The two sat facing each other, unable to touch each other.
Su Yaoyao's voice trembled slightly, her gaze fixed on the man's face, unwilling to look away for even a moment. Yu Chiyan's eyes were cold, he looked at Su Yaoyao, his brows furrowed, his tone icy and devoid of emotion.
“Su Yaoyao, didn’t I tell you not to appear in front of me?”
Hearing this, Su Yaoyao wasn't sad; instead, she laughed. "Yu Chiyan, I won't leave. If you're so capable, then have someone arrest me!"
Upon hearing this, Yu Chiyan's face darkened, and his hands clenched involuntarily at his sides.
“Su Yaoyao…”
Before Yu Chiyan could finish speaking, Yao Yao interrupted him at double speed: "Yu Chiyan, don't even think about making me leave Nancheng. I can't leave now."
Upon hearing this, Yu Chiyan's eyes flashed with a cold light; "You..."
Su Yaoyao smiled and said, "Don't worry, you'll be able to leave soon."
Upon hearing this, Yu Chiyan's eyes turned cold, and he instantly guessed what was going on, his face turning extremely ugly.
"Su Yaoyao, what did you say to Yu Qing?"
His gaze was cold and fierce, but Su Yaoyao was not afraid at all. She stared steadily at the man in front of her, her tone gentle.
"Don't be angry. You can't stop me now. Don't get yourself worked up. It's not worth it."
It would have been better if he hadn't said that, because once he did, Yu Chiyan's face darkened even more, and he said in a cold voice.
"Su Yaoyao, my affairs are none of your business. We are already divorced. You are not worthy to interfere in my affairs."
These words unsurprisingly caused Su Yaoyao a pang of pain in her heart.
Su Yaoyao's face turned pale instantly, and her whole body trembled slightly, but Yu Chiyan continued to say those hurtful words.
"Who do you think you are? Interfering in my affairs only makes me think you're despicable right now."
Yu Chiyan's hands, which were placed under his body, were clenched into fists, and the bulging veins on the back of his hands showed that the man was emotionally unstable at the moment.
Su Yaoyao felt a pang of pain in her heart from his words, but she still wore a smile on her face; "Yu Chiyan, think whatever you want."
After saying this, Su Yaoyao turned and left. She was afraid that if she stayed any longer, Yu Chiyan would say something even more hurtful. She knew that Yu Chiyan didn't want to put her in a dangerous place, so he wanted to force her to leave Nancheng. But how could he know that even if he wanted to leave, she couldn't leave now?
As soon as he stepped out of the police station's main gate, Huo Xiting walked up to him.
"Yaoyao".
He was dressed in white casual clothes, with a gentle smile on his face. Su Yaoyao's face remained expressionless when she saw him.
"Could you take me to the hospital? I want to see my grandma."
Huo Xiting smiled and nodded; "Of course, get in the car."
The two got into the car one after the other, and about an hour later, the vehicle stopped at the hospital entrance.
Su Yaoyao got out of the car and went straight to the ward where Old Madam Yu was.
The old man was still unconscious and showed no signs of waking up. Seeing his increasingly withered and frail body, Su Yaoyao felt a tightness in her chest.
She sat on the edge of the old lady's bed, without saying a word, just quietly keeping her company.
Hearing the commotion, Nan Jiangmu knew Su Yaoyao had arrived. He put down what he was doing and appeared at the door of the ward.
However, Nan Jiangmu did not expect that Huo Xiting was also here, and his expression immediately turned cold.
"Huo Xiting, you still dare to come here?"
Huo Xiting raised an eyebrow, his smile gentle and warm. "What do you mean by that, Dr. Nan? I was worried about the old lady's health, so I came to see her. Is there anything wrong with that?"
Nan Jiangmu clenched his fists, his face turning cold. Then, as if thinking of something, he suddenly let out a cold laugh.
"Huo Xiting, don't think I don't know who you are."
Huo Xiting tilted his head, a dangerous glint in his eyes; "So?"
A meaningful smile immediately appeared on Nan Jiangmu's face; "Huo Xiting, if one day you find yourself recognizing a thief as your father, I wonder how you'll feel?"
Upon hearing this, Huo Xiting's breathing quickened; "Nan Jiangmu, what do you mean? Explain yourself!"
Su Yaoyao heard Huo Xiting's voice and came out of the ward.
"Dr. Nan, what happened?"
Upon seeing Su Yaoyao, Nan Jiangmu's expression immediately softened. He glanced at Huo Xiting before looking at Su Yaoyao.
"Miss Su, why didn't you let me know you were coming?"
Su Yaoyao smiled; "I was just about to come find you."
As soon as he finished speaking, Huo Xiting frowned. "Yaoyao, we still need to go back to the old house for dinner this afternoon."
Nan Jiangmu's expression immediately turned cold; "Some people shamelessly occupy other people's houses, and I don't know how they can say such things so casually."
Huo Xiting's expression stiffened, and his hands, which were placed at his sides, tightened involuntarily.
"Ha, a mere house, I don't want it, and I don't care about the Yu family either, but who told me the Yu family owes me this?"
Su Yaoyao's expression stiffened upon hearing Huo Xiting's words.
Nan Jiangmu smiled. Sure enough, as soon as these things were mentioned, Huo Xiting lost his temper and forgot to pretend in front of Su Yaoyao.
Huo Xiting obviously realized what was happening. He looked at Su Yaoyao, wanting to explain something, but unexpectedly Su Yaoyao spoke first.
“Indeed, back then, the Huo family was taken by Yu Chiyan, so it seems reasonable to give him the Yu family in return.”
Huo Xiting was clearly surprised that Su Yaoyao would say such a thing, but when he thought about how she had previously stated that she would not participate in his business struggle with Yu Chiyan, he breathed a sigh of relief.
