Chapter 167: Attack
Xiao Jinglin looked at Xiao Jingxi for a long time, pursed her lips, and then looked away.
The smile on Xiao Jingxi's face deepened.
Ren Yaoqi looked at Xiao Jingxi, then at Xiao Jinglin. Although she felt it was a little strange, she still followed Xiao Jingxi's words and said, "So the next time we meet will have to wait until the Qianjin Banquet?"
Xiao Jinglin sighed, thought for a moment, then looked up and said, "No, my brother will help me. It's because of him that I was able to come out today."
Then, Princess Xiao looked at her brother seriously and said earnestly and confidently, "Is that so, brother?"
Xiao Jingxi couldn't help but smile: "Of course. Lin'er has always been well-behaved and obedient, so I naturally wouldn't refuse such a small request."
The brother and sister smiled at each other, the meaning of their smiles only they could understand.
Ren Yaoqi, however, sensitively felt that the atmosphere suddenly became somewhat tense.
She looked back and forth at the brother and sister several times, and finally decided very rationally to pretend that she had noticed nothing, because she felt that the so-called tense situation before her was a bit childish and speechless.
Fortunately, this atmosphere did not last too long. With Ren Yaoqi's deliberate adjustment, the three of them sat together drinking tea and chatting.
But basically it was Ren Yaoqi talking to Xiao Jingxi, or Ren Yaoqi talking to Xiao Jinglin.
Ren Yaoqi discussed chess, calligraphy, and painting with Xiao Jingxi, while he and Xiao Jinglin discussed Kyoto's famous dishes and snacks. The atmosphere became quite harmonious as they chatted.
"Why did you think of practicing writing with your left hand?" Xiao Jingxi asked.
Ren Yaoqi thought about it. She'd originally started practicing left-handed calligraphy purely for fun. Her father had a collection of calligraphy by the left-handed master Gao Fengxiang, and he praised it highly, so she decided to practice. But she really started practicing after arriving in Kyoto. One day, she accidentally injured her right hand, forcing her to write with her left. After she recovered, she practiced calligraphy whenever she had the chance.
"My father likes Gao Fengxiang's calligraphy." Ren Yaoqi replied vaguely.
Xiao Jingxi nodded and didn't ask any further questions.
Dongsheng came back to report after nearly an hour.
"I have already delivered the letter to the head of the Lei family."
Xiao Jingxi's gaze turned to him, and then asked, "Did he find out?"
"Lei Ting was very alert this time. He immediately chased me when I threw the letter to him. I led him around the alleys of the city several times before finally shaking him off. Master, please rest assured that he didn't see me."
Dongsheng spoke with great confidence. Although his kung fu skills were not very good, and might even be not as good as Lei Ting's, few people could catch up with him when it came to the ability to escape.
Xiao Jingxi nodded and let him leave.
The matter came to an end, and Ren Yaoqi finally breathed a sigh of relief.
After sitting for a while, Ren Yaoqi planned to leave.
Xiao Jinglin suddenly asked: "Yaoqi, can you play the piano?"
Ren Yaoqi was stunned for a moment: "I know a little."
"You can play the piano, chess, calligraphy and painting?"
After thinking about it, Ren Yaoqi nodded. It wasn't that she didn't want to be modest, she did know all of these things, and was quite proficient in them, so she deserved the word "know".
Xiao Jinglin immediately said: "Okay, then you can come to the palace to teach me in the future."
After a pause, she said, "My mother hired a musician for me. I can understand every word she says, but unfortunately, when they are put together, I don't understand much."
Xiao Jinglin couldn't help but feel a little impatient when she talked about these things. She was very agile in holding a knife or a gun, but she was not good at those elegant things.
