Chapter 24 You Can't Escape

Li Baobei placed the person on the shore.

Upon discovering that the woman was not breathing, they immediately began performing CPR without hesitation.

The people who gathered around thought the woman was probably not going to make it.

While Li Baobei was still pressing on the chest of the drowning woman, some people were scolding her: "You can't even let a dead person have a good time. How can you be so immoral?"

She didn't want to care about anyone else right now. Just as she reached the thirteenth press, the woman suddenly spat out a mouthful of water and then burst into loud sobs.

Li Baobei felt relieved and immediately stood up, intending to turn around and leave.

The woman suddenly knelt down and said, "Thank you so much for saving my life. I have no way to repay you. In my next life, I will be your servant and repay you." She then began to kowtow.

Startled, Li Baobei turned around and grabbed her instantly, calmly saying, "Living well is the best way to repay me," before turning and leaving.

The people who had just been mocking her suddenly fell silent, thinking that this third young lady of the Prime Minister's mansion was truly a deity, able to bring the dead back to life; she was truly a fairy descended to earth.

Li Baobei felt extremely uncomfortable, completely soaked. Her body was so delicate; if she didn't change her clothes soon, she was afraid she would catch a cold.

The master and servant quickly boarded the carriage, which slowly drove away.

He You stood in the crowd watching the departing carriage, his heart pounding with joy. He felt as if his heart was about to leap out of his chest.

When he heard what she had just said, he could believe without a doubt that she was the person who had saved him when he was a child.

He felt as if he had been reborn. All the suffering he had endured before had brought him to this moment, so what did it matter if he had to suffer a little more?

So it really was you!

You truly are a fairy descended from heaven!

You can't escape!

Li Baobei took a bath as soon as she got home.

She felt instantly refreshed, but couldn't help sneezing, though she didn't pay much attention to it.

The next day, after having a happy meal with her father and mother, she continued to disguise herself as a man and went to Dali Temple.

She brought two boxes of pastries. As soon as she entered the dormitory, she saw Anji and immediately gave him one box. "Try it, it's delicious," she said with a smile.

Anji remained as wooden as ever, saying only "Thank you, Miss Third" without adding anything else, but a different feeling stirred within him.

He was trained by the church specifically to be sold as a slave, and she had already served several masters.

But only this third young lady of the Prime Minister's mansion never scolded or beat him. She always spoke to him politely and even brought him food.

She opened the box, picked up a piece of pastry, and ate it.

So delicious!

She thought it was the best pastry she had ever eaten since she could remember.

Li Baobei ran to He You's study. Although she felt a little dizzy, she thought it was because she hadn't slept well last night.

As soon as she entered the study, she saw He You. She ran over excitedly to give He You the pastries, but suddenly tripped and fell forward.

Oh no! We're doomed!

She didn't put down the pastries even after she closed her eyes.

He You reacted quickly and rushed over to support her.

The pain I had imagined didn't come; when I opened my eyes, I saw He You's handsome face.

"Thank you so much, sir. You're so kind, always saving me from danger," she said, her bright eyes blinking excitedly.

She then took out some pastries and said happily, "These are pastries for the adults. You must do me the honor of trying them!"

He You thought this woman was really adorably silly, and that her disguise as a man was probably just a way to fool him.

"When have I ever saved you from danger?" she asked, watching her expression with amusement.

Suddenly, like a cat whose tail had been grabbed, Li Baobei's eyes flickered, revealing a sense of helplessness.

"Sir, you must have misheard me. I didn't say 'often'," she said with an awkward, sheepish smile.

Too much talk leads to mistakes! Too much talk leads to mistakes!

He You sat down, picked up a piece of pastry, and started eating. It melted in her mouth, was sweet and cloying, and seemed to have a faint fragrance after chewing slowly.

He calmly replied, "It's alright."

Li Baobei laughed happily, "If the adults think it's okay, that's good. I'm afraid you won't like it! Hehe!"

Like a child being praised, she instantly felt better.

He You looked at him and couldn't help but smile, without even realizing it himself.

"You look so handsome when you smile, sir," Li Baobei said sweetly, her eyes sparkling like stars.

He You suddenly realized that he was actually laughing!

He then switched to a blank expression, looking at her indifferently.

"Sir, you look very handsome when you smile. You must smile more often. As they say, a smile makes you ten years younger!" she continued to chatter on.

He You turned her head and picked up the documents on the table to read, trying to distract herself.

He was afraid he would lose control and hide her away. He had been searching for her for so long; it was an obsession. He desperately wanted to keep her firmly within his reach so that he would never have to worry about her running away again.

He wanted to tell her, but he was afraid of scaring her; she seemed to be a god sent by heaven to save him.

He thought to himself: Take it slow. Anyway, she can't leave. She's the one who came to me, so she should stay by my side.

Li Baobei felt her consciousness becoming increasingly blurred, and the adults in her vision became double images.

"My lord, how can you be in two places at once?"

After saying that, he fell straight down.

He You pulled the person into his arms, the person inside was burning hot.

I caught a cold again!
