Chapter 9 The Incident: "You didn't faint?!?" ...
"You didn't faint?!"
Murphy's sudden voice startled the two female insects in the dilapidated house.
According to their plan, the male insect would be unconscious for two hours after the drug took effect. As long as they collected the pheromones in time and sent him back, he would only think that he had suddenly fallen asleep and would not notice anything amiss.
The female insect inside the room was shorter and younger. At this moment, she looked at her brother with a look of panic. Of course, she knew what kind of crime it was to offend a male insect, after all, that was how her female father had died.
He said in a trembling voice, "Yes, it was my idea. Tell the insects to take me away, but don't hurt my brother."
"Star" remained silent for a long time, wondering if he should go all the way. But this was the Central Star, a veritable net of heaven and earth. If any male insects encountered trouble in the outer areas, they would not be able to escape.
He was just a low-level female insect, but Bruce still had hope. His rank was B, and he might be able to reach rank A in the future. That way, he could join the Legion and fight for a future, living a better life than him and their brothers.
"Star" shielded her younger brother behind her, saying, "Bruce, I'll take responsibility for what I did."
"Star" looked at Murphy and said firmly, "Your Excellency, I am very sorry."
"I beg you, just take me away."
The female insect brother choked out, "Please... don't take my brother away..."
The atmosphere at the scene suddenly turned tragic, and Murphy seemed to transform into a terrifying, malevolent insect.
well.
Murphy sighed, looking somewhat helpless. "I'm just a sub-female who does things for the male insect. As long as I get the insect puppet back safely, he won't know what happened here."
He didn't reveal that he was the male insect, otherwise, given the personalities of the two brothers, he would probably be living in constant fear after returning home.
"ah?"
The two brothers were indeed brothers; even their expressions of surprise were identical. Bruce, the younger brother, still had tears welling up in his eyes, while Bruce's eyes were still filled with pain.
"You're not a male?"
Murphy shrugged. "After all, it's not so easy for male insects in the inner zone to come out."
"Star" looked stunned, and the feeling of being pulled up from hell made him feel like he had been reborn.
But in that case, the eldest brother... Although their plan itself failed, this may be the fate of the lowest-ranking female insects.
The younger brother had obviously thought of the same question, and his surprised expression fell.
Murphy understood; it seemed they had a reason to capture the male insect, and he also had another question: "How did you get that rare insect puppet?"
Given their current economic situation, they shouldn't be collecting such flashy but impractical items, and there's even less chance they'd have insects around them, so the source of these items is highly questionable.
"Star" paused for a moment before answering, "The rare insect puppets were also produced in a factory. My older brother and I worked in that factory back then, and I made the molds. Unfortunately, after my brother's mental domain became unstable, the factory kicked us both out and didn't pay us our wages. I was so angry that I stole one to pay my wages."
The female insect brother appeared to be in great pain. "We didn't intend to do anything to that gentleman. We just wanted to take some pheromones and send him back. My brother can't hold on much longer. I'm sorry."
He stepped aside and pulled back a tattered curtain so worn that its original color was unrecognizable. Behind it was an old bed, on which lay an adult female insect, her expression pained, her lips purple, and veins bulging on her face as if she were enduring something. Her hands were tightly bound, with deep marks on her wrists.
Male insect pheromones are always in high demand but short supply, and are only supplied to high-ranking female insects first. The rest are then sold at exorbitant prices, which are simply unaffordable for them given their circumstances.
The 50,000 star coins obtained from selling the only insect puppet were merely a drop in the bucket.
Murphy was speechless for a moment.
It's strange that the underlying logic of this world favors male insects so much because of pheromones.
He had previously heard that using pheromones to soothe female insects could have a certain effect, causing them to unconsciously depend on and obey male insects.
Murphy sighed again; he had sighed quite a lot today.
"I have what you want. What can you offer in exchange?"
He also had a vial of Rodney's pheromones, which he originally intended to use for experiments.
As if suddenly seeing a glimmer of hope, the female insect brothers abruptly raised their heads, "Really?"
“We…” they looked at each other, then said firmly, “We can give you all the 50,000 star coins we just traded, plus some things we found in the trading market. If that’s not enough, we’ll gather some more.”
The young female insect stared longingly at the pheromone tube in Murphy's hand.
"Okay, let me see."
Murphy nodded, thinking he could just grab anything to settle the deal.
The female insect brothers dragged a large bag out from under the bed and dumped out a bunch of things with a clatter: old mechanical insects, parts whose original shape was unrecognizable, small stones of various colors, and so on.
It looks like a treasure they've been collecting for a long time.
