them. However, there was a clear and obvious trace of a crawling mark on the hill.

He went up and over the hill.

There were traces of animals walking and crawling everywhere, and there was still blood left over from yesterday. He couldn't track the snake's whereabouts for the time being, so he had to move forward.

There was also a jungle ahead. No monsters were seen today. The forest was not as dense as over there, and there were many piles of rocks. He walked and searched for most of the day. He took a step forward and heard a "click". Something hard hit his foot. He looked down and saw a rusty piece of iron.

How could there be iron on a wild island?

While he was thinking, a dark shadow suddenly flashed in front of him.

He immediately ran after it and came to a pile of rocks with more iron pieces on the ground. The monster stopped and looked back.

Black fur, human face, it turns out to be a human-faced monster.

Just now I was in a trance and thought it was a person.

Forget it, if it doesn't attack me, there's no need to chase it. Tao Xing took a breath and looked at the rugged rocks here, but there was no grass or trees at all. There were some strange fungal creatures in the middle of the rocks, pink umbrella-shaped, like jellyfish.

Amidst the dense cluster of mushrooms, there is a square iron frame covered in rust. When you kick it, it makes a clanging sound.

This was done by a human. Tao Xing's heart skipped a beat. This meant that there were other people on the island.

For some reason, the images of those monsters with human hands and feet flashed through his mind.

I felt it was very strange at the time, and now that I realize someone might have been to the island, I feel even stranger.

He used a knife to pick up the iron frame and was surprised to see a secret door. It was made of iron, but the surface was painted the same color as the ground. If you didn't look carefully, you couldn't find it at all.

He tried knocking on the door.

No response.

Try pushing it again.

With a "crash", the door lock fell off.

Tao Xing: “Uh…”

There were stairs below, and the door lock was rolling down the stairs with a clanging sound.

The underground cave entrance and stairs were a very familiar scene. Tao Xing shone a flashlight downwards and felt that the underground space was very large.

"Is anyone there?" he shouted towards the door.

Still no response.

It was afternoon, and although the weather was gloomy, it was still daytime. Tao Xing rubbed his hands and walked in.

When you walk to the end, all you see is marble floors, white porcelain wall tiles, incandescent lights on overhead, and glass doors… This was renovated by humans.

It's a bit old, with orange-red scale on the tiled walls and the floor looks like it's stained with old oil, but overall the dust is not thick.

"Is anyone there?" Tao Xing shouted again.

In the empty basement, there was only his echo.

He walked forward. Although there was no one around, everything was bright, as if someone had forgotten to turn off the lights when they left.

A damp air hit me in the face, mixed with the pungent smell of various medicines. There were many rooms on both sides, all separated by glass. Inside, I could see single beds with blue sheets and various lighting equipment.

The layout was very much like a hospital operating room. The beds in the two rooms on the left and right at the end were stained with blood and instruments were scattered around.

Turning the corner, there is another row of rooms. On one side there are bunk beds and wardrobes, which seem to be accommodation. On the other side there are computers and test tube equipment.

At this point Tao Xing already understood that this was a laboratory.

A laboratory built underground on a deserted island must not be very upright.

He pushed the office door, and just as he touched it, a machine voice suddenly sounded: "Hello, please verify your identity."

This door is automatically locked and unlocking requires fingerprint or pupil verification.

He placed his finger on it, a green light flashed, and the voice said, "No information has been entered."

When I put my eyes on it again, it still showed that the information had not been entered.

“…”

It doesn’t matter if the information is not entered. It’s not difficult to open the lock. Tao Xing inserted the knife into the crack of the door again and again, and the door opened.

He walked in and his feet were inadvertently stained with sticky matter. He lowered his head to look and was shocked again.

It was a pool of blood, which had turned black but had not yet completely dried.

A tag fell in it. He had seen this kind of tag before. The original owner also had it on him. It was a work badge.

Pick it up and take a look. It’s from Lintian Biological Research Institute, researcher, Li Heng.

They are in the same unit as the original owner, but from this it seems that the original owner came to the island and was going here.

