Rong Shi restrained the expression on her face and patted Ren Yaoqi's hand: "Go to sleep."
Ren Yaoqi stood up and took his leave. When he reached Li Gan, he bowed. Li Gan nodded and glanced at Rong from time to time.
When Ren Yaoqi went out, he saw Li Gan walking towards Rong's.
After leaving the house, Ren Yaoqi passed by the window and saw that the figure projected on the window paper under the south window had become two. Rong and Li Gan sat on the kang. Li Gan gently held Rong in his arms and patted her back awkwardly.
Ren Yaoqi could still hear his whispers. He must be whispering words of comfort. Although he couldn't make out what he was saying, Ren Yaoqi knew that his grandfather's voice must be very gentle, just like when his grandmother spoke to him every day.
For some reason, Ren Yaoqi felt a faint warmth in her heart, and perhaps a hint of envy that she herself was not aware of.
The night passed quickly, and Ren Yaoqi slept unexpectedly soundly and dreamlessly.
On the second day, more news came from the Lei family. In order to verify the cause of Mrs. Lei's death, the government officials opened the coffin and performed an autopsy.
In the afternoon, the results came out. Mrs. Lei's sudden death was due to heart disease.
A doctor who had previously examined the grandmother's pulse also came forward to testify. It turned out that Mrs. Lei had long been aware of her frequent heart palpitations, but to avoid worrying her grandchildren, she had the doctor conceal her condition and not record it in the pulse record. Consequently, even the Lei brothers were unaware that their grandmother was not in good health.
As for the claim that Mrs. Lei was murdered or committed suicide, it is pure nonsense.
Ren Yaoqi finally breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the news. He couldn't help but smile slightly. This Lei Ting was indeed efficient.
When the results came out, the Liu family was initially in disbelief, but with the facts before them, there was no point in making a fuss. If they made too much of a fuss, the authorities would tie them up and beat them with sticks.
Fortunately, the head of the Lei family did not bear grudges and did not bite back at the Liu family. Instead, he pleaded for them for the sake of Mrs. Lei.
However, the people of the Liu family did not know what was good for them. On the way back, a middle-aged woman suddenly shouted that Madam Lei was a fake, not a member of their Liu family, and that the two brothers of the Lei family were bastards.
This time, however, no one believed them. They had filed the lawsuit as Madam Lei's family members, even using a signature to verify their identities. Now that they had lost the case, they turned their backs on them. Everyone in Yunyang City despised their behavior.
This was intolerable. In a rage, Lei Ting decided to cut off all ties with the Liu family and had the Liu family sent back to Jiangnan and never allowed to enter the Lei family again.
In the Han family's villa in Yunyang City, Han Yunshan smashed his study in anger.
Han Xianren waited until Han Yunshan finished smashing the things before he dared to speak to comfort him: "Dad, don't be angry, there will be another chance next time."
Han Yunshan became even more furious when he heard this: "The old woman of the Han family is already dead. If they don't make a fuss this time, how can they make a fuss after she's buried and turned into earth? You're going to let people point at a pile of yellow earth and say it's fake!"
"Then bring the people from the Liu family back?" Han Xianren asked carefully.
"Hmph, you thought Lei Ting was dead?" Han Dongshan narrowed his eyes and said viciously, "Lei Ting, I underestimated him. I actually fell into his trap!" This chapter has been read (please click on the next chapter to continue reading!)
