"You're awake?"
Lian Zhi slowly opened her eyes and found herself lying in a carriage with a man sitting next to her, dressed like a merchant.
Alarm bells rang in her mind; after that experience with the couple, she no longer trusted anyone.
Suddenly, she realized that the child in her arms was gone, and she burst into tears in despair, trying to run outside to find the young master.
A hoarse voice cried out, "Young Master, Young Master is missing! I need to find Young Master..."
Chen Fu noticed that the person in front of him seemed to have lost his soul, so he quickly grabbed Lian Zhi, who was trying to rush out.
Lian Zhi stumbled and unexpectedly fell into Chen Fu's arms.
She tried to struggle to her feet, but Chen Fu slapped her on the back of the head with a knife, and she instantly lost consciousness.
Chen Fu looked at the person in his arms and couldn't help but scrutinize her. She didn't look like a person from Yi Kingdom, and her accent seemed to be from the South Kingdom. Why would she be in this desolate place?
That's strange!
He was a merchant who traveled between the Southern Kingdom and the City Kingdom. He had just returned from the City Kingdom when his carriage came to this place. The coachman, who got off to relieve himself, saw a woman who had fainted not far from the roadside.
They also helped get the person onto the carriage.
The horse-drawn carriages were speeding along the road, heading south, covered in dust.
...
Southern country.
Lian Zhi opened her empty eyes and stared at the curtain above. She had lost the young master; she was so sorry to her mistress…
She didn't know how long she had slept, nor how many times she had fainted along the way.
They don't even know where they are right now.
The maid who came in by the bed was overjoyed to see Lian Zhi open her eyes. "Miss, you're awake? I'll go call the young master."
After saying that, the maidservant ran out with a smile, and a moment later Chen Fu walked into the room with an elegant demeanor.
"Where am I now?" she asked in a cold voice, her pale face devoid of any expression.
"Southern Kingdom, Ruyi Street," Chen Fu replied calmly, without taking another step forward.
A hint of surprise flashed in Lian Zhi's eyes, which instantly turned into despair, and tears silently slid down her cheeks.
She returned, but she didn't bring the young master back...
Excuse me, miss!
...
General's Mansion.
"Lian Zhi~ you're not..."
"Where is Yan Zhen?" Yan Aotian's eyes widened as he looked at Lian Zhi kneeling before him. "Why hasn't Zhen'er returned?"
He tried his best to suppress his emotions, but he still couldn't hide the trembling in his voice.
How long has it been? I don't know how long.
How long has his most beloved youngest daughter, Yan Zhen, been missing? More than a year, I think!
He roamed the mountains and valleys for a long time, conquering countless bandit strongholds. But alas... he never saw Zhen'er's shadow.
He couldn't believe that his innocent and kind daughter would end up like this.
Lian Zhi's voice choked with sobs, "Miss... she's dead."
Waaaaah...
"What?"
The glimmer of hope that had ignited in Yan Aotian's heart was instantly extinguished. He sighed in despair and stared blankly at the long corridor outside the door.
In a daze, I saw a little girl slowly running down the corridor.
Her long eyelashes fluttered slightly like butterfly wings, and her small nose and red lips made her adorable.
He was babbling, calling out "Father," "Kid," and so on.
*
Time flies, and five years have passed in the blink of an eye.
Wanqiyan sat in the Imperial Garden, watching the two princes playing and frolicking by the pond.
My thoughts are racing.
...
"This is for you, Zhen'er." Wan Qiyan handed the jade hairpin in his hand to Yan Zhen. "I think it suits you very well."
The girl blinked her big eyes repeatedly, a blush spreading across her face. "You look so beautiful, thank you, Ayan."
Wan Qiyan couldn't help but take her hand, but the girl shyly pulled her hand away, saying, "Ayan, this... is against the rules."
"I'm sorry, Zhen'er."
"I... I just couldn't help myself." Wan Qiyan's tone carried a hint of regret, and he dared not look up at Yan Zhen again.
Yan Zhen spoke softly, her voice trembling: "Ayan, I'm about to come of age."
Hope slowly ignited in Wan Qiyan's eyes as he looked at her as if she were a precious treasure, "I will marry you~"
"Mmm." The girl's face was burning red, delicate and beautiful, like the evening glow, unforgettable.
...
"Your Majesty~" A coquettish voice rang out, and a concubine walked gracefully toward Wan Qiyan.
With graceful steps, each step seemed to carry a breeze, her flowing skirt swaying in the wind like a beautiful butterfly dancing.
Her figure was very similar to Yan Zhen's, but in the end she was still not as good as Yan Zhen.
The woman slowly walked forward, her slender hands entwining around his neck. Her graceful figure clung to his waist, her eyes sparkling with a captivating charm that was astonishing without her even realizing it.
Wan Qiyan's tone softened slightly, carrying a subtle distance: "Why has my beloved concubine come?"
Yang Rouyu leaned against his chest, her voice sweet and coquettish: "Your Majesty, you haven't spoken to Rou'er for so many days~"
Her hand wandered over his waist, hoping to spark a hint of intimacy between them.
"Report!" A sudden voice rang out, and Yang Yu's soft, boneless body trembled slightly and stiffened considerably, but she still held tightly to Wan Qiyan's waist.
"Say it!"
The messenger immediately knelt down, and said to the two men in the pavilion, "Your Majesty, several ministers request an audience."
"Oh~" Wan Qiyan frowned slightly, remaining expressionless, "Summon."
Yang Rouyu reluctantly left, walking to her bedchamber. She sat on the soft couch and exclaimed in a huff, "You're really infuriating!"
Upon seeing this, the maidservant beside her immediately knelt down and whispered, "Your Highness, please don't be angry, or you will harm your health."
