Xiao Jingxi took Ren Yaoqi by the hand and avoided those dark holes and came to the edge of the pond.
There was a lotus pond in the center of the Ren family's garden. Yanbei was still a bit chilly in May, so the lotus flowers in the pond hadn't bloomed, and even the leaves looked a bit listless. Xiao Jingxi took Ren Yaoqi by the hand and walked around the rockery beside the lotus pond. Then he gestured behind him.
Xiao Hua, dressed in gray, appeared out of nowhere, saluted Xiao Jingxi and Ren Yaoqi, then turned and went into the rockery.
Ren Yaoqi raised his eyebrows in surprise: "Here?"
Xiao Jingxi returned Ren Yaoqi's smile.
Ren Yaoqi couldn't help but be surprised. This garden wasn't a secret place. The Ren family's daughters and children loved to visit the courtyard when they had nothing to do, and the maids and servants would sometimes come in too. The rockery was especially beautiful because of the lotus pond. It was a great place to cool off in the summer. Ren Yaoqi hadn't expected the Han family's secret passage to be here.
Xiao Hua stayed in the rockery for about a quarter of an hour. If Ren Yaoqi had not heard the subtle knocking sounds coming from the rockery, he would have thought that Xiao Hua had already gone out from another exit.
