Chapter 47 Countdown to the Alliance

Batman's premonition turned out to be correct, and the Suicide Squad eventually became a hidden danger.

One of their team members, codenamed the Witch Jon, lost control while frequently using black magic. She was controlled by the ancient soul in her body and attempted to release evil forces to rule the earth.

She and Loki, another evil god from Asgard who also wanted to rule the earth, met by chance. Between fighting each other and temporarily dealing with the outside world, they both chose the latter. So the two of them hit it off and immediately started a great cross-species cooperation. It is unknown whether they discussed in advance the issue of the distribution of the spoils and territory after the victory.

But what does this have to do with Superman?

Originally, Loki was going to attack SHIELD and the Avengers, after all, they are official American organizations and the last line of defense on this land. But the witch knows a little more about the earth's ecology, and she put forward another constructive suggestion: we have to deal with Superman first.

The universe's beloved Kryptonian is nearly invincible in the light of the yellow sun. Killing him or controlling him would be a glorious victory for the villain team that wants to rule the world.

Even if you leave Superman alone and want to conquer humans, he will come to you sooner or later.

"You don't look like the type to pay attention to this kind of problem." Loki narrowed his eyes. "Who told you that?"

The witch said vaguely: "...a human from Metropolis, and he also prepared kryptonite for me that can kill Superman."

"Oh..." Loki sighed, "It seems that you have met Superman's archenemy. He hates the superheroes in his city more than he loves his own race. He would rather hand the blade to the devil."

Witch: Are you cursing again?

She said impatiently, "I know he wants to use me to kill Superman, but it's good for me, so I agreed. What about you? If you want to escape, go back to New York and let me deal with Metropolis alone."

"I don't think you need to listen to humans so much." Loki changed the subject, "He asked you to kill Superman and you did it? You are a witch, a demon from hell, why don't you have more confidence in your own abilities? You have the power to manipulate people's hearts, and I," he snapped his fingers and smiled meaningfully, "I happen to be good at this. We can capture Superman and make this... God of the world turn around and face the person he used to protect."

This plan is both evil and interesting, and meets the aesthetics of most people who pursue villains.

The witch was persuaded by him and immediately threw the green stone that Lex Luther had given her as a favor and said, "That's it."

**

"I've heard of you, Superman."

Fortunately, when Louise called, the train was about to arrive at the station, saving Moses the time to think about how to disappear from the enclosed environment without making a sound. He was squeezed in the crowd with his luggage one second ago, and the next moment he came to the center of the metropolis. Loki sat in the center of the Daily Planet Square, surrounded by human police and the army. He looked quite leisurely, with an innate arrogance in his expression. After seeing Moses, he condescended to say hello. The witch stood beside him, looking up at Superman with a passionate look.

"Really?"

Moses crossed his arms and floated off the ground, ignoring the look of relief on the face of the kidnapped mayor who was full of "being saved", and frowned and asked, "What is your purpose in coming to Earth?"

He noticed that Loki didn't look very big.

This means that he is either good with tools, or... he is a magician.

Thinking of Dr. Shivana, whom he had just dealt with in Philadelphia, Moses immediately felt a headache coming on.

"You are more famous in the universe than you think." Loki said to himself, not paying any attention to Superman's doubts. "People who covet your body are spread across several galaxies."

“…”

Moses suspected that he had misheard some dangerous words.

"What?"

"It seems that you really don't care - you are the only known Kryptonian with free will outside the Phantom Space. Endangered species are much more valuable than rare materials." Loki said with a strange expression, "From what I know, the Collector has been asking about your current situation. If you are smart enough, you should find a powerful force that can compete with the strong in the universe to protect you as soon as possible."

He looked around with mockery and disdain: "Instead of being immersed in a backward civilization-like game of playing house with a group of inferior creatures every day."

After listening to him, Moses felt a little angry, amused and helpless. He was not sure whether he could pose a threat to the legendary Norse gods, so he decided to delay time, at least until his old rivals the Avengers or Loki's brother Thor arrived.

"Are you recommending yourself to me? I will consider it. We can discuss this matter slowly." He slowed down his tone, "But you should let go of the mayor next to you first. He has high blood pressure. Long-term emotional imbalance may cause cerebral infarction."

He also used X-ray to look at the mayor's abdominal dirt.

"Cirrhosis? You should also reduce your alcohol intake, Mr. Mayor."

