Chapter 515 (1/2)

After seeing the person clearly, Xiao Jinglin was slightly startled, and then quickly returned to her expressionless look. She stared at the person riding his horse in front of her without saying a word.

"How did you find out?" The visitor looked at Xiao Jinglin and sighed with a smile, "I thought I hid it well."

Xiao Jinglin said calmly: "The sound of your horse's hooves is different from ours."

Upon hearing this, the visitor took a look at Xiao Jinglin's horse and found that her horse's hooves were wrapped with a layer of cloth, which made it more convenient for her to travel and would make much less noise.

The man got off the horse, took the reins in his hand, looked up at Xiao Jinglin, and smiled: "I have been staying in a comfortable environment for too long and have neglected it."

Xiao Jinglin frowned and dismounted after a moment of silence. "What are you doing here? Is there something the Yun family needs you to do?"

The visitor did not answer but asked, "Are you going back to Jiajing Pass?"

The news of Xiao Jingxi's injury was not spread outside the Yanbei Palace, so so far only a few people in the palace knew about it.

Xiao Jinglin said calmly: "Do you want to interfere in military affairs?"

The man shook his head, looked at Xiao Jinglin seriously and said, "No, I only care about where you go."

Xiao Jinglin seemed to have not expected him to say such a thing. He was stunned for a moment, then frowned again: "So you plan to follow me all the way to Jiajing Pass?"

"What if I say yes?"

Xiao Jinglin was a little impatient, but she managed to hold it back and said calmly, "I remember your wedding was set for a dozen days from now? You won't be able to make it in time if you go through Jiajingguan and back."

The visitor, Yun Wenting, the eldest young master of the Yun family, had a glint in his eyes when he heard this: "You know?"

Others didn't understand Xiao Jinglin. Yun Wenting, however, knew everything. Xiao Jinglin had always been indifferent to trivial matters, but she knew his wedding was in a dozen days. This made Yun Wenting wonder if Xiao Jinglin cared about him at all.

But Xiao Jinglin still had no expression: "When I left, my mother told me to leave a gift for you so as not to be impolite."

Yun Wenting's eyes dimmed again.

Xiao Jinglin looked at him and said, "I have military matters to attend to. Don't follow me anymore."

After saying this, Xiao Jinglin jumped onto her horse. She was about to turn her horse around and chase Hongying and the others when she saw Yun Wenting also on his horse, and he showed no intention of leaving.

Xiao Jinglin glanced at him, pursed her lips, and then whipped her horse. Her horse rushed out like an arrow from a bow, with astonishing speed. Yun Wenting followed her without saying a word.

Xiao Jinglin's horse was a warhorse, and no ordinary horse could outrun it. But after running for about a quarter of an hour, Yun Wenting was still following closely behind her, not being left behind.

Xiao Jinglin suddenly attacked without warning, swung the whip in her hand fiercely, but not at the horse under her, but at Yun Wenting, who was only half a horse's length behind her.

She didn't slow down when she struck. The whip still carried a sharp force; if it had hit anyone, it would have been enough to tear flesh. Yun Wenting didn't slow down either. Just as the whip was about to strike his arm, he suddenly leaned back and dodged it with ease.

Xiao Jinglin's attack failed, so he turned sideways and kicked Yun Wenting. Yun Wenting was about to stand up, but he heard a strange sound in the wind and rolled sideways to avoid Xiao Jinglin's kick.

Xiao Jinglin snorted softly. She swung the whip again, this time with a ferocious, dazzling display. Yun Wenting dodged repeatedly on his horse. Although he looked a little embarrassed, he avoided Xiao Jinglin's whip, demonstrating his unusual agility.

The two men galloped on their horses, attacking and dodging each other, but their speed did not slow down. Fortunately, the road was remote and there was no one else except the two of them, otherwise they would have been affected.

Seeing that the two had been tangling for a long time and she hadn't been able to knock Yun Wenting off his horse, Xiao Jinglin whipped Yun Wenting and suddenly kicked the horse beneath him. Xiao Jinglin wouldn't normally be so cruel to horses, but today she was cornered. Although she controlled the force of the kick so as not to actually injure the horse, it would definitely frighten it and make it unable to run.

After Yun Wenting dodged Xiao Jinglin's whip with thunderous force, he realized Xiao Jinglin's intention. It was too late for the horse to avoid it. Yun Wenting suddenly let go of the reins, supported himself on the horse's back with his hands, and jumped lightly. Before Xiao Jinglin could react, he jumped onto Xiao Jinglin's horse's back and sat behind her.
