So Li immediately agreed and even prepared some food and herbs for Ren Yaoqi to take with her. Li had originally wanted Ren Yaohua to come along, but Ren Yaohua said the eldest daughter of the Lei family said she would be coming over in the next few days, and she was afraid that if she and Ren Yaoqi were gone, Lei Pan'er would cry and make a scene when she arrived and didn't see anyone. Although she knew Ren Yaohua's words were all excuses, Li said nothing but sighed.
Ren Yaoqi took two trusted maids and went alone in a carriage.
The courtyard where the third branch of the Ren family currently lived and the residence of Prince Xian's family were located southwest and northwest of Baoping Hutong, respectively, separated by the vast Yunyang Academy. While the distance wasn't too far, it wasn't close either.
After the carriage emerged from the alley in front of Ren's house, Ren Yaoqi instructed the woman driving it, "Go around to Zhengyang Street. I need to buy two boxes of dim sum from Fumanlou to take with me."
The woman driving the carriage did not suspect anything and turned the carriage back to Zhengyang Street.
It was still very early when Ren Yaoqi went out. The area near Fumanlou on Zhengyang Street was mostly lined with teahouses, restaurants, and dim sum shops. Since it was not yet lunchtime, it was not as busy as at noon, and there were fewer people.
Ren Yaoqi's carriage first stopped at the entrance of Fumanlou. Ren Yaoqi sent the two maids who had followed him away and said, "Go in and buy me two boxes of freshly baked snacks. It's still early, so I'm afraid you'll have to wait a while."
The two maids hurriedly said it was nothing serious.
Ren Yaoqi asked Pingguo to count out some small change for them and said, "There's tea and snacks in Fumanlou. You can go in and have some tea while you wait. I'll wait for you in the teahouse up ahead."
The two maids took the money and happily left.
Ren Yaoqi asked the driver to drive the carriage forward a little further, and finally entered a side alley behind a teahouse and went in through the side door in the alley.
This teahouse welcomes female guests, so there is a special entrance and exit for female guests.
As soon as Ren Yaoqi got off the carriage, he saw Tongxi.
Normally, there were no male customers here, so Tongxi's appearance was a bit unexpected, but Ren Yaoqi was not surprised at all. Because apart from them, there were no other customers in this teahouse today.
Tongxi saw Ren Yaoqi and immediately came forward to greet her, bowing and saying, "Fifth Miss."
Ren Yaoqi nodded and motioned him to lead the way.
Tongxi took Ren Yaoqi and Ren Yaoqi's two personal maids to the second floor of the teahouse, and then stopped in front of a private room.
Tongxi glanced at Ren Yaoqi, then stepped aside.
