Until the man walked to her bed and stopped, his figure blocking the light coming in from the south window, Ren Yaoqi frowned, her eyelashes twitched and she wanted to open her eyes, but the man sat down beside her bed, and before she could open her eyes, she fell into a warm embrace.
Ren Yaoqi's body stiffened, and then a soft smile appeared on her face. Without struggling, she gently rubbed the visitor's neck: "You're back?"
This ordinary sentence is as if the person went out this morning to do a small thing and returned home in the evening.
The man responded by tightening his grip and holding her tighter.
The maids in the room had all left at some point. Ren Yaoqi quietly let Xiao Jingxi hold her for a while, then she opened her eyes and raised her head to look at him.
Xiao Jingxi was thinner than when he left, and there was a hint of blue stubble on his chin. Ren Yaoqi raised her hand and caressed his face inch by inch. Although she said nothing, her movements were filled with tenderness that only the two of them could feel.

The two looked at each other and understood what the other meant.
Xiao Jingxi said sorry because he felt that he had put Ren Yaoqi in danger, and he was not by her side when she needed him most, and he had made her worry for so long.
She said thank you because she was grateful that he kept his promise and came back. As long as he was back, nothing else mattered to her.
Xiao Jingxi couldn't help wanting to kiss her, but as soon as his lips touched hers, he straightened up again and said with some annoyance, "I should have changed before coming in."
When Xiao Jingxi came back, the only thought in his mind was to see her, to see her as soon as possible, and to see that she was safe and sound, so he almost walked back to Zhaoning Palace without stopping, even leaving behind those who wanted to come in to report.
