Chapter 79
"Xie Yiyi, how dare you?"
Yoda looked at Xie Yiyi, who was trying her best to pull in her stomach but still couldn't lift her bridesmaid dress, and was full of questions.
Yoda, who should have been the bride, hadn't even had a chance to put on her wedding dress yet. She and Yingjing were surrounding Xie Yiyi, one holding up her skirt and the other trying hard to tie the straps.
Originally, after Yoda found the wedding dress, she, Xie Yiyi, and Ying Jing decided on the bridesmaid dresses and ordered them in advance according to their respective sizes.
To everyone's surprise, Xie Yiyi couldn't fit into that dress at all.
"Why did you give me the wrong size?" After trying for a long time, Yoda was exasperated because the skirt wouldn't move up at all.
Xie Yiyi took a deep breath and tried to argue, "My size wasn't wrong, it was just an incorrect estimate. I recovered quickly after giving birth before, but this time I don't know what's wrong, the fat on my stomach just won't go down."
Yoda suddenly realized: "No wonder you wouldn't come to try on the clothes when I asked you to."
Xie Yiyi quickly changed the subject: "Don't talk about me. Time is tight and the task is heavy. I have tried very hard to lose weight, but my weight has not changed at all."
Yingjing shook her fingers, which were aching from exertion, and said irritably, "What do we do now?"
Looking at the two people glaring at her from the side, Xie Yiyi quickly tried to think of a solution: "I made preparations. I brought a waist trainer. Everyone, please help me. With a little effort, I can put it on."
Yoda and Yingjing looked at each other, their eyes filled with a helpless resignation: "Fine."
After getting into position, Xie Yiyi leaned on the table in front of her and took a deep breath: "Don't worry about me, come on!"
Yoda, looking at the hard labor in front of him, snapped, "Who cares about you? One, two, three, pull!"
"Ah!" Xie Yiyi screamed in pain; that was way too forceful.
Seeing the skirt gradually closing up, Ying Jing exclaimed with delight, "Quick, quick, it's working! It's almost there!"
Yoda nodded and exerted force again.
Even with her back to the two men who were relentlessly exerting force, Xie Yiyi could tell from the pressure on her body that they had reached the most critical moment. Even though she felt like she couldn't breathe, she could only grab onto everything around her and grit her teeth to hold on: "Waaah!"
After much fuss, she finally managed to put it on. Xie Yiyi held her waist and showed herself in front of the mirror, saying, "Actually, it's not that different. This size isn't small either."
Just as I was about to take a break, Yingjing said, "If you say that again, I'll tighten it for you."
Xie Yiyi touched the corset that was so tight it felt like armor, and quickly refused, "Never mind, it's fine as it is now."
Luckily I got up early; the whole morning was spent just getting dressed and putting on makeup.
After Xie Yiyi and Ying Jing went out to rest, Yoda's mother came in and casually tidied up the clutter on the table. It was all the crumpled cardboard boxes that Xie Yiyi had gripped so tightly in pain; they were no longer useful.
Yoda's mother walked over to Yoda and, according to custom, symbolically combed the back of Yoda's hair with a comb. Looking at Yoda in the mirror, she smiled and said with emotion, "That's wonderful, you're getting married."
Yoda leaned on her mother's arm: "Yes."
Yoda's mother patted Yoda's shoulder, feeling very reluctant to part with him. She remembered how he used to sit in front of her every day waiting to have his hair combed, and now he had grown up. "I won't be able to be with you every day like before."
Yoda smiled mischievously: "But the gifts my mother gave me have always been with me."
Yoda's mother asked, puzzled, "What?"
Yoda smiled and said, "My name means 'not blaming fate, not being controlled by others, but learning from the bottom up.' Whenever I feel unhappy, I think of the name my parents gave me, and all my courage comes from it. No matter what I encounter in the future, I will not be afraid."
Yoda's mother smiled: "You've been doing very well, just as we expected. Even better than I imagined."
A child's name reflects their parents' expectations and also reveals aspects of their personality. Yoda's mother remarked, "Yoo-li is very polite, Yoo-ming..."
Before he could think of a suitable word, You Ming walked in: "I clearly put it here! I finally found the little car made of cardboard!"
