The atmosphere in the pavilion froze because of Yun Wenfang's words and actions.
Ren Yaoqi glanced at Xiao Jingxi who was standing in front of him, thinking that the matter between him and Yun Wenfang should not involve the people from Yanbei Palace. If Yun Wenfang went crazy and beat Xiao Jingxi, the situation would only get worse.
So she gathered herself and decided to go over and talk to Yun Wenfang. For the sake of the overall situation, she had to calm Yun Wenfang down first. Otherwise, if things got out of hand, she would be the only one to suffer. Although she was shaking with anger, she was no longer a child who acted on impulse.
Unexpectedly, as soon as Ren Yaoqi took a step, Xiao Jingxi turned around and looked at her as if he had eyes on his back.
This look was as gentle as ever, carrying the power to soothe people. But somehow, when Xiao Jingxi looked at her like this, Ren Yaoqi's movements unconsciously paused.
Yun Wenfang kept staring at Xiao Jingxi and Ren Yaoqi. The interaction between them completely angered him.
Yun Wenfang wanted to reach out and push Xiao Jingxi away and pull Ren Yaoqi over, but this push did not push Xiao Jingxi away.
Yun Wenfang frowned, took a wrong step, and wanted to repeat his old trick, but he heard Xiao Jingxi slowly say, "Zishu, are you sure you want to do it in front of me?"
Xiao Jingxi's voice was still gentle, and if you listened carefully, there was even a hint of a smile in it. However, the other people in the pavilion lowered their heads and stood with their hands behind their backs, becoming more respectful.
Yun Wenfang froze for a moment. When he realized that he was frightened by Xiao Jingxi's words, he became furious and glared at Xiao Jingxi, saying fiercely, "Xiao Jingxi, what right do you have to interfere? Is it just because you're the second son of the Yanbei Palace? Don't think I'm afraid of you just because your last name is Xiao!"
Upon hearing this, Xiao Jingxi looked at Yun Wenfang with some amusement, "Speaking of identity, it doesn't matter whether my last name is Xiao or not. You should be grateful that your last name is Yun. This surname has saved you more than once."
Xiao Jingxi's words made Yun Wenfang's face even uglier. He gritted his teeth and was about to say something, but Xiao Jingxi's gaze passed over him and looked at the path not far away from the pavilion with a smile.
Yun Wenting walked quickly out of the path. "Zishu, I've been looking for you for a long time. What are you doing here?"
Seeing that Xiao Jingxi and Xiao Jinglin were both there, Yun Wenfang seemed not to notice Yun Wenfang's expression. He walked towards the pavilion and said with a smile, "Tingzhen, Princess, so you are all here too.. I was wondering why you all disappeared one by one, making it so hard for me to find you."
Xiao Jingxi smiled and nodded: "You came at the right time. Zishu must have lost his way, so he was a little confused."
Yun Wenting glanced at Yun Wenfang, smiled, and shook his head. Then, he bowed earnestly to Xiao Jingxi and said, "He was spoiled by my grandmother and mother at home, and has a childish temper. Tingzhen, please don't take any offense to heart."
Xiao Jingxi just smiled and said nothing.
Yun Wenfang turned his head and glared at Yun Wenting: "Brother——"
"Shut up!" Yun Wenting's tone was calm, but the look he gave Yun Wenfang was full of warning and coldness.
Yun Wenting had always been kind to his younger brother, Yun Wenfang, and rarely gave him a cold look. Yun Wenting's unusually tough attitude made Yun Wenfang swallow his words, snorting coldly and turning his head away.
Yun Wenting didn't look at Yun Wenfang again, but looked at the maids who were still kneeling outside the pavilion, and changed the subject with some surprise: "What are they doing..."
Xiao Jingxi smiled and said, "I was just dealing with a small matter."
Yun Wenting tactfully stopped asking questions and said, "Since you still have things to deal with, I'll take Zishu out first."