Murphy picked them up one by one to examine them. The predecessor of the robot bug seemed to be a cleaning robot bug, but at this time, its hands and legs were broken off. The parts that could not be seen in their original form seemed to have been fused together by something, and the material was very light.
Every time Murphy put his down, he could feel the tension between the two brothers, as if they were afraid he wouldn't like anything.
Murphy didn’t really need anything, so he picked up a small stone and thought, “This will do.”
But as soon as he got his hands on it, he felt something trigger his mental energy.
He became interested.
Murphy held the small stone up to the light source, pretending to check its quality, but in reality, he subtly probed the inside of the stone with a thin thread of his mental energy.
The chaotic energy was packed together, and it took several strands of mental energy to barely get through.
The results of the investigation excited him; the small stone actually contained active energy that not only complemented and was compatible with his mental energy, but also had a scent similar to active pheromones.
Unfortunately, it has too many impurities. If you want to use it, you have to use your mental power to remove the impurities, which is a huge undertaking.
Murphy held up the stone and asked, "What is this?"
"Star" replied, "It's the core of a celestial beast, not of a high level."
Murphy seemed to be deep in thought. The core of the alien beast actually contained energy similar to pheromones. The underlying logic of this world was truly amazing.
"Let's use this to make the exchange."
Seeing that he had finally made his choice, the two brothers couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, and their expressions visibly relaxed.
Bruce, the younger brother, took out a cloth bag and collected all the colorful stones on the ground. "If you like, you can have this whole bag. These things aren't worth much; every year after the battle, a huge amount of them are lost."
"Thank you." Mofiel took the bag of beast cores without hesitation, then handed them the pheromone tube in his hand, nodded, and turned to leave.
"Star" paused for a moment, "Wait, how do I transfer 50,000 Star Coins to you?"
As Murphy walked out, he turned his back to them and raised his hand to shake the bag in his hand. "No need, this bag of beast cores is enough."
The female insect brothers held the pheromone tubes in their hands, unable to believe that they had obtained what they had dreamed of so easily.
...
Inner area.
The once quiet hospital corridor was shattered by bursts of noise. Insects peeked out from a few wards nearby, but quickly retreated when they saw that they were male.
"This is the ward of that bitch Atia, right? She's got some skills, managing to bring down that money-grubbing good-for-nothing Morpheus."
"Open the door." The red-haired male insect raised his hand to direct the bodyguards on both sides.
The bodyguard was about to open the door when he was stopped by the doctor who rushed over. "Sir, you cannot go in now."
"Get out of the way," the red-haired male insect said impatiently.
The hospitals in the lower-level areas are rubbish; they don't even have a doctor who can read the room.
"Sir, the treatment inside is in progress, and it's a critical stage. We really can't go in. Please understand." The doctor looked very embarrassed, hunching over and smiling apologetically, but he didn't budge an inch.
"Treatment? He's just a lowly female slave. I can take him away whenever I want. Get out of here!"
The red-haired male insect crossed his arms, his sharp, upturned eyes filled with disdain, and he even sneered upon hearing this.
The doctor felt a little bitter inside. It wasn't that he wanted to antagonize this male insect, but the problem was that the male insect that brought the female insect to the hospital took him very seriously, which was evident from his every move.
If it gets taken away by other male insects while he's away, they'll definitely cause trouble for their hospital.
Of course, his willingness to help was also partly due to the fact that the black-haired male insect was usually very polite.
But he couldn't stop him for long; he could only hope that the male insect would arrive in time before the diseased insect was taken away.
"My patience is limited. You, chase him away. You, open the door and catch the bug." The red-haired male bug waved his hand, instructing his two bodyguards to do the work.
"What should we do? Should we go and stop them?"
At the corner of the corridor, Rupert looked on anxiously. The Legion Commander had finally stabilized after a few days of rest, and they didn't dare to think about the consequences if he were taken away.
"Stop them? And then what? We are female insects. If we are accused of disrespecting male insects, it will not only fail to save the legion commander insect, but will also drag us down with us."
Palmer was calmer than him. "We've seen it these past few days too. That male insect is treating the Legion Commander insect well. Whatever his purpose is, at least he's willing to do it on the surface. So we can use that to our advantage. We can send him anonymous text messages and see if he comes."
"Okay, I'll send it right away."
However, in just a few words, the situation in front of the ward took a dramatic turn.
Things were going very smoothly. The doctor in front of the ward was forced to leave, and the other bodyguards had no obstacles. The insect was also weak, so taking it away should have been no problem at all.
Unfortunately, not everything follows the rules; anything can become an unstable factor, such as Murphy.
