Chapter 43

Chapter 43

Yoda asked in surprise, "How should I know? You never tell me when I ask." Usually, she would bring it up occasionally, but Xie Yiyi would always keep quiet and let it slide.

As if about to announce some major news, Xie Yiyi stood up: "Actually, he designs cemeteries." She then looked at Yoda, who looked puzzled: "So, what's the connection?"

Seeing that Yoda wasn't getting it, Xie Yiyi simply sat back down and said slowly, "When were we renovating? You were unconscious, and Shi Xing looked completely numb. I'm newly married and waiting to move in after the renovation. Asking him to design things at this time is just irritating."

At this point, Xie Yiyi took a sip of water and continued, "Moreover, Li Mi is designing the cemetery, so everyone must have had a lot of contact with him during the renovation. If Shi Xing finds out and makes the connection, wouldn't that be like rubbing salt into his wounds?"

Therefore, Xie Yiyi didn't mention it to Shi Xing at all when she was decorating; she just quietly found someone to do it and that was it.

I thought it was something serious, but it turned out to be just for this reason. Yoda didn't care at all and also advised Xie Yiyi not to worry: "What's the big deal? Everyone dies eventually. Having a friend in this industry can help you secure a good position in the future."

"Oh, really? It's great that you think that way," Xie Yiyi said, but in her mind she recalled the scene from that time.

At that time, Yoda was in a coma. Although Xie Yiyi was going through the motions of dating and getting married, she felt so distressed whenever she thought of Yoda that she couldn't even muster the energy to prepare for the wedding.

Seeing Xie Yiyi so heartbroken, Li Mi made up his mind and immediately promised her that, for the sake of Xie Yiyi and Yoda's friendship, he would shamelessly go to the management of the cemetery he had designed and make sure to reserve the best spot for Yoda in the cemetery.

Xie Yiyi was furious and couldn't speak for a long time, pointing at the other person. Li Mi thought he had moved Xie Yiyi deeply and continued to explain. He had designed the cemetery in the best location in the entire city, with convenient transportation, making it easy to visit the grave in the future. He even patted his chest and guaranteed that he would arrange the best burial package for her.

After recovering from her shock, Xie Yiyi scolded Li Mi for days without feeling any relief. If Li Mi hadn't kept promising and swearing that he truly meant well and had no ill intentions whatsoever, the two of them would have broken up long ago.

Thinking of this, Xie Yiyi smiled and remained silent, seeing Yoda's expression that said, "Believe in science, don't be superstitious." She secretly thought to herself: If you knew he was planning to put you in a sandalwood box, I wonder if you'd still be so calm.

Yoda, completely unaware of the situation, continued to persuade him: "So we don't need to have these inexplicable taboos at all. It's a very tolerant society now, and you need to update your thinking."

Xie Yiyi chuckled and nodded perfunctorily, but what she was thinking was: I should have prepared this for you back then, since you'll need it eventually anyway. It saves me the trouble of the price going up now.

Before she could still control her thoughts, Xie Yiyi quickly said seriously, "I came here to comfort you, but you're so talkative and energetic. I've achieved my goal, so I'll be going now. Bye-bye."

Even after Xie Yiyi left, Yoda was still in a daze. Xie Yiyi came to comfort her? It seemed like she'd been sitting casually at her desk the whole time. Yoda had been running around feeding and giving her things, not only emptying her little snack stash but also taking two potted plants from the desk. Liu Si had specifically placed them there, saying that Yoda's eyes were hurting from drawing all day and she should look at the plants more often.

Looking at her empty drink, emptied snacks, and the bare table after the potted plant was removed, Yoda cried out, "Wait, who was she comforting? Who comforted me?"

Shi Xing, who was next door, heard Yoda's strong voice. Although he couldn't hear what was said through the door, he remembered that he had asked Xie Yiyi to comfort Yoda. As a longtime friend, this had cheered Yoda up.

Feeling very satisfied with the thoughtful arrangement, he lowered his head and worked even harder at drawing.

Yoda firmly believed that as long as he persisted in doing his job well, he would definitely achieve his goal. And sure enough, although his first battle ended in failure, his second was still very successful.

Yoda stared at the girl in front of him, still somewhat incredulous. He had merely approached her after she entered the agency to introduce herself, and she had immediately decided to sign the contract—all within ten minutes.

"Are you really sure you want to sign the contract now? Don't you really need me to come to your house to measure the space and confirm the preliminary plan?" Originally, after learning from the last lesson, Yoda thought that in the future, she would always sign the contract first and then provide the specific plan. But looking at the well-behaved and quiet girl in front of her, Yoda thought, "She must trust me a lot."

The more he thought about it, the more moved he became. What lessons could there be compared to this genuine trust? Yuda was so touched that he blurted out, "We can sign the contract after the plan is finalized."

Mo Ke stared at the contract on the table, motionless. Feeling Yoda's intense gaze, she became somewhat uncomfortable. She shrank back slightly, shook her head, and said, "No need. Everything you said is excellent. Can we sign it now?"

"Sure, sure." Although it was a bit strange, Yoda had no choice but to accept since the other party had already made the decision. Even after the other party paid the deposit, Yoda couldn't believe he had just landed an order.

Is this for real? This is going too smoothly.