The original owner was in poor health and rolled down the hill and fell into the water and died just after arriving. Logically, he did not report as scheduled, but no one came out to look for him.

The people here have disappeared for some time.

Could this blood be from the researcher named Li Heng? Is he dead?

Stepping over the bloodstain, Tao Xing swept the table and picked up two more work IDs, both from Lintian Research Institute.

The tea leaves in the cup on the table had gone moldy. There was a computer with a light on, but it was not turned off. It was as if these people didn't know they were leaving and left suddenly without any preparation, or maybe...

He looked back at the bloodstains. Perhaps they were already dead and eaten by something, leaving no trace of their bodies. Anyway, there were carnivores on the island.

He tried to click on the keyboard, and the computer screen lit up. There were two clicks, and a person's head flashed by, followed by a blue background with the words "Please enter password" written on it.

The password had advanced protection. Tao Xing clicked on it again and again but couldn't figure it out. He then tried to enter the spelling of the names on the work permits and the ID numbers, but that was still wrong.

Having no hope at all, he gave up unlocking the doors and tried opening the desks and drawers, but he didn't find anything except some papers and pens. The papers were all blank. Nowadays, most offices are paperless, so it is difficult to find paper versions of documents.

No means of communication were found, not even a mobile phone.

After a circle, he decided to go back first. He still had to find the snake. Moreover, he had an idea in his mind that he had to go out and take a look to verify.

The accommodation area had daily necessities and bedding, but after taking a few glances at them and thinking of the scenes that might have happened in this laboratory, he felt uncomfortable. He didn't need them anyway, so he didn't want them.

I walked up the stairs and returned to the ground. I looked around and found that the human-faced monster was no longer there.

After climbing a few more hills, we finally found traces of snakes crawling on the ground again.

The traces this time were a bit messy. He frowned and chased forward quickly. When he reached a forest, he heard some movement. He looked up and suddenly saw the golden snake flying towards him, facing him. He also heard roaring sounds and several monsters running wildly. They were probably chasing the snake.

Tao Xing made a prompt decision to catch the snake. Due to inertia, the snake turned around and held its head in his arms. He looked up at those monsters, including those with human limbs.

It was just in time. Tao Xing hugged the snake tightly, stepped forward and kicked the leading monster over. He picked up a stone and pressed down its foot. The monster screamed miserably but could not break free.

The other two paused for a moment, knowing that this man was not to be trifled with. They dared not move forward, hunched their bodies, growled a few times, and retreated back into the woods.

Now that things were quiet, Tao Xing lowered her eyebrows and looked at the snake in her arms: "Are you... okay?"

The snake raised its head and blinked, looking somewhat confused.

Tao Xing took a quick look and saw that it was fine and not injured. He then said, "I came to find you. Uh... it's dangerous here. You should go to the other side of the hill."

The snake heard the gentle tone and its confused look gradually turned into joy.

"But, don't control my consciousness anymore and don't do that to me again, okay?"

The snake's horns moved slightly and its eyes flickered.

People want to make peace with it, right?

Once people figure it out, are they still willing to be its partner?

The snake's feeling of loss and grievance disappeared completely, and he nodded repeatedly, saying, "Okay, okay."

"You agreed?" Tao Xing said with a smile, letting it go. "Okay, wait for me for a while, and we'll go back together."

The snake was freed from his arms and breathed a sigh of relief. To be honest, it was more than ten meters long and could only be held halfway by a man, with its tail entirely on the ground. In order to be at the same level as the man's eyes, it had to support its upper body with its tail, which was quite tiring.

Tao Xing calmed the snake down, picked up the unconscious monster, and walked to the entrance of the laboratory. He turned around and said, "Let's go downstairs and come out soon."

The snake slowed down and couldn't keep up with him.

"Are you afraid of this place?" Tao Xing asked.

The snake didn't understand, but refused to move forward.

"Okay, wait for me for a moment." Tao Xing carried the monster downstairs. It was a red fox with human hands. He walked to the door of the office and first used the fox's eyes to shine on the combination lock.

