Chapter 48 The Mysterious Ning'an County (6)

Darkness's speed gradually slowed down.

Now, she feels excruciating pain with every step she takes.

The skin on her feet was worn raw, and blood slowly seeped out, dripping onto the mud she had walked on, looking particularly glaring.

She continued walking slowly, her body trembling constantly.

In an instant, footsteps could be heard in the distance.

Anji gently placed Li Baobei next to a hidden tree.

She paused to let her almost numb body recover, and felt a little better.

With a leap, he landed on a tree not far from Li Baobei, his eyes gleaming with bloodlust as he surveyed the surrounding commotion.

It was as if she would deliver a fatal blow the moment anything appeared.

Anji was on edge, every nerve taut, his eyes fixed on what lay ahead, listening as the sounds gradually became clearer.

Sudden!

She sensed someone behind her, then turned around and slapped them hard.

The person behind him reacted quickly and met the attack with a palm strike.

Because the person behind him was too powerful, Anji felt pain all over his body and finally fell off due to exhaustion. The moment he fell, his hat also came off his head, revealing a bloodless face.

The person behind them was instantly terrified and let out a low, horrified cry: "Darkness!"

The war slave then leaped powerfully, flying over to tightly embrace the falling person.

She was like a butterfly fluttering in the night, as if she would disappear into the darkness at any moment.

The two landed steadily on the ground, lying weakly in the arms of the war slave, and then weakly spat out a mouthful of bright red blood.

It looked utterly desolate under the dim moonlight.

The war slave felt a sharp pain in his heart. "Why, why did this happen?"

He felt as if his whole heart was trembling violently, something that had never happened before. Why was this happening?

Suddenly the person in his arms started to struggle, and Zhan Nu realized that An Ji was trying to break free from his embrace.

Then he saw Anji pointing laboriously in one direction, and his gaze followed.

"The third young lady of the Prime Minister's residence, Li Dabao?!"

Soon after, Anji closed his bloodshot eyes.

She was so tired; she seemed to have never been so physically and mentally exhausted before.

Carrying someone for an hour straight would be exhausting for anyone, let alone a woman.

She didn't know how long she had slept, but under the dim candlelight, Anji slowly opened her tired eyes. She felt sore all over, her hands seemed to have no strength left, and her feet were constantly throbbing with pain.

She suddenly thought of Li Baobei and then tried to struggle to get up.

The war slave, who was carefully carrying the medicine in his hand, immediately saw Anji, who was trembling and trying to stand up.

Some of the herbal medicine in my hand spilled out.

He quickly placed the medicine on a simple wooden table and rushed over to support Anji.

"You are very weak and need to rest."

The slave's tone carried an indescribable emotion.

He remained silent and struggled to take a few steps, almost falling over.

The slave immediately went over and hugged her, then turned around and put her on the bed.

"Li Dabao is being rescued. Going there now will only cause trouble. Get some rest and we can talk about it when it gets light."

Anji fell silent instantly upon hearing Zhan Nu's words and stopped struggling.

He immediately went over and brought over the herbal soup, handing it to Anji: "This is medicine to nourish your body, you should take it quickly! It will help you recover faster."

At this moment, the warrior felt as if his mouth was truly incapable of saying anything pleasant except for eating.

Anji glanced at the medicine, then reached out to take it, only to find that his hand joints felt broken and he couldn't move it at all.

The two of them remained awkwardly in that position for a few seconds.

The slave noticed Anji's embarrassment and gently brought the bowl to Anji's lips.

His body was trembling with tension.

Without any hesitation, Anji opened his mouth and drank the medicine in one gulp.

The slave took the bowl back, instantly feeling a sense of relief: "I'll go get you something to eat."

Anji's eyes flickered: "Where is this?"

The slave, slightly flustered, replied softly, "In the military camp."

She then seemed to realize something and continued expressionlessly, "I overheard the bandits saying they were going to attack the camp tonight."

The slave was taken aback for a moment: "I understand. You should get some rest."

He turned and strode out of the tent.

Zhong Lihe was sweating profusely as he helped Li Baobei remove the arrow.

The arrow was embedded deep between her collarbones. To remove the arrowhead completely, one of her ribs would have to be cut open, the arrowhead removed, and then the ribs sewn back together.

The risk was too great; even Zhong Lihe was not confident.

Zhong Lihe looked at He You, whose face was gloomy, and said in a heavy tone, "I really have no confidence in this, but I can take a gamble, because no matter what I choose, if I don't save her, she will definitely die."

He You's eyes were so cold they seemed to be freezing.

If even Zhong Lihe thinks it's hopeless, then there's probably no one in this world who can save her.

He You then nodded blankly.

Then, his eyes looked desperately at the motionless person on the bed.

His heart felt like it was breaking; he wished he were the one lying on top of it.

How could such a weak person withstand such great harm?

The tent was brightly lit, and a figure swayed busily in the candlelight.

The slave paced back and forth outside the tent, unsure whether to inform the master of what Anji had said.
