Chapter 42 The Strange Doctor at the Black Clinic "Wow, Your Excellency Murphy..."
"Wow, Lord Murphy has come to deliver the Legion Commander's worm."
"Lord Murphy is truly the gentlest male insect I've ever met. The way he looks at the Legion Commander insect is always smiling."
"Yeah yeah."
"Sigh, I was about to change my opinion of male insects because of Lord Murphy, but my friend's brother was beaten by a male insect again yesterday and was hospitalized. I feel so bad."
"ah……"
...
"Are you sure everything is okay?"
Murphy looked at Attia with some concern.
My beautiful wife wasn't shy at all when she took the initiative yesterday, but today she kept her eyes down and wouldn't look at me. Her legs were so weak that she wouldn't let me help her.
Murphy had no choice but to bring breakfast to the room, otherwise he would have been starving by the time Attia moved down the stairs.
However, judging from this point of view, the female insect's recovery ability is really strong. Just after eating breakfast, Atia was able to walk normally again, although upon closer inspection, there were still some signs of soreness and weakness.
Atia silently shook his head. Even just thinking about last night sent shivers down his spine; the feeling of his mind going blank and his body being filled to the point of being out of control still lingered in his mind. Was it really normal for a male insect to have such strong stamina…?
"Okay, time was too tight, I didn't have time to prepare anything for you, so you must keep these."
The hovercar behind Murphy was crammed full of all sorts of things, all of which Atia had gotten used to using from his old home to his new one. Of course, there were also some of his personal favorites mixed in, such as various ornaments with his chibi-style cotton head, mainly intended to infiltrate his wife's life.
Murphy said reluctantly, "Take care of yourself, and remember to think of me. I'll come find you soon."
"Um."
Murphy rambled on and on, seemingly with endless things to say, but he and Attia had never been apart for this long since they got together. If it weren't for his own situation, he would have gone with them no matter what.
Atiyah listened quietly, nodding occasionally.
Murphy's voice grew softer and softer until it stopped completely. He looked at Atiya and found that Atiya had been looking at him the whole time, his image reflected in her beautiful purple eyes.
The team was fully prepared, and the starship sounded the call to arms.
Atiyah didn't speak, but stepped forward, wrapped his arms around Murphy's waist, and buried his head in his chest.
His shallow breaths brushed against her neck, and Atia's body was still covered with his scent, the two mingling together, inseparable.
Murphy's eyes crinkled slightly as he reached out and deepened the embrace.
Perhaps he should think of a way to resolve that problem.
...
In the Imperial Council Hall, the civil and military officials were arguing fiercely, while their Emperor had already made an excuse to slip away.
The poor scribes, however, could not leave. They wrote furiously, each one filled with bitterness and resentment, lamenting why their superiors had to say so much.
The attendants standing behind them whispered amongst themselves, not discussing the powerful ministers, but rather the Crown Prince sitting not far away.
"Your Highness is here to audit classes again?"
"Your Highness is so intelligent and hardworking, you will surely become a king as powerful as His Majesty in the future."
"Your Highness will soon be undergoing a transformation. I wonder what kind of amazing power you will possess after becoming an S-rank."
"His Majesty was already detected to have an S-level pheromone concentration during his metamorphosis, and his physical strength was comparable to that of a female insect. That's amazing! Your Highness will definitely become even more amazing."
Meanwhile, Loxis, whom they were talking about, sat upright, taking notes diligently. No matter how heated the debate in the hall was, he remained unmoved, though the pressure he applied to his writing seemed a little too heavy, causing the ink to smudge exceptionally deeply.
Where no one could see, the color in Loxsis's eyes was as deep and dark as ink.
...S-class, huh.
...
"The pirate crew! The pirate crew is here!"
The shop assistant, panting heavily, pushed open the shop door and reported to the shop manager in a panic.
"What? Which one? Is it the Crimson Planet Pirates?"
The shop manager, who was leisurely drinking tea, almost fell off his chair when he heard the news. He quickly began to pack his things and prepare to run away.
The shop assistant tried to recall, "I didn't see it very clearly, but I vaguely saw what looked like two white daggers on the side of the starship?"
"...It's pure white, thank goodness." Upon hearing this, the shop manager immediately breathed a sigh of relief and sat back down in his rocking chair. He scolded the employee, "Next time, make sure you look carefully before reporting. You almost scared my heart out."
The Pure White Pirates have always been accommodating to insects, as long as they are paid for and not killed. Unlike the Crimson Pirates, who not only indiscriminately kill insects but also enjoy torturing them.
Recently, the Crimson Pirates have been expanding rapidly, scaring these small, peripheral planets into a state of extreme fear. Not only do they dare not venture out, but they have also prepared a small escape boat for their insects, fearing that they might accidentally bump into the Crimson Pirates and be unable to escape.
At this time, even though it wasn't evening yet, the tavern on the back street was already crowded with drunkards who loved to boast and brag. They drank in a rather unrestrained manner and boasted loudly, often causing complaints from the neighboring shops.
"jingle--"
The tavern door was pushed open, and the owner, who was sitting at the bar with hazy eyes, looked up.
"Doris?"
"Oh, what a rare guest! It's been so long since I've seen you."
"You seem to be in good spirits lately. Did you get lucky and find a male insect to 'mooch' off to?"
Lai Chong's connections with other insects were clearly excellent; most of the insects in the tavern spoke to him with familiarity.
"Hey, everyone looks pretty good."
Doris greeted everyone in a nonchalant manner.