"No information entered." The machine voice sounded emotionlessly.

He picked up the human-like hand again and pressed on the fingerprint.

"Authentication successful, Wang Qiang, welcome."

Although he had some guesses, Tao Xing was still startled when he heard the sound, and his hands shook so much that he almost dropped the fox.

If I'm not mistaken, this lab is synthesizing animal and human organs together?

This fox is, and so are that bear and rabbit. So are those human-faced monsters.

The computer cannot be opened and the data inside cannot be destroyed easily. The mobile phone is lost, so it is impossible to contact the outside world or query information. The only thing that can be confirmed is that this laboratory has been interrupted because of an accident involving personnel, but the bloodstains have not dried yet, so the interruption time is not long.

Is it possible that there will be more people coming later?

Tao Xing walked upstairs carrying the fox. Well, let's just sit back and wait.

When he got to the ground, he plucked a handful of fur from the fox and threw it away. Then he looked at the snake that was waiting eagerly and suddenly thought, is this snake synthetic?

He was nervous, but calmed himself down, picked up the snake's face, rubbed his palms on it, and looked closely.

The small red horns are not those of a human being. The scarlet vertical pupils are not the eyes of a human being. The hissing mouth is not a human mouth. There are no hands or feet, and the body is smooth and long.

He even peeled back a few scales to make sure there was snake skin underneath.

Those synthetic monsters all have human organs, but this snake has none at all.

It won’t be synthetic.

Tao Xing was just about to relax, but suddenly, his expression changed again.

He remembered that he had seen a naked person in his dream. If he had explained it as a dream before, now he couldn't help but think about it.

080 sensed the host's unstable emotions and said quickly: "I have the simplest method of judgment. Host, you have already unlocked the identity information of the task target. The program says that it is a golden dragon python. There is no remark information. This means that it is not a synthetic one. It is a complete, real snake."

Tao Xing's heart suddenly dropped: "But, what's going on with that person?"

"The rare golden dragon python is very spiritual. The very spiritual ones can change their own form according to the form of the mating partner. If you are sure you have seen someone, it should be that it has changed its form, but..."

"But what?"

"To change the form, there must be a template. I don't know what template it follows."

"I understand." Tao Xing took a breath. Does this mean that the one who actually slept with him last night was actually the human form of a snake?

But no matter whether he is a human or a snake, he cannot allow his thoughts to be controlled.

His thoughts returned to him, and he looked up to see that he was still clinging to the scales on the snake's tail, so he quickly let go.

The snake's eyes had already widened.

My partner touched it all over and even peeled off the scales?

Is this a courtship signal to it?

If there are stars in the snake's eyes and it crawls on the ground next to people, that's good, the snake's mating period can last for several days.

Tao Xing was still feeling uncertain. It was very likely that someone else would come to the laboratory. However, snakes could not eat humans. Once they did, they would evolve towards a cruel direction and eventually even exterminate humans. Then his mission would be considered a failure.

It is not clear whether these people are doing that kind of experiment. Even if they are, there are many ways to punish them. The only way that cannot be done is to be eaten by a snake.

With nutrient solution, the snakes will not eat humans within three months, but the research institute may not send people within three months.

According to Tao Xing’s previous plan, the snake couldn’t leave the island anyway, so as long as he could keep his life, he could guide it slowly. But at the moment, this guidance had to be put on the agenda.

Tao Xing had some experience in making the target not eat people. He turned around to pull the target, but when he reached out his hand, he remembered that the target had no hands, so he touched the other end instead: "You can't eat people."

The snake tilted its head, and the man was sending out a mating signal again.

It nodded its head like a gong and drum. Okay, okay, I just agreed.

"You agreed immediately." Tao Xing was delighted when he saw it nod.

The snake blinked its starry eyes and crawled slowly beside him, back up the hill, through the jungle, and then turned away in another direction.

"Where are you going?" Tao Xing asked.

The snake turned its head and stuck out its tongue, saying it was going to take a bath.

Although the snake didn't speak, Tao Xing somehow understood its expression.

It means, it's coming right back.

"Okay," he said.
