Chapter 124 Offended (2/3)

After a long moment, Su's fingers finally stopped tapping on the table. The several trusted servants in the room breathed a sigh of relief.

"Send someone to check on Aunt Kang." Su suddenly spoke in a very calm tone.

Yang responded subconsciously, then thought for a moment before continuing, "Madam, do you think there's something fishy about this Concubine Kang? Before she was recognized by the West Mansion, the old lady there had someone investigate her background; otherwise, she wouldn't have been able to enter the Ren family. Now that she's been allowed in, I guess they haven't found any clues."

Su said coldly, "There's no problem with her identity. Check the people she was close to before she entered the Ren family. Also..." Su paused, then continued, "Check if she has any contact with Jiang Ning."

"Jiangning?" Nanny Yang pondered for a moment and immediately realized that Concubine Fang was from Jiangning. "Madam, are you suspecting that Concubine Kang and Concubine Fang are related?"

Su's lips twitched slightly, but the smile never reached her eyes. "This technique looks very familiar. I can't help but wonder who did it."

Nanny Yang was very convinced of Su's position, and upon hearing this, she immediately became indignant. "If this is really related to her, then Aunt Fang is really going too far! She's actually taken advantage of our sister twice and three times. In her eyes, are we in the East Mansion so easy to bully?"

Su's expression remained calm. "I've never interfered with the affairs of the West Mansion over the years. I didn't say anything the last time she took advantage of Ting'er. I guess she thought I would turn a blind eye to harmless exploitation."

Nanny Yang frowned, "How can using our sister be harmless? And you scared our sister like this!"

"I guess she has had it too easy these years." Su lowered her head and gently stroked the silver thread on her skirt.

"I've also heard that Concubine Fang's brother has been promoted. Although his position is not high, the Ren family can rely on him to smooth things out for their business in Jiangnan. So, the old lady will not miss out on her share of what the proper ladies in the West Mansion have. But she is used to making trouble in the West Mansion. Does she think that we in the East Mansion should avoid her too?" Nanny Yang sneered, "What a thing! Pah!"

Compared to Nanny Yang's anger, Su looked much calmer.

"I always admire smart people, but... she shouldn't have attacked Ting'er. Now it seems that if I don't remind her in time, there's no guarantee that she won't take advantage of my daughter even more."

When Madam Yang saw Su's reaction, she knew she was angry with Aunt Fang. She also hated this woman who always liked to step on others to climb up the ladder: "Madam, you're right. Some people just like to push their luck and don't even realize when they've overstepped their bounds."

Su did not respond to Nanny Yang's words, but a hint of deep thought inadvertently flashed in her slightly lowered eyes.

She knew exactly what Concubine Fang wanted. She also knew why Fifth Madam Lin was in such bad luck. Considering the previous and subsequent events, it wasn't hard to guess the reason. However, if the East Mansion wanted to remain independent, it would be best if the power among the various branches of the West Mansion remained balanced for the time being. Su wondered if she shouldn't just watch Madam Lin fall.

After Ren Yaoqi returned to Ziwei Courtyard from Ronghua Courtyard, he immediately went to the main house to find Nanny Zhou.