Yoda and his mother exchanged a glance, then looked at what appeared to be a toy car that they had casually tossed aside earlier. They quickly and knowingly looked away, pretending not to know anything.
Yu Ming kept muttering about how good, how many, and how great the cars he made were, but he just couldn't find them. As he spoke, he kept glancing at Yu Da and his mother, as if waiting for them to give him a reasonable explanation.
Yoda and his mother knew very well that they must not make eye contact at this moment, otherwise they would face a series of questions: "Where did my things go? Who took them? What should I do? Take me there! No! I want them!"
Before You Ming could ask any more questions, the two closed their eyes and began chatting before they even met his gaze.
Yoda's mother said with great enthusiasm, "You're getting married today."
Yoda quickly chimed in, "Yes, that's right."
Yu Ming, who couldn't find his beloved toy car anywhere, wanted to ask his sister and mother, but he knew he shouldn't interrupt the adults, especially on such an important day.
"Sigh." With a helpless sigh, You Ming shook his head and walked away.
"Whoosh." Yoda and his mother breathed a sigh of relief at the same time, looked at each other, and couldn't help but laugh together.
Yoda took a deep breath, telling himself not to be nervous, but when the moment actually arrived, his heart still couldn't help but pound.
Upon seeing the setup on site, Yoda couldn't help but burst out laughing.
Flowers of all colors were everywhere, but unlike other weddings that use cut flowers, the trendy decorations were all brought up in their pots. At first glance, it looked like a flower market.
When they were seventeen, because Yoda liked them, the two of them ran all over the city, collecting flowers of all colors to make bouquets. But afterwards, the originally delicate and beautiful flowers withered one by one.
Yoda was heartbroken for a long time because of this. She blamed herself for letting the flowers wither faster because of her own affection. From then on, Shixing never gave her a bouquet of flowers again.
Following the flowerpots along the way, Yoda walked step by step toward Shixing. Memories of their youth surged back into his mind as he saw things they had experienced together, becoming even more vivid.
He looked up, the emcee's words still echoing in his ears, but Yoda couldn't hear them; his mind and eyes were filled only with the person before him. From the innocent days of his youth to their companionship in adulthood, everything from the past was vivid in his mind. It's so good, it's him. Thank goodness, he's here.
Yoda saw Shi Xing smiling and bowing slightly to signal him, then suddenly realized it was his turn to speak: "I do."
The bride's hesitation elicited good-natured laughter from the audience due to the emcee's playful remarks.
The ceremony was over while Yoda was still dazed. Looking at the mature and composed Shi Xing beside him, Yoda couldn't help but poke him: "Hey, how come you look so skilled?"
While greeting his friends who were offering their congratulations, Shi Xing replied, "Perhaps, I've thought about this day countless times in my mind."
Yoda opened his mouth, somewhat moved. In his daze, Aunt Wu suddenly appeared out of nowhere, her face full of expectant charm beyond her years: "Little Yoda, your clothes are really beautiful."
Yoda looked down; he was now wearing the dress that Mo Nan's mother had made. Seeing that Aunt Wu liked it, Yoda didn't keep it to himself and took the opportunity to advertise for Mo Nan's mother.
Just as they were talking, Mo Nan's family arrived. Aunt Wu quickly pulled Mo Nan's mother aside, saying that she wanted to do something too.
Hearing this, Li Fen, who was sitting at a table, joined in with interest. Next to her sat Li Fen's neighbor, who, hearing everyone getting more and more excited, thought about making one for his wife too.
Despite her well-concealed appearance, Mo Ke, hiding in the corner, was forced to join the lively conversation after Mo Nan's family discovered that she also shared the surname Mo.
Mo Ke's face was full of disbelief: "I'm all covered up, how could they still talk to me?"
Mo Nan's mother looked understanding: There must be a reason why she dressed like that.
Although Mo Ke was initially at a loss, her gradually closer listening ear showed that she was willing to open up to others.
Tang Yun and Ye Xin volunteered to be the wedding photographers. The two, who usually got along well and were inseparable, were now fighting their own battles, each thinking they took better photos and determined to see who was better.
Yoda felt a surge of emotion; she hadn't expected her former customers to come back. There were rare moments when Yoda felt a pang of sadness. Although she had once understood each person's preferences so deeply and planned their future living environment so meticulously, it seemed that after the project was completed, only goodbye and departure remained.
