Chapter 60: Seeing Each Other (1/3)

Lin Kun looked at his wife in his arms, who looked determined, but the words of Old Master Ren came to his mind.

"...My Ren family isn't one to be unreasonable. Jia'er has been married into your Lin family for many years, yet she's childless. She's three years older than you, and is already twenty-nine. Doctor, even if she safely gives birth to this baby, it's unlikely she'll have children again. We, the Ren family, can't stand to see your second branch of the Lin family die alone in your generation... Once you have a few children, we can negotiate on your behalf with the Lin family. Then, the first branch of the Lin family won't be able to use your lack of children as an excuse to make things difficult for you..."

Lin Kun lowered his eyes to hide his thoughtful expression.

Suddenly, Ren Shijia screamed, and Lin Kun snapped back to his senses. He lowered his head and asked hurriedly, "What's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Ren Shijia, however, held his palm and placed it against her abdomen, saying with a look of joy, "Husband, he's moving, the child is moving."

Sure enough, Lin Kun felt the palm of his hand against Ren Shijia's abdomen as if it was lightly kicked by something. He couldn't help but smile: "Yeah, he was moving, and he kicked me."

Ren Shijia was so moved that tears welled up in her eyes. She hurriedly grabbed her husband's hand and asked as if to confirm, "It's a healthy baby this time, right? He will definitely be born safely?"

Hearing this, Lin Kun couldn't help but curl up his open palms slightly. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, he was already gentle and peaceful: "Well, he will be safe."

Ren Shijia breathed a sigh of relief, put his hand on the back of Lin Kun's hand and pressed it against his abdomen, then nestled into Lin Kun's arms, a satisfied smile on his lips.

Lin Kun had dinner in Ren Shijia's yard and planned to return to Yunyang City.

This time he came to the Ren family to pick up his wife and take her back to Yunyang City. However, Ren Shijia was still angry and insisted on staying at her parents' home to give birth. Lin Kun's persuasion was in vain and he could only go back to Yunyang City alone.

Without telling anyone, the couple agreed to wait for another two months until Ren Shijia was about to give birth and Lin Kun would come over.

When Lin Kun came out of Nuanxiang Pavilion, the old woman who was good at making medicinal food happened to walk past the door.

Lin Kun paused in front of her and said in a very cold voice that no one else could hear: "You will leave after the baby is born."

The old woman smiled and lowered her head upon hearing this, and said in a barely audible voice, "Don't worry, Mr. Lin Liu. I won't stay here. I wish Mr. Lin Liu all his wishes come true!"

Lin Kun looked at her one last time and said, "Tell your master to take care of himself!" Then he walked away.

After he left, the old woman straightened her back and curled her lips slightly in disapproval.

In the afternoon, Old Madam Ren came to Nuanxiang Pavilion again. This time, she brought four teenage maids with her for Ren Shijia to review.

The four maids were all born in the Ren family. Old Madam Ren planned to buy in some from outside if she couldn't find a suitable one, as most maids born in the family were well-behaved and easy to control.

The maids were all decent-looking, not particularly outstanding, and their behavior was very polite. One of them, Jinlian, was a waitress in front of Old Madam Ren.

Although Ren Shijia still felt a little bitter, she had already come to her senses. She felt even more guilty when she saw her husband. So, she wasn't so repulsed when she saw the old lady leading the group.

She reluctantly glanced at the maids for a few times, and when Old Madam Ren sent them away, she said, "Mother, please choose whoever you like. But my husband wants to wait until the child is born and I return home before making any plans, so it's better to keep her and teach her some manners first."
