Ren Yaoqi said very sincerely: "But I think the princess did a great job."
Xiao Jinglin shook his head and asked, "Do you know the eldest young lady of the Su family?"
Ren Yaoqi was stunned. She thought she had explained this question before.
Xiao Jinglin seemed to understand what she was thinking and smiled at her. "So your cousin was the one who badmouthed this Zeng in front of you? Otherwise, why did you look at her with murderous eyes?"
Ren Yaoqi couldn't help but frown. Murderous intent? She thought she had concealed it well, at least enough to fool those people just now. Could her hostility be so obvious? This was not a good thing.
Xiao Jinglin looked at Ren Yaoqi's frown and curled his lips: "Don't worry, I'm the only one who felt it, no one else can see it." Xiao Jinglin paused and said, "But Zeng married from Jiangnan, you should not have seen her, how could it be..."
Ren Yaoqi lowered his head and remained silent, as if he was thinking about how to answer this question. Xiao Jinglin was not in a hurry. She just asked casually. If Ren Yaoqi didn't want to answer, she wouldn't force him.
After a while, Ren Yaoqi said softly, "This young lady from the Su family doesn't look or act like her. I just don't like people who are two-faced. They remind me of bad things."
Xiao Jinglin seemed to be surprised to hear such words from Ren Yaoqi. She had never heard her say anything negative about anyone else, but she didn't hide her dislike for Zeng, whom she was supposed to be meeting for the first time. Xiao Jinglin couldn't help but recall Zeng's every move, and as she thought about it, she felt something was wrong.
Ren Yaoqi supported his chin with one hand, his eyes fixed on a corner of the curtain that was blown open by the wind: "It's just like the feeling when the princess sensed my so-called 'murderous intent' before. I just feel that this woman is not a good person." Ren Yaoqi was rarely so willful as to make such an unfounded conclusion.
Xiao Jinglin didn't take it seriously and nodded. "I understand. Although this feeling is groundless, it's incredibly accurate. It once saved my life when I encountered an enemy on the battlefield. So you don't have to doubt your judgment. This Zeng might not be a good person."
Ren Yaoqi couldn't help but chuckle. Most of the bad emotions caused by seeing Zeng were dispelled by Xiao Jinglin's words.
She thought that this might be why she felt that she and Xiao Jinglin had a good relationship. If it were anyone else, they would think that she was very unkind to slander a woman she had just met for the first time.
