"You've mistaken me for someone else, Miss." He Ji said indifferently, not giving the people around her any extra glances.
The people behind him gradually disappeared.
He Ji was about to let go of Li Baobei's hand and turn to leave, but found that she was holding it very tightly.
He panicked instantly. He couldn't let her see him like this, absolutely not.
Li Baobei noticed his panic; she couldn't believe he was so tired of her now.
She released He Ji's panicked hand, watched him turn away heartlessly, and could no longer hold back the pain welling up in her heart. She slowly spoke, her voice very soft: "He Ji, I miss you so much."
He heard her voice and his body trembled uncontrollably. He tried his best to control his emotions.
A metallic sweetness began to rise in his mouth again, and he knew he couldn't linger any longer.
He continued to stride away, leaving Li Baobei alone and desolate in the cold wind.
He Ji's figure gradually disappeared. Li Baobei stood by the roadside for a long time, unable to come back to her senses. He still refused to stop for her. She had dreamed of this scene many times.
But if he doesn't love himself, why is he here?
She had no way of knowing.
He didn't want to see himself at all; he was just worrying unnecessarily.
That's all~
A taxi pulled up beside Li Baobei. She waved it, and the car slowly drove towards her...
In the darkness of the night, He Ji watched the car disappear into the night and fell into endless silence.
"I miss you so much, Li Baobei."
The faint sound was carried away by the cold wind, disappearing without a trace...
Li Baobei sat on the bed, staring blankly at her chat history with He Ji. The communication had stopped a month ago.
All her efforts during this period crumbled the moment He Ji appeared; she still loved him.
How could someone who has truly loved easily forget?
Tears streamed down her pale face. This suffocating feeling tormented her every night, causing her unbearable pain.
She repeatedly typed messages into the input box, but could not send them. She pressed the Enter key again and again, deleting all her longing.
How can love that has penetrated to the bone be erased?
*
noon.
Li Baobei sat on the company's rooftop, gazing at the distant scenery.
This city is large and bustling, giving one a sense of disorientation. In such a vast world, where can she find her place?
Even though she worked hard every day, she couldn't stop the torment in her heart. She slowly closed her eyes and felt the gentle autumn wind blowing and caressing her skin, as if she had gained a little comfort.
"Are you... alright?" A gentle voice rang out, a voice that sounded familiar, like Jiang Ming, the manager of another department.
Li Baobei opened her eyes and met his concerned gaze. In her memory, Jiang Ming always seemed to have a gentle smile and was very helpful to her at work. She did not feel any aversion to him.
"Thank you, it's fine." She casually turned her gaze away, looking into the distance in silence.
Jiang Ming continued, "The company is holding a joint party for our two departments this weekend. Do you want to go?" His voice trembled slightly, but it was not easily noticed.
Li Baobei said calmly, "I think I'll go! I don't seem to have anything to do." She looked at Jiang Ming with a polite smile.
Jiang Ming was momentarily captivated by what he saw, and without any hesitation, he said, "That's good!"
Li Baobei didn't detect the excitement in his tone. She glanced at the time and said casually, "It's almost time. Let's go down together!"
"good!"
The two of them came down from the rooftop together, without exchanging any further pleasantries.
Saturday.
Looking at the cheerful laughter around her, Li Baobei felt quite out of place. She wisely sat down on a wooden stool and stared blankly at He Ji's WeChat Moments.
But his WeChat Moments only had one black line, nothing else, and the bitterness in his heart welled up unexpectedly.
She looked up and saw a young couple from the company not far away joking with each other, and gave a bitter smile.
...
"He Ji, you openly send me so many gifts every day, I don't know how to repay you!" Li Baobei sat on the sofa looking at He Ji. The two looked at each other, the atmosphere was infinitely sweet.
He Ji gracefully sat down and hugged her, saying, "All I've ever wanted is you."
"Would you like to give yourself to me?"
Upon hearing He Ji's words, Li Baobei blushed instantly, lowered her head, and said coquettishly, "I don't want to talk to you~"
She quickly broke free from He Ji's embrace and pretended to walk towards the room. He Ji immediately stood up and hugged her waist from behind, saying, "Don't be angry, I was just teasing you."
"I was wrong, baby." His tone was extremely delicate, exuding a captivating tension that made one unable to resist becoming immersed in it.
She gently turned around, wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him passionately...
"what's on your mind?"
Jiang Ming's voice interrupted her thoughts, and Li Baobei realized that her cheeks seemed a little hot. She quickly calmed herself down and said in a light tone, "It's nothing, I'm just feeling a little bored."
"Bored? It seems a bit." Jiang Ming placed the barbecue he was carrying on the small wooden table in front of her. "Try it, it tastes pretty good."
He had a faint smile on his face, and Li Baobei felt a little embarrassed, so she whispered, "Thank you."
She then picked up a skewer of roasted lamb and chewed it elegantly, unable to resist praising it, "It tastes really good." She raised her bright eyes to look at Jiang Ming, her eyes full of admiration.
Jiang Ming was suddenly flattered by her praise and scratched his head shyly. "I'm glad you like it." A faint blush rose on his face.
