Chapter 41 The Destined One

"Let's go inside, Bizhu."

The coachman pulled the carriage to the nearby stables.

Li Baobei and Bizhu walked slowly along the temple path.

The temple was full of people, all dressed in thick winter clothes.

Time has quietly slipped into the winter month.

Looking at the fallen leaves scattered all along the road, Li Baobei sighed softly. Her breath formed a thin mist in the cold air, making it particularly noticeable.

I couldn't help but sigh, "Time flies so fast. Winter is almost here. Thinking back to when I first came into this world, it feels like a lifetime ago, and my memories are gradually becoming blurry."

Li Baobei wore a golden yellow dress today, which, from a distance, looked like a golden butterfly slowly fluttering in the crowded crowd, making her seem a bit out of place.

Her shoulders were slender and graceful, her waist was slender and delicate, her eyebrows were like willow branches, her skin was as white as snow, and her jet-black hair was tied into a ruyi bun, with a golden butterfly hairpin in her hair.

She wore a silver fox velvet cloak over her shoulders and a pale yellow lace pleated skirt. A gentle breeze blew, causing her black hair to flutter, and she exuded a faint ethereal aura.

People passing by her would often turn around to look at her, giving the impression that a single glance could last a lifetime.

Li Baobei arrived at the temple's main hall and, seeing an empty mat nearby, slowly knelt down.

With his hands clasped together, he prayed devoutly, and soon walked out of the main hall in front of the Buddha.

She and Bizhu searched for a high-ranking monk who could grant them a peace amulet.

After a winding journey, the two finally arrived at a secluded courtyard.

A kind-looking high monk sat quietly with his eyes closed in an elegant meditation room. The door was wide open, as if he were waiting for someone.

Li Baobei knocked on the door. "May I come in, Master?"

The high monk did not open his eyes. He paused for a moment after hearing the voice, then nodded slightly to indicate his tacit consent.

Li Baobei walked in calmly.

She asked cautiously, "Master, may I ask for a safety amulet?"

The master slowly opened his eyes, looking at her with kind eyes, remaining silent for a long time, as if he had seen through her soul.

"I've been waiting for you for a long time. Are you my destined one?"

The master said calmly.

Li Baobei suddenly felt as if someone had seen through her secret, and her mind became tense.

Li Baobei asked softly, "What makes you say that, Master?"

The master poured a cup of tea for Li Baobei with an air of profound mystery, then poured one for himself and slowly drank it.

He then slowly said, "You are not from this world. You came to this world by chance. You came to this world to save someone. He is a cursed star destined by heaven. He will spend his life in pain and despair. Your fate is unbreakable for several lifetimes."

Ji Kong remained calm, his eyes showing no flicker.

Li Baobei felt relieved upon hearing this, finally she was no longer the only one who knew this secret.

She looked at Ji Kong with hope and asked, "Can I change his fate? Am I really the one who can save him?"

"Heavenly secrets must not be revealed."

At this moment, the master closed his eyes and began to meditate again.

Li Baobei felt a slight sense of loss and slowly lowered her head.

The master slowly took out a safety amulet and placed it on the table. "This safety amulet can protect a person from danger once. Please take it, young lady."

Li Baobei was overjoyed and immediately held the safety buckle tightly in her hand.

She stood up gently and bowed slightly to Master Jikong: "Thank you, Master."

He then turned and walked out the door.

She had only taken a few steps when a clear voice suddenly came from inside the room: "This old monk reminds you once again, young lady, that your destined person may suffer a bloody disaster in the near future."

Li Baobei was startled by the voice behind her, then turned around and said to the room again, "Thank you, Master."

He then hurried away.

A horse-drawn carriage sped along the road bathed in the setting sun, the wind biting cold.

Li Baobei returned to the Prime Minister's residence shortly afterward and hurriedly went to the courtyard where the Prime Minister and his wife lived.

She told the couple that she was going back to the Dali Temple, saying things like she was too bored at home. The Prime Minister and his wife noticed that she hadn't been going out much lately, so they agreed.

Before it got dark, she arrived at Dali Temple dressed in black men's clothing.

A moment later, Anji appeared in front of her. It turned out that Anji had been secretly following her all along.

Li Baobei told Anji her thoughts, and Anji didn't say much.

A light carriage went straight out of the city gate and gradually drove into the distance.

Li Baobei sat in the carriage thinking: I heard from others that He You went to Ning'an County, which is about 100 kilometers away from the capital. Recently, many bandits have appeared in Ning'an County. They bully men and women, kill and set fires, and do all kinds of evil.

She silently prayed that He You would be safe and sound, but a vague sense of unease was constantly stimulating every nerve in her body.

As darkness fell, the road became obscured, and the car slowed down.

Li Baobei felt that running at night was too dangerous, so she told Anji that if they saw an inn, they should stay there for the night.

After traveling about ten kilometers, Anji saw a lavishly decorated inn.

After Anji settled the carriage, the two turned and walked into the inn.

As soon as Li Baobei entered, she saw the shopkeeper standing behind the counter.

The man with sharp eyes spotted the person entering and asked with a smile, "Would you like a meal or a room in the hotel, sir?"
