Chapter 79: Investigation News (1/3)

When Liao came out, Ren Yaoting was still standing quietly in the corridor in a daze.

Turning around and seeing Liao's face full of pride, Ren Yaoting's eyes lit up and he hurried forward to support Liao. "Grandma, how is it? Did he agree with you and your great-uncle?"

When Liao saw that it was her only legitimate granddaughter, the smile on her face grew even wider. She patted Ren Yaoting's hand that was supporting her and said, "Of course I agree."

Ren Yaoting was so overjoyed that she started to speak incoherently, "So the marriage between Third Sister and Young Master Han...can't be successful?"

Upon hearing this, Liao looked at Ren Yaoting in surprise: "How did you know I was here for this matter?"

Ren Yaoting hesitated: "I saw that you were in a bad mood this morning, so I asked the people in your yard."

Mrs. Liao didn't think it was a problem. Instead, she was happy that her granddaughter cared about her.

"That third sister..." Ren Yaoting really wanted to know the exact news.

Liao said nonchalantly, "A marriage between the two families is no joke. How can it fail? From what they said, it won't be long before the Han family sends a matchmaker to their house."

Ren Yaoting was struck by lightning when he heard this: "What? Young Master Han is going to get engaged to my third sister?"

Liao looked at Ren Yaoting strangely: "Why are you speaking so loudly?"

Ren Yaoting's face turned pale and he followed Liao in a daze.

A few days later, Ren Yaoqi had just come out of the study in the west wing when her maid Sang Zhen reported to her, "Sister, someone has come from your maternal grandfather's family. The mistress has just invited someone to the main room to talk."

Upon hearing this, Ren Yaoqi turned around and walked towards the main room, asking, "When did you come? Why didn't you tell me?"

"I came in less than a quarter of an hour ago. You were in the study at that time. The master did not allow servants to enter and leave the study at will, so I did not dare to go in." Sang Zhen replied as he followed Ren Yaoqi's footsteps.

Ren Yaoqi didn't say anything more and went straight to the main room.

Li's two big maids, Xier and Queer, were guarding the door. There were no other maids around. Ren Yaoqi knew at a glance that it was Nanny Zhou who had ordered that no outsiders were allowed to approach.

Xier and Queer looked at each other when they saw Ren Yaoqi coming over. Xier was about to go in and report, but Ren Yaoqi had already waved his hand and lifted the curtain to go in.

Xier and Queer looked at each other again, and finally stood there obediently with their hands behind their backs without moving.

When Ren Yaoqi entered, the main room was empty. A faint whisper emanated from the east side room to her right. She approached the curtain and heard a female voice inside: "...Xia Sheng also learned that the old lady of the Han family was once a capable woman. Because Han Jianping only had her as a daughter, and his first wife died young, she was the one who made all the decisions in the family. However, after marrying Han Dongshan, she rarely ventured out, spending her days in the inner chambers caring for her husband and children..."

Ren Yaoqi stood there and listened for a moment. He didn't go in, but turned around and came out again.

Motioning Xi'er to follow her to the side, Ren Yaoqi asked, "Is it Miss Yihong who came? She didn't come alone?"

Xi'er was a little surprised that Ren Yaoqi came out so quickly. She also looked as if she hadn't gone in yet. However, she quickly replied softly, "It was Miss Yihong who came, and with her came the martial artist named Xia Sheng. However, his son wasn't allowed into the inner courtyard, so Nanny Zhou arranged for someone to take him to the outer courtyard for tea."
