Ren Yaoqi: “…”
The two of them walked around the secret room and found that the boxes were filled with valuable items that were difficult to carry. Although they only took a few casual glances, they could see that the Zhai family was indeed wealthy back then.
After looking at the box, Xiao Jingxi pulled Ren Yaoqi to the altar and looked at the locked sandalwood box.
Ren Yaoqi looked at Xiao Jingxi's thoughtful expression and asked curiously, "How? Can it be opened?"
Xiao Jingxi gave Ren Yaoqi a bright smile in return. It almost blinded Ren Yaoqi: "Since you want to see it, I have to find a way to open it."
As he spoke, Xiao Jingxi handed the oil lamp to Ren Yaoqi and went over to fiddle with the lock.
Seeing this, Ren Yaoqi did not stop it and just stood aside and watched.
Xiao Jingxi turned the gears and looked at the words on them, then tried to guess the secret words on the lock. Unfortunately, the Second Young Master Xiao was not a god after all, and he guessed wrong twice.
Seeing him frowning and looking serious, Ren Yaoqi couldn't help but smile and said, "Forget it, let's get someone up there and find someone to open it. This kind of lock is probably..."
Before Ren Yaoqi could finish his words, he suddenly heard a "click" sound. Then the sound of a mechanism turning, and he was stunned.
A smile slowly appeared on Xiao Jingxi's face. He turned around and looked at Ren Yaoqi and blinked.
Ren Yaoqi looked at the secretly smug look on someone's face and couldn't help but laugh. He praised generously, "Young Master, you are amazing. I admire you!"
The Second Young Master Xiao looked at Ren Yaoqi and whispered seriously, "As long as it's what you want."
Ren Yaoqi couldn't help but blush. Xiao Jingxi lowered his head and kissed Ren Yaoqi on the forehead, then pulled her over and asked, "Would you be disappointed if there weren't any rare treasures inside?"
Ren Yaoqi was still in a trance from Xiao Jingxi's gentle kiss just now. Hearing this, she said without thinking: "You opened it, how could I be disappointed?"
When he met Xiao Jingxi's bright gaze, Ren Yaoqi realized that what he had just said was actually quite similar to the corny words Xiao Jingxi had said.
Ren Yaoqi felt a little embarrassed, but Xiao Jingxi chuckled softly, gently pinched Ren Yaoqi's palm, and said, "That's good, because I guess there are no surprises in this box, but it's good that it's not a shock."
Ren Yaoqi was stunned when he heard this: "You know what's inside the box before it's even opened?"
Xiao Jingxi sighed, looked at the statue of the Queen Mother of the Nine Heavens and said, "That's not the case, but I have guessed the true identity of the owner of this box."
Ren Yaoqi frowned. "Who is the true owner of the box? Isn't this the secret room of the Zhai family? Could it be that this box wasn't left behind by the Zhai family?"
Xiao Jingxi said: "That's not the case. This person should have a deep connection with the Zhai family."
Ren Yaoqi's curiosity was piqued by Xiao Jingxi's words, and she couldn't help but look at the sandalwood box. "So the reason you were able to open this mechanism lock just now wasn't just a random guess, but because you guessed the identity of the owner of this box?"
Xiao Jingxi nodded: "That's right." He smiled at Ren Yaoqi, "Don't you want to see it? Do you want to open it?"
Ren Yaoqi blinked, wondering what Xiao Jingxi meant by "frightened".
Xiao Jingxi didn't say anything, but just smiled at Ren Yaoqi, as if he would open it if she said so, and would pull her away if she said she didn't want to look at it anymore.
Ren Yaoqi didn't hesitate for long; curiosity ultimately won out. She knew that if there was any real danger, Xiao Jingxi wouldn't let her open the box, so she was just frightened. (To be continued.
