Your family.
Since the incident with Xu Xiaoxin, Jun Xian has been returning to the Jun family less and less. If it weren't for his mother returning from overseas for medical treatment, Jun Xian would probably have missed today's family dinner.
The emperor sat in the main seat, his face solemn and dignified. Beside him sat a beautiful noblewoman with a pale face but well-maintained appearance.
The woman was none other than Junxian's mother, Shi Peiran.
Jun Xian sat to the side of his father, and next to him sat Xiao Qing.
Shi Peiran also adored Xiao Qing, and chatted with her about everyday things at the dinner table.
"How is your grandfather's health?"
Xiao Qing smiled sweetly. "Grandpa is in good health. He still talks about you, Auntie, from time to time these days."
Shi Peiran smiled and said, "In a couple of days, your uncle and I will personally visit your grandfather at the Xiao family."
Shi Peiran had just returned and was unaware of the situation between Junxian and Xu Xiaoxin. When she spoke, she glanced at Junxian with her eyes. Xiao Qing immediately understood what Shi Peiran meant: she wanted to go to the Xiao family to discuss her marriage with Junxian.
Xiao Qing blushed slightly, but out of the corner of her eye she glanced at Jun Xian and saw a cold look on the man's handsome face, and a bitter feeling welled up in her heart.
Shi Peiran, completely unaware of the situation, continued to add to the poem with great enthusiasm.
“Sigh, when I was receiving treatment abroad, I kept thinking that when I returned to China, I must urge you and Junxian to get together as soon as possible. I don’t know when my body will stop working. I just want to see you and Junxian form a family and give me a big, fat grandson. That would be enough for me. I can rest in peace without any regrets.”
Shi Peiran's words were very sad, which immediately made the atmosphere heavy.
The joy on the father's face faded, and when he looked at his wife, his brows furrowed.
"Why are you saying such discouraging things again?"
Xiao Qing also spoke up: "Yes, Aunt, please don't say that. Uncle would be so upset if he heard that. You will live to be a hundred years old, and... you will see my and Junxian's child grow up..."
As Xiao Qing spoke, her face flushed crimson.
Shi Peiran laughed; "Hahaha, okay, okay, I won't say anything more. I still want to hold my grandson in the future."
No sooner had Shi Peiran finished speaking than a crisp 'bang' rang out from the dining table.
Everyone looked toward the source of the sound and saw that Junxian had put down his bowl and chopsticks. The sound he had just made was the bottom of the bowl hitting the table.
"A-Xian, what's wrong?"
Seeing his pale face, Shi Peiran spoke with a puzzled and worried tone.
"Mom, you'll live to be a hundred. Don't worry too much. I'm full, I'm going to the company."
As Junxian spoke, he left his seat.
Xiao Qing's face turned pale upon seeing this.
The father's face also darkened, and disregarding Shi Peiran's presence, he roared out in anger.
"It's the weekend, which company are you going to?"
Junxian paused, then casually tossed out a sentence without even turning his head: "It's too stuffy in this building, I'm going out for some fresh air."
After saying this, the man turned and left without pausing for a moment.
When the father saw that he was unyielding, he got so angry that he threw down his bowl and chopsticks.
Shi Peiran looked astonished and couldn't help but look at her husband and ask him a question.
"What's wrong with our A-Xian?"
It would have been better if she hadn't spoken; the moment she opened her mouth, her father's anger surged even more uncontrollably.
"Isn't it because he's your good son?!"
After uttering an angry remark, he also left the table.
Shi Peiran's face turned even paler. She clutched her chest and coughed lightly. Xiao Qing patted her back to help her catch her breath, her face showing some concern.
"Auntie, please don't be angry, take care of your health."
Shi Peiran coughed twice, her breathing becoming labored. She held Xiao Qing's hand and shook her head weakly.
"I'm not angry, Qingqing. Did you and A-Xian have a fight?"
She remembered that she didn't say anything, she just wanted Junxian and Xiaoqing to get married as soon as possible, and then Junxian suddenly said that he had to leave.
When Xiao Qing heard her ask, a hint of embarrassment flashed across her face.
"Brother Junxian, he..."
Seeing her reaction, Shi Peiran knew that something was wrong between the two of them, and hurriedly asked.
"What exactly happened?"
Xiao Qing helped Shi Peiran to the table before telling her about Jun Xian and Xu Xiaoxin.
After hearing this, Shi Peiran was stunned.
"You mean, the person A-Xian likes now is that Xu guy?"
Xiao Qing's face stiffened; "Auntie, Brother Junxian was just seduced by a vixen."
Upon hearing this, Shi Peiran's gaze turned cold.
“I’d like to see what kind of girl could make my son fall for her.”
Xiao Qing lowered her head, and upon hearing these words, a chill flashed in her eyes again.
"Shall I ask her where she is?"
Shi Peiran gave a soft "hmm".
...
The Imperial Court.
Su Hai had been waiting in the office all morning, but Yu Chiyan still hadn't appeared. He couldn't help but get anxious, so he grabbed a passing staff member at the door and asked.
"Excuse me, when will your CEO be coming to see me?"
The man whose clothes were being pulled pushed up his glasses, a hint of impatience flashing in his eyes.
"Our CEO is still in a meeting in the conference room. Please wait a little longer."
As soon as he finished speaking, the man pulled his clothes back and turned to leave. Su Hai didn't dare to stop him. He watched for a while before returning to the lounge.
About twenty minutes later, Jiang Chen finally pushed open the door to the lounge.