Yoda was overjoyed and repeatedly assured him that she would design it well. After seeing Mo Ke off, she turned around and ran to Shi Xing's office: "This order wasn't arranged by you either, was it?"

Shi Xing looked up, feeling a bit uncomfortable from staring at the computer for so long. He rubbed his eyes, which were a little red, and looked at Yoda with a puzzled expression: "What?"

Yoda's suspicious gaze swept over the other person's innocent expression: "Last time Xie Yiyi came, I knew it was you who told her to come and comfort me. And you predicted my intention to resign and prepared the office in advance. Now I've just had a customer walk away, and today I've got a super smooth customer. Could this be your doing too?"

Shi Xing checked the time and realized it was almost time. He stopped what he was doing and looked at Yoda seriously, saying, "I said Xie Yiyi would come, but I really didn't make any plans for today."

"Really not you?" Although Shi Xing nodded emphatically and shrugged to show sincerity, Yoda was still a little unsure: "But my last deal was really super fast. We hadn't even discussed the details before they signed the contract."

Shi Xing: "Congratulations! Isn't it good to have signed a contract? It means they trust you. Just do the follow-up work well."

Yoda was relieved: "Yeah, that's true." After saying that, he walked out with high spirits. Shi Xing looked at Yoda's high spirits and smiled. He was still the same as before.

I never imagined that the ease I felt when signing the contract would quickly turn into the pressure of the subsequent work. Indeed, nothing in this world can be accomplished easily; if it could, it wouldn't be meant for me.

Mo Ke's unanswered calls stirred up unpleasant memories for Yoda of his previous failed sales. If the deal hadn't already been signed, Yoda would have thought it was all a hallucination. Fortunately, the messages in the chat box were replied to almost instantly, so aside from being confusing, they didn't seem to have any real impact.

Although they could communicate online, Yoda still had some details he wanted to ask the other party, since communication would be smoother over the phone.

But the other party didn't answer the phone. Yoda had no choice but to try asking on WeChat: "Hello, are you at work during the day and unable to answer the phone?"

The other person, who usually replies instantly, only replied with a single word after a while: "Mm".

As soon as Yoda saw it, he quickly asked: "Can I call you after you get off work tonight? There are some design things that need to be combined with your preferences to determine what style you want. If we can talk on the phone, we can communicate better."

Yoda watched helplessly as the chat box kept showing "typing," but after a while, the other party only replied with two words: "Never mind."

Hmm? Yoda really doubted whether the person opposite him was real. After all, home renovation is a very important matter for anyone. Only the homeowner knows whether they'll be comfortable living there after it's finished.

Compared to others who were so attentive, wanting the designer to perfect every detail, Yoda had never encountered a customer like Moko before.

However, Yoda was not discouraged. Even though the other party didn't talk much, he still managed to turn one word into two through his own efforts.

Judging from the other person's tone, they might be someone who isn't good with words. Yoda continued to persuade them: "Now that it's the early stages of design, you can tell me what designs you want. I'll try my best to meet your needs. Once we move on to the later construction phase, the basic water and electricity lines can't be modified, which might affect the final result."

Mo replied instantly: No.

Yoda, feeling helpless, made one last attempt: "We need to come to your home to measure the space, and we can discuss the details of the renovation when we meet there."

Mo Ke: The key is with the property management.

Yoda was utterly defeated, comforting herself: "It's okay, I'll go check out the site first. As long as I work hard, everything will be resolved. Yes, I must work hard! Anyway, the renovation isn't urgent; we'll meet eventually." She didn't believe it; she couldn't possibly not see him after the renovation was finished.

After thinking for a moment, I thought, "Probably not."

Liu Si and Youda arranged to go to the home together. Without the homeowner's help, the two had to find the place themselves with the keys. Youda worried that even after signing the contract, the homeowner might never see them again, and they might only discover the design was wrong after it was finished. If that happened, they would become infamous figures ridiculed throughout the design industry online.

The two checked the door number several times before shakily walking inside.

While working with Yoda to record the data, Liu Si asked curiously, "Sister Yoda, so this is actually a real order."

Yoda crouched down to examine the kitchen's waterproofing. The developer had applied one layer, but it was slightly damaged and needed to be repaired. Hearing Liu Si's words, he smiled helplessly: "Do you think I would lie to you?"

"I was just worried you'd get scammed." It's understandable that Liu Si was upset; she had just left when Mo Ke entered, and by the time she returned, the person who signed the contract was already gone. No one had come back after that, which was certainly suspicious.

"Seeing is believing, do you believe me now?" Yoda said casually, but he had actually checked the owner's name repeatedly when he got the keys from the property management office, and only felt relieved after confirming that it matched.

She really couldn't afford to be careless. If the first deal she was hoping for fell through, it would be too bad if the second one didn't go well either. She even wondered if someone was deliberately setting her up when she arrived, only to find out after the installation was finished that the homeowner wasn't the one who signed the contract at all, and that someone else's house had been installed.

Now that he could relax, Yoda could comfort himself, thinking that the other person was just a little shy.

Liu Si pondered, "I must meet them when the house is handed over. I originally thought I was already quite shy, but I didn't expect there to be someone even more shy than me."

Yoda nodded, but in his heart he was thinking: It's hard to say whether I'll even get to see him.

"By the way, what have you thought about what I told you?"
