Chapter 21 Destiny (2/2)

"Yaoyao, are you feeling unwell?" Ren Shimin reached out and touched her forehead.

Mrs. Li also asked, "Is your illness still not healed? Why do you look so grim?"

Ren Yaoqi obediently allowed Ren Shimin to touch her forehead without any reason, not reminding him that her palm, which had just served hot tea, could not detect body heat. She simply lowered her head and said, "No, I just suddenly remembered that Daddy had assigned me a lot of paintings and calligraphy to copy before he left home. I haven't finished them because I've been sick for a long time, and I'm afraid Daddy will blame me when he checks my homework later."

Ren Shimin reluctantly withdrew his hand upon hearing this, and scolded with a smile, "When has Dad ever scolded you? And why did he scare you like this?"

Seeing that Ren Yaoqi's complexion had improved a lot, Li couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief: "It's good that you're not sick."

Although Ren Yaoqi has been acting as a bridge of communication between Ren Shimin and Li, she is always worried about how she can stop anything before it happens.

"Master, Madam, Aunt Fang has come to pay her respects with the Sixth Young Master and the Eighth Sister." The head maid Shanhu reported through the curtain.

Ren Shimin looked at Li in surprise: "Isn't Concubine Fang still sick?"

Li thought this was a rebuke and said anxiously, "I, I told her not to come."

Ren Shimin nodded and motioned for someone to come in.

After a while, Aunt Fang came in with her two children.

Today, Concubine Fang wore a plain, light blue sheepskin coat, her hair tied up in a bun, and a Zhaojun-style veil on her forehead. Her attire was simple, yet she maintained a dignified and beautiful demeanor. As she walked, her head slightly lowered, her waist slender, her steps light and graceful, she possessed a certain elegance, yet a rare absence of frivolity.

No wonder the maids in the Ren family all like to learn from her secretly.

Ren Shimin looked at Aunt Fang with admiration in his eyes. He was always willing to look at beautiful things.

Aunt Fang glanced slightly in the direction of Ren Shimin, then immediately looked away and stepped forward to kowtow to Ren Shimin and Li.

Ren Shimin smiled and nodded: "Get up, didn't your wife ask you to rest and recuperate?"

Aunt Fang's beautiful eyes were dimmed, and her smile was a little weak, but joy emanated from within: "I heard that the master has returned, and I...I came to pay my respects."

Ren Yaohua was furious when she saw Aunt Fang's expression. Although she tried her best to restrain herself, her words were still very cold and hard: "Since I told you to rest, then rest well. If you come out like this and catch a cold and your illness gets worse, people outside will think my mother is being mean to you!"

Upon hearing this, Aunt Fang's face darkened, and the smile on her lips was a little bitter, but she lowered her head and responded very submissively: "Third sister, you are teaching me that I was not thoughtful enough."

Ren Shimin frowned and looked at Ren Yaohua. He, the head of the family, hadn't said anything yet, but his daughter started to teach her father's concubine a lesson, which he thought was rude.

Ren Yaoqi smiled at Aunt Fang and said, "Don't be offended, Aunt. Third Sister is always blunt and blunt. Even a kind word can turn unpleasant when she speaks to it. I'm usually the most impatient to talk to her. But I don't think she really wants to teach you a lesson. She just sees that you're wearing too little and is worried that you might catch a cold."

Ren Shimin looked at the clothes on Aunt Fang.

Nanny Zhou was also surprised and asked, "Madam, why are you wearing so little today? It's so cold outside! You really don't care about yourself. A few days ago, when it wasn't so cold, you even wore a fox fur coat and thick cloak. Aren't you deliberately trying to make our wife feel distressed?"

Aunt Fang blushed.

"My sixth brother and I were anxious to see father, and we clamored to come over quickly. Aunt was only concerned about what we were wearing, but neglected her own clothes. Mother, please don't blame my aunt, okay?" Ren Yaoyu looked at Li aggrievedly.

"Your mother didn't blame anyone, so why are you all feeling so aggrieved?" Ren Shimin interrupted in a gentle voice, suppressing his impatience very well.

Although he disdains to care about these inner courtyard affairs, due to his sensitive nature, the back and forth between women makes him annoyed. This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