But now, every customer who comes to the wedding seems to be telling Yoda that she is not just a passerby; they have all witnessed each other's happy lives. Perhaps this is part of the meaning of a wedding: to show everyone you know your commitment to being together, to receive blessings from others, and to embark on a shared future.
Yoda turned her head to look at Shixing. The wedding she had imagined as a boy was just the two of them. But now, those imaginings were fading, and reality was becoming increasingly clear. From now on, they would be facing others together.
Shi Xing stepped back slightly, not too far away, and stood beside Yoda, watching her throw the bouquet behind her.
With a gasp, Zhou Liu and Wang Mian, their auras fierce, collided in mid-air, each clutching a part of their bouquets.
Wang Mian took the left side of the bouquet and said, "Brother, give it to me, I'll thank you."
Zhou Liu held the right side of the bouquet: "You're welcome, I won't give it up."
As they spoke, the two secretly exerted their strength. For a moment, they were evenly matched; the innocent bouquet, aside from some wrinkles, remained completely unmoved. Yoda thought: Luckily, it's made of silk flowers; it can be smoothed out.
Wang Mian gritted his teeth: "You didn't even succeed in confessing your feelings, what use is it to you? Give it to me."
Zhou Liu sneered: "You haven't even met their family yet, you're too early to take it. Give it to me."
The two people who had been honest with each other were now filled with regret. The heartfelt words they had spoken to each other had become reasons to persuade one another to surrender.
Seeing the two of them racking their brains and putting in no effort, Zhou Ying and Liu Si stood hand in hand to the side, laughing heartily: "See? We guessed right."
Zhou Liu and Wang Mian exchanged a glance, both with the same blank look in their eyes.
"Stop fighting over it." Yoda stepped forward. Zhou Ying and Liu Si had discussed something privately and had already asked Yoda for the rights to design the bouquet.
As Yoda reached out and activated the mechanism, the bouquet of flowers split in two. Zhou Liu and Wang Mian each held a portion, stunned. "What's going on?"
Liu Si laughed happily: "Hehe, this bouquet was designed from the start. When they're together, they're perfect; when they're apart, they're independent. It's both a blessing for the newlyweds and a special gift for certain people who'll be racking their brains to keep going."
Wang Mian asked, feeling wronged, "Why didn't you tell me?"
Zhou Liu chimed in, "That's right. We bumped into each other while trying to grab the bouquet, and it hurt quite a bit."
Liu Si raised an eyebrow: "Is this a test for you?" She looked at Wang Mian, who immediately understood and quickly presented the flowers.
Amidst the cheers and laughter of those around him, Zhou Liu awkwardly approached Zhou Ying and said, "Here, take this."
Zhou Ying blushed slightly and turned away, asking, "Why are you giving it to me?"
Zhou Liu was speechless for a moment: "I, I, I. You, you, you." He couldn't get a sentence out for a long time. Zhou Ying said impatiently, "Don't rush me, wait until you've explained yourself."
Ye Xin and Tang Yun didn't join the bouquet-grabbing frenzy at all, standing early on the outskirts of the crowd. They glanced at each other, deciding that with friends by their side and a shared entrepreneurial journey, marriage was something to be left for the person they truly wanted.
Tang Yun looked at everyone and shouted, "Get ready, it's time to take a group photo!"
"one two three!"
"alright."
As soon as Tang Yun finished speaking, everyone relaxed.
After taking a photo holding hands, Liu Si and Wang Mian felt guilty under the watchful eyes of Master Liu, so they quickly let go of each other's hands, but couldn't help but chuckle together.
Zhou Liu said something, and Zhou Ying took the bouquet.
Yoda and Shixing looked at each other. Finally, with their family and friends by their side, they were able to lean on each other and everything was perfect.
However, Tang Yun shakily reached out his hand: "Sorry, I'm used to shooting videos, that was in camera mode, let's take another one."
Xie Yiyi, who was just about to loosen her clothes to catch her breath, exclaimed, "Oh my god, hurry up, I'm about to pass out!"
Ying Jing sighed helplessly, "Serves you right!" He said it bitterly, but he supported Xie Yiyi so that she could lean on him and save some effort.
"one two three!"
"It's really healed."
Xie Yiyi: "Yay!"
