Five minutes later.
The waiter brought over two cups of Pu'er black tea and a nine-compartment platter of braised meats.
Wow, it's so beautiful!
"It looks delicious!"
Seeing the exquisitely presented braised dishes, Jiang Jie and Chen Feidan widened their eyes and swallowed hard.
"Please enjoy your meal, esteemed guests!" The waiter bowed slightly, then walked to the far corner of the private room, ready to serve the guests at any time.
Chen Feidan had already put on her gloves and picked up a piece of duck neck, while Jiang Jie stared blankly at the platter, feeling that something was off.
Chen Feidan was taken aback for a moment upon seeing this, and asked, "Eat up, what are you spacing out for!"
Jiang Jie leaned closer to the braised food platter and smelled it, then looked at Chen Feidan:
"Dan, didn't you notice that the smell we caught at the stairwell is different from the smell of this plate of braised food?"
Upon hearing this, Chen Feidan took a deep sniff.
"Yeah, this one doesn't smell as good."
"Then what should we do? Where is the problem?"
Chen Feidan and Jiang Jie looked at each other, and then Jiang Jie smiled.
"Fine, let's eat it. Maybe this will taste better than the braised food I smelled in the stairwell!"
Chen Feidan thought it made sense, so she took a bite of the duck neck.
After chewing a few times, her brows furrowed.
"This...tastes wrong."
Seeing this, Jiang Jie also picked up a piece of duck neck and tasted it, her expression turning somewhat unpleasant.
"I don't think it tastes as good as Zhou's duck!"
Neither of them was very happy that they didn't get to enjoy the braised dishes at afternoon tea.
A helpful waiter standing nearby spoke up upon seeing this:
"Distinguished guests, if there is anything you need help with, please let us know, and we will do our best to assist you!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Jie had a sudden inspiration and thought, "That's right, the girl I met in the stairwell was wearing a uniform, so she's probably an employee here. Could it be the staff meal?"
Thinking of this, she looked at the waiter.
"Um, could we try your staff meals?"