The hostage said with a stiff face: "My family doctor told me... I mean, I will pay attention to it in the future."

"That's on condition that you still have a future," said the witch.

As she finished speaking, Moses suddenly had an unknown premonition in his heart, but he couldn't determine where this sense of crisis came from - damn magic. He wanted to retreat, but he felt as if his brain was immersed in a slurry, and both his thinking and senses became unprecedentedly dull. In his drowsiness, he only heard the system uttering a rare curse, and intermittent mechanical sounds came: "He... invaded... the Mother Box in his hand..."

The last sentence is very clear:

"I'll contact Batman for you!"

What's the point of calling Batman at this time!

Shouldn't you ask if anyone knows magic?

Superman completely lost consciousness in an incredible mood.

When he opened his eyes again, he found himself standing in a golden cornfield.

It was late autumn, the sky was deep and distant, and the air was filled with the sweet fragrance of soil and plants. Several children were playing and fighting on the raised ridges of the fields.

Moses looked at this peaceful scene in confusion, and for a moment he almost couldn't remember what he was going to do.

"Which one is you?"

A voice suddenly sounded behind him, startling him. Moses turned around and found Loki holding a scepter in one hand, wearing his previous armor that was out of place on Earth, with his chin slightly raised, watching the scene with interest. They stood there, but the group of children ignored the two of them.

"What did you do?!"

"Don't get too excited. Stay away from me. Your physique is as annoying as Thor's." The Asgardian evil god raised his hand and waved away Superman's fingers that were stretched out to grab his collar. "This is my domain. You are no longer the invincible Superman."

Moses thought of the system's movements and gradually calmed down. He shrugged with a half-smile on his face and said, "Invincible?"

You probably haven't seen how Luther performs his kryptonite combo punches.

"Isn't it? Humans worship you as a god, just as they worship us. Millions of years have passed, but their thoughts remain the same and have not changed at all."

As they talked, the noise in the field gradually faded away. Loki seemed a little confused. He took two steps forward and stretched out his hands to pull apart the neatly arranged plants. A boy with black hair and blue eyes sat under the yellow leaves with his hands on his knees, sobbing silently. He also couldn't see Moses and the evil god outside. He just lowered his head, and there were still tears on his chubby face.

"Oh..." The god's voice sounded gentle and sweet, but also a bit sticky and malicious. "Come and see, is this you?"

He met Moses' troubled look and finally explained, "This is a memory that belongs to you. But it seems you don't remember it."

“…”

Something is wrong.

Moses recalled what the system had said when it swore before. Did Loki use some means to invade its database?

There are indeed fragments of memories from various parallel universes stored there to perfect the hero's personality. It is the potential emotions attached to these memories that make Clark Kent and Lois become friends and make it easy for Batman to accept his family.

So what they are watching now is something that really happened in some universe?

Moses felt a little uncomfortable when he thought of this. The half of his soul that belonged to the superhuman morality was full of guilt towards his parallel universe self.

Affected by his emotions, his calm expression was infected by anger and became a little sharp.

It was hard for Loki not to notice the change in his momentum. But the God of Mischief suppressed his momentary shudder and pretended to be indifferent: "Your perspective is quite strange. Can Kryptonians remember what happened to them when they were young? Besides--" He bent down and pretended to grab the boy's neck, while Superman, who expected that this scene would not have any results, stared at his empty hand expressionlessly.

"How strange." The evil god said to himself.

The next second, he waved his scepter, the crying child moved away from them, and countless chaotic images and scenes quickly retreated on both sides.

Moses's superhuman dynamic vision allows him to capture the figures of Martha Kent and Lois amid the chaos of light and shadow. Later, there are several Gothic distant shots, showing Superman and Batman standing on the spire of the Gothic tower.

Superman's rage grew even stronger, but he could not exert his full strength in this illusion. He could only control his temper and asked, "Aren't you going to rule the world? Why are you wasting your time here?"

"I now think you are more valuable." Loki noticed that he cared about the other people in the picture and raised his eyebrows. "And you think I didn't do anything? I can stand here and chat with you while manipulating your body to do something else. It's quite interesting to see those superheroes who can't bear to be cruel to you, but you are ruthless to them. It's a pity that I can't broadcast it to you now."

The scepter in his hand was swung in a pattern, and even though Superman was the only one present, the Asgardian god seemed to be trying to attract the audience's attention.

"Even if you don't have these memories, they did happen."

