Reason 2: The King of Hezhong has no descendants.
The Prince of Hezhong and his wife had only one son and one daughter. Their son remained childless for years, reportedly because Empress Dowager Yan poisoned him, cutting off his bloodline. Even after ascending the throne, the Prince of Hezhong was still expected to appoint a member of the imperial family as his heir. Why? His only daughter married into Yanbei, and his granddaughter became the daughter-in-law of Xiao Yan, the Prince of Yanbei. He was the mother of Xiao Yan's personally appointed Crown Prince. Therefore, the Prince of Hezhong's bloodline actually lay within the Yanbei Palace.
Reason three: This was the result of mutual compromise between the King of Yanbei and the King of Hezhong.
The King of Hezhong lacked a successor and was unable to ascend the throne. Rather than favor a distant relative who appeared out of nowhere, it was better to support his own great-grandson, who was, after all, his own bloodline. The King of Yanbei also backed down, choosing his grandson over his son to protect the interests of the Hezhong Palace. Had Yanbei appointed his own son as crown prince, who knew if the throne would fall to the offspring of the King of Hezhong's granddaughter decades later? Who knew how many concubines Xiao Jingxi would marry and how many sons he would have?
Reason four: The father is out building his empire while the son is taking advantage of it. Isn’t this only natural?
The Sixteen Prefectures of Yanyun formed the northern defense of the Ming Dynasty. The Yanbei Prince's Palace had defended the northern border for generations, and they couldn't relinquish it at all costs. However, at the time, there was no one else besides Xiao Jingxi who possessed the ability and prestige to defend the Sixteen Prefectures. If someone else commanded a large army, Xiao Yan might have worried, but if his son was protecting the empire for his grandson, there was no need to worry. As a grandfather, he had painstakingly fought for this empire, bearing the infamy of the world. Wouldn't this empire be passed down to his precious grandson in the future?
For the above reasons, Xiao Jingxi became the King of Yanbei and stayed in Yanbei with his queen and young son, while his eldest son Azhuo became the crown prince to take advantage of the situation.
In the Yanbei Palace in Yunyang City, Ren Yaoqi is teaching his five-year-old daughter Awu to write. Although Awu is young, she is quiet and well-behaved, and has the demeanor of her mother. Little Awu is the apple of her father's eye, the most beloved jewel in his eye.
Xiao Jingxi walked in from outside and stood quietly by watching his daughter write.
"Daddy, you are blocking the light." Awu raised her head, blinked her eyes and looked at her father softly.
Xiao Jingxi quickly made way, sat down on the other side of his daughter, leaned over and kissed her little cheek: "Sorry, Daddy didn't notice."
A Wu smiled softly: "It's okay, Daddy will be more careful next time."
Ren Yaoqi looked behind Xiao Jingxi and frowned, "Where's Axuan? Didn't you take him out to play?"
Xiao Jingxi watched his daughter write every stroke of the pen while holding his wife's hand and said calmly, "I'll let Silly Girl play with him."
When Ren Yaoqi heard this, he had a bad feeling in his heart. He glared at Xiao Jingxi and immediately stood up and walked out.
Ah Wu turned to look at her mother, then looked at her father, and criticized seriously: "Dad, you bullied your brother again? Mom will be angry."
Xiao Jingxi smiled gently at his daughter: "Birds of a feather flock together, so Daddy lets Axuan play with Silly Girl. Isn't it good for Daddy to accompany you and your mother?"
Little Awu looked at her father with some sympathy: "Awu, it's no use telling Daddy whether it's okay or not. If Mom says it's not okay, then Daddy, you'll be ill. Daddy, hurry up and hide in Awu's closet."
Ren Yaoqi walked out of the house and saw from afar his little son, Axuan, who was only two years old this year, and a huge white monster rolling around in the grass. From time to time, they rolled into a ball, with grass debris all over their bodies and heads.
Seeing Ren Yaoqi walking over, Ah Xuan drooled and smiled foolishly: "Mom... play..."
The silly girl ran over to flatter him: "Awoo——"
Ren Yaoqi gritted his teeth: "Xiao Jingxi!"
Inside the room, Xiao Jingxi's ears twitched, and then he calmly picked up his daughter and walked towards the side door: "Awu, Daddy will take you somewhere else to play." (To be continued ~^~) This chapter has been read (Please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