Although the boss was drunk and his eyes were blurry, he still muttered irritably, "You haven't come for so long, I thought you were dead and was planning to burn some paper money for you."
Doris walked over to the boss with a grin, put a hand on the boss's shoulder, and said in a familiar tone, "Old Hansen, I knew you were the best to me. Although there was a little accident in the middle, who am I? My luck has always been good. I'm back to full health again."
Old Hansen shrugged his shoulders, shaking Doris's hand away. "Get lost, you're not a male insect, don't get so close to me."
Doris said, "Tsk tsk tsk, old Hansen, how old are you, still thinking about male insects?"
Old Hansen's face darkened. "Don't force me to beat you up." Although he had never seen a male insect in his life, he still had fantasies.
After a while of commotion, Doris snatched the drink from Old Hansen's hand and took a big gulp. "Ha, your drink is definitely stronger."
"By the way, old Hansen, when did another shop open across from your tavern? I've been looking at it for ages and I still don't know what it does."
Old Hansen said, "It's a shady clinic run by a doctor from who-knows-where. He's only been here a short time, and no one has tried going in yet. That doctor is really strange; I don't think I've ever seen him leave the house."
Doris let out a hearty burp. "Oh? Interesting. I'll go take a look."
"Clang, clang, clang—"
"Clang, clang, clang—"
"Open the door, open the door, hurry up!"
Fueled by alcohol, Doris went straight to the next door and knocked on the door. He was quite strong, and his knocking was louder, but no one came to open the door.
Ha! They're quite capable, aren't they? They don't even put the Pure White Pirates in their eyes.
He was about to force the door open when he discovered it wasn't locked at all. Upon opening the door, he found himself in a pitch-black corridor, with a pale light shining through at the end.
Doris strode in, his tongue slurred from drinking too much. "Hey, newbie, don't you know today's the Pure White Pirates' day to collect protection money?"
It was still very quiet inside, as if there were no insects.
Doris muttered as she walked to the end, and when she saw the scene inside, she was sobered up considerably from the shock.
At the end of the dark corridor was a large, slightly dimly lit room. Each wall was covered with rows of alloy shelves, each filled with transparent display jars filled with liquid. The jars contained all sorts of distinct insect fragments, including internal organs, brains, claws, and wings.
In the very center of the room, there was an operating table that didn't look very professional. The lights on the operating table were very bright, and several lights together created the effect of a shadowless lamp.
Beside the operating table stood a tall, black-haired monster with a strange excitement in its eyes and an eerie smile on its lips.
The black-haired monster was holding a sharp-looking knife in one hand and a test tube containing a strange green reagent in the other. Its white lab coat was stained with various blood-red stains...
Doris's face turned pale instantly.
It was as if he had accidentally stumbled into a strange doctor's pest control operation, and he seemed to be the "pest."
This feeling became even more pronounced when the eyes of that black-haired monster looked at you.
...
Why hasn't Doris returned yet?
Talos watched as the crew members returned one by one, but Doris did not return.
The crew member who went out with Doris thought for a moment and said, "I don't know either, but the second mate said he was going to check out the back street. Maybe he went to drink with Old Hansen again?"
"Tsk." The green-eyed female insect Talos had obviously thought of this as well.
That silly Doris is such a troublemaker! She knows it's not safe right now, yet she still runs around everywhere.
Talos casually tossed what he was holding to a nearby crew member and ordered, "You stay on board with the bug and keep watch. I'm going to check it out."
The sharp blade of the scalpel pressed against Doris's neck, the cold blade making Doris's hair stand on end, as if the slightest movement would cost him his life.
He had just walked in, and before he could even say anything, he felt his body freeze in place as if it were out of his control. His brain was telling him to run, but his legs wouldn't budge.
He could only watch helplessly as the black-haired monster approached, getting closer and closer, until it placed the scalpel that had been cutting something just moments before against his neck.
"You just said you were a space pirate group?"
The black-haired worm tilted its head, its smile eerie, and its expression excited. "Do you have a boat?"
Doris nodded stiffly. He had intended to put up a fight, but the knife on his neck pressed down a little deeper, and blood oozed out. It looked quite sharp, which made him immediately subdue.
The black-haired monster's smile widened, and he nodded in satisfaction. "Ah, that's great, now it's mine."
The black-haired monster sheathed its knife and gave the order in a very natural and casual manner, "Help me carry these things onto the ship."
Doris stared in disbelief. "Huh? No, did I agree? Why are you acting so matter-of-factly?"
However, it's a good opportunity.
Of course, Doris wouldn't do as he instructed. Instead, the moment he sheathed his sword, she immediately turned and ran away.
But the moment he made his starting motion, his body mysteriously stopped.
Bug droppings! Did he see a ghost today?
"Doris? Doris?"
Just then, a familiar voice came from the other end of the street. Doris hadn't closed the door when she came in, so the voice was particularly clear.
Oh no, it's Talos. He's come looking for him.
No, we have to get Talos out of here. This insect's power is quite bizarre; Talos is definitely no match for it.
Doris swallowed hard, then quietly lowered her barely movable fingers...
"You want to send a message?"
Doris's hand had barely touched the small communicator, and before he had even officially transmitted a message, a faint voice sounded in his ear.
"This is it, right?"
The black-haired worm rummaged through his body and found a tiny thing about the size of a thumb.
"No……"
Doris watched helplessly as the black-haired worm sent a "Come quickly" message via communicator.
Meanwhile, Talos's voice grew closer.
"Doris?"
