Li Baobei turned her head to look at the wall behind her with a question in her mind.
On the wall hung a poem, which was Wang Wei's "Acacia".
However, the poem title and signature are blank.
Dongfang Yerong explained, "I found Brother Li's poem to be absolutely exquisite, so I couldn't resist framing it and inscribing it on the wall. I hope Brother Li won't mind."
Li Baobei smiled calmly, "It's no problem at all, I'm honored."
Dongfang Yerong stood up and walked gracefully to the foot of the wall, seemingly lost in thought, and said, "I just don't know the title of this poem. Brother Li, could you name it?"
Li Baobei turned around readily, but remained seated on the stool, her expression as serene as ever. "This poem is titled 'Longing'."
Dongfang Yerong lowered his head slightly, pondering for a moment, then suddenly had a flash of inspiration. "What a wonderful name! What a wonderful name! The poem is titled 'Longing,' a perfect match made in heaven! How wonderful! How wonderful!"
"Brother Li is indeed a remarkable person!" He looked at her with surprise and undisguised admiration.
Li Baobei blushed slightly at the praise, feeling embarrassed. She couldn't help but think to herself, "How could I possibly come up with such a poem? I'm just a porter of nature, how shameful!" Her eyes darted around.
Dongfang Yerong looked at her reddened ear tips. At this moment, she really looked like a ripe red apple, looking delicate and tempting, making it hard to look away.
He looked somewhat flustered and quickly looked away. "Then I will inscribe the poem's title with Brother Li's name." He turned and walked back to where he had been sitting.
He picked up the teacup, took a sip, and remained calm.
Li Baobei quickly concealed her embarrassment, her expression returning to normal. She declined, saying, "The poem title is fine, but the author's name is unnecessary. I prefer to be a low-key person." Her expression was frank and open, revealing nothing else.
"Oh~ Brother Li is indeed a transcendent being who transcends worldly affairs~" Dongfang Yerong smiled slightly, as lightly as a dragonfly skimming the water.
Li Baobei responded casually, "It's just showing off my limited skills in front of an expert. There's no need to make a big fuss. I hope Brother Dongfang understands."
"Hahaha~" Dongfang Yerong laughed heartily, his laughter like a clear spring in summer, making people feel calm and refreshed. His smile was so sincere, as if a ray of sunshine pierced through the dark clouds, instantly illuminating everything around him.
"I understand! I understand! Then I'll offer Brother Li a cup of tea instead of wine, bottoms up!" With that, Dongfang Yerong drank the tea in one gulp, his every move exuding nonchalance.
Li Baobei also raised her teacup, her movements graceful and poised, and drank the tea in her hand clean.
The two talked at length, feeling as if they had known each other for a long time, and time slowly passed by until noon.
Just as she was about to say goodbye and go home for dinner, Dongfang Yerong spoke up: "I had a very pleasant conversation with Brother Li today. May I humbly invite Brother Li to a simple meal?"
She quickly declined, "No, no, I've already bothered you for too long, so there's no need for a meal. Goodbye! Let's get together another day."
He then cupped his hands in a respectful gesture, turned and walked out, and the room became quiet.
Dongfang Yerong curled his lips into a playful smile, a roguish grin on his face. "He You, is this your weakness?"
"hehe!"
"It's really interesting..."
Chang Le Prefecture.
As soon as they entered the mansion, Anji jumped out, looking at Li Baobei with a serious expression, and asked, "Did the princess go to Menglou?"
"Yes, I also met a friend in Menglou named Dongfang Yerong. She seems like a pretty nice person." She replied to Anji with a bright smile.
Anji pressed on urgently, "Did he say anything to you?"
Li Baobei noticed the worry in An Ji's tone and was somewhat surprised: "An Ji, do you know Dongfang Ye Rong?"
After a few seconds of silence, the voice slowly rang out, "I don't know her. I was just worried about the princess's safety..."
Li Baobei was relieved. "Anji, you don't need to worry about me. I'm good at judging people. Dongfang Yerong doesn't seem like a bad guy, hehe~"
"I'm so hungry, let's go eat!" After saying that, she quickly walked towards the hall, intending to eat.
Looking back, Anji was still standing there in a daze.
"Anji, let's go eat!"
Anji snapped out of his daze, gave her a meaningful look, and stiffly followed after her.
Outside the imperial city, a mass grave.
"My lord, these guards have been dead for less than two hours. Should we expand the search area?" Zhan Nu asked with a solemn expression.
I couldn't help but think of the recent news of sentries dying suddenly around the capital. The Dali Temple has been investigating day and night for more than half a month, but there is still no news.
The killer was ruthless; almost all the guards were killed with a single blow, without any chance to fight back.
He You remained calm, gently moving the guard's head through the handkerchief to reveal the horrific knife wound on the victim's neck.
He frowned slightly, stood up indifferently, and the slave immediately handed him a handkerchief to wipe his hands.
He You reached out and grabbed the handkerchief, vigorously wiping her well-defined knuckles before ruthlessly discarding it.
He exuded a terrifying aura, and the guards standing beside him kept their lips tightly shut and remained silent, waiting for orders to be given.
"Give the body a proper burial. Give the order that all the guards remain inactive for the time being, hide among the people, observe in secret, and act on my secret orders."
"Yes," the guards answered in unison.
When He You returned to his residence, it was already midnight. He planned to turn around and go to the Princess's residence to see the person he loved. He hadn't seen her for many days and missed her terribly.
Just as he was about to leap lightly, a voice came from behind: "Lord He~"
"Nannan!"
He You turned his head sharply; that voice was etched into his very bones, and he would never forget it.