"Look at you," Loki knew that Superman could see all this clearly. He pointed to a scene in which the media and the crowd denounced Superman, and then Clark Kent stood in court for trial. "Your pretense failed so badly. This is the consequence of trying to blend in with the lower creatures. Either you rule over them unbearably, or they hold torches and burn you to death on the platform."

"I'm doing the former, and you seem to prefer the latter. Do you have a masochistic tendency?"

"Stop talking nonsense," said Superman. "I heard about you from the Avengers. A lying liar."

"Who can not lie? Have you not deceived the world?" Loki said indifferently, "You think you have good intentions, but you don't know that in the eyes of ants, those standing above their heads all have the same ugly face."

"Lex Luther, that's your name...why did that human want to kill you?"

He blinked his green eyes and said in a sympathetic tone: "We are in agreement on this point, Superman. You tried to make humans accept you, and I tried to make Asgard trust me, but we both failed. Failure is inevitable. It is not their fault, but you and I are delusional."

“…”

Loki's method of hitting with a stick first and then giving a date is quite skilled, worthy of being the evil god known for his tricks.

Seeing that Superman seemed to be moving, Loki spoke again: "If you don't believe me--"

"There's nothing I don't believe in you." Superman interrupted him.

At this moment, the scene around them froze in a heavy rain.

From afar came the sound of mournful music.

Loki's pupils flickered.

"It's a funeral, with a lot of people watching. I like that."

He walked forward, moving against the flow of people among the musical band and the tide of onlookers, and stopped beside the solemn coffin-bearing team.

The evil god's gaze fell on the young man lying in the coffin.

He was temporarily unable to speak due to the shock.

"You made a mistake." Superman followed and looked at the face with the same eyes closed under the rain. "I really don't remember these. This is not my memory of the previous court interrogation. We are different."

That's impossible.

Loki took a half step back and fell into deep thought.

He was sure that what he was looking through were indeed Superman's memories.

Even if he himself doesn't remember it, those scenes will still be deeply engraved in his mind.

But there are two surprises here.

First, Superman lacks a sense of identity with himself.

Normally, the owner of the memory will automatically and unconsciously put himself into the memory, but Superman is standing from the perspective of an observer. Loki initially thought it was because he didn't remember, but now Superman himself denied that this was not "my" memory.

Second, it is impossible for Superman to have witnessed his own funeral.

If he had really died once, this memory would not appear in his mind in the way it does now.

After all, who, when they die, knows how they are buried?

The prince of Asgard was knowledgeable and quickly thought of a possibility.

"…Is this something that happened in a parallel universe?"

And Superman can see them - or has he?!

But now he has taken the initiative to forget these valuable messages. Why?

Superman didn't answer him.

He watched the heavy rain falling on his iron body like a winding tear streak. People around him either covered their faces and cried, or held their heads and cried bitterly. There was still a sense of unreality in his heart.

If you haven't died once or twice these days, wouldn't you dare call yourself a superhero?

If the system existed, it might answer him that your death was made into a famous scene and appeared repeatedly in major movies.

But now that there are no outsiders complaining, all that is left is emptiness and silence in the world.

After a while, the sound of rain faded away.

Several screens flashed in succession:

The tiny Son of Krypton struggled and screamed silently in the laboratory;

Batman raised his kryptonite spear, and the giant Doom roared.

The Earth is caught in a war, heroes fight each other, and space invaders' ships cross the sky;

Superman, dressed in a black and white uniform, flew in the air and confronted his former friend;

"Kal-El!"

A roar exploded like thunder in the chaotic space.

"Wake up! Look at what you are doing!"

"This world has many ways to develop. What the final outcome will be depends on our own choices." Superman looked deeply at Loki. "I can't interfere with others. I can only ensure that I have a clear conscience."

After saying this, he closed his eyes.

The illusion around me shattered like glass and disappeared in the blink of an eye.

In reality, Superman is lying on the ground, with Batman holding a small piece of Kryptonite in one hand and the other hand against his throat.

After noticing that the blue eyes were gradually regaining clarity, the kryptonite was immediately put away. Knight Gotan reached out and pulled his friend up.

"You finally woke up." He said in a calm, non-accusing voice, "Remember to inform me earlier next time. The more battle damage you cause, the more compensation I will have to pay."

After hesitating for a moment, Batman continued, "In order to prevent this kind of intelligence lag from happening again, we may need to form an alliance."
