Chapter 64 Face-to-face (2/3)

Ren Yaoqi turned around and walked to the wooden bench in the pavilion without changing her pace and sat down. The young man sat down opposite her in an elegant posture.

Xiang Qin stood behind Ren Yaoqi with a bitter face, but she occasionally glanced at the young man and secretly looked at the women who were getting closer and closer.

"Strange! Where did that bitch's mistress hide?"

"Aunt, could it be that Uncle Si was mistaken? We haven't seen Uncle Si's disheveled man in white all the way here."

Xiang Qin's eyes twitched as she glanced at the young man in white robes across from her. She secretly reached out to pull at Ren Yaoqi's sleeve.

A faint smile appeared on the young man's lips, like flowing water under the moon and a gentle breeze. He raised his eyelids and glanced at the master and servant opposite him.

Xiang Qin was stunned for a moment before her face flushed. She put down her hand, lowered her head, and didn't move again.

Ren Yaoqi had a calm expression. She neither looked outside nor at the young man. She just tilted her head to look at a magnolia tree growing by the pond next to the pavilion. The white flowers that seemed to be half-open attracted all her attention.

The women had already walked outside the pavilion, and when they saw someone in the pavilion, they stopped and looked over.

The young man in white had a sandalwood bracelet on his right hand at some point. He fiddled with it leisurely from time to time, and the beads on the bracelet gently and rhythmically hit each other, making a sound of metal and stone.

Ren Yaoqi then turned around and looked at the bracelet with some curiosity. It turned out that the bracelet looked like sandalwood but it was not sandalwood.

The young man smiled faintly at Ren Yaoqi, handed the bracelet to him, and said slowly, "This is 'Golden Stone Wood'. It looks very similar to sandalwood and even has the scent of sandalwood, but it's not. The Buddhist beads on it are engraved with the entire Diamond Sutra. The words are as thin as dust, and you need a special mirror to see them."

His voice was low and soft, and seemed to carry a special kind of magic. Ren Yaoqi unconsciously took the bracelet he handed her. It felt slightly heavy in her hand, and the coldness pierced her skin.

Rubbing them with my thumb, I could see that each bead had some slight bumps and depressions on it. When I looked at it with my eyes, I could only see that it seemed to be covered with irregular patterns, and I couldn't tell that there were any words on it.

The women looked into the pavilion for a few seconds and then turned their eyes away, talking in low voices as they left.

The young man slowly stood up. Just as Ren Yaoqi was about to hand the bracelet back, he had already turned and walked out of the pavilion. He didn't seem to be moving very fast, but he disappeared from sight in an instant. The faint scent of medicine also disappeared with it.

Xiang Qin finally realized what was happening and called out, "Oh, Fifth Sister, his Buddhist beads bracelet wasn't taken away."

Ren Yaoqi looked at the bracelet in his hand quietly, with a thoughtful look in his eyes.

Xiang Qin looked at the fork in the road he had left and sighed with regret, "What a pity that such a person would become someone else's mistress."

Seeing that Ren Yaoqi remained silent, Xiang Qin asked with some confusion, "Sister, was he just using us to get rid of those people? Was this bead his thank-you gift to you?"

Ren Yaoqi didn't answer, but handed the bead to Xiang Qin: "Keep it for now, just as if you found it. If you have the chance to meet it again in the future, you can return it."

Xiangqin quickly agreed, took the bracelet, wrapped it in her handkerchief, and put it in the pouch around her waist with gratitude.
